Nicole Kidman makes career move while dating rumours continue

Nicole Kidman is celebrating another major achievement in her career while continuing to fuel speculation about her personal life.

The Oscar-winning actress, who is currently promoting her upcoming film Practical Magic 2 alongside longtime friend and co-star Sandra Bullock, recently shared exciting news with fans on social media.

Just one day after attending the star-studded premiere of the highly anticipated sequel in Los Angeles, Kidman reposted an announcement from luxury Japanese skincare brand Clé de Peau Beauté, revealing that she has been named the company’s new global brand ambassador.

The campaign highlighted Kidman’s evolution beyond acting, recognizing her growing influence as a producer and storyteller.

The announcement praised the actress for using her passion for storytelling to expand her creative career, noting that she now helps shape projects from behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera. Accompanying the message were elegant photographs of Kidman dressed in a tailored grey three-piece suit, projecting confidence and sophistication.

The campaign also emphasized themes of creativity, collaboration and personal radiance, reflecting the values of the beauty brand while celebrating Kidman’s decades-long contribution to the entertainment industry.

The latest professional milestone comes as the actress continues to make headlines over persistent rumors surrounding her relationship with businessman Michael Reinstein.

Speculation about the pair intensified after they were reportedly seen together following Kidman’s arrival at Burbank Airport. The two appeared relaxed and cheerful as they left the airport together, sparking fresh discussion about the nature of their relationship.

Interest in the rumored romance first gained momentum after photos from an Italian vacation circulated online last month. The images showed Kidman and Reinstein spending time together in the picturesque coastal town of Portofino, where they were seen chatting poolside in a relaxed setting.

The photos quickly spread across social media, prompting fans to wonder whether the actress had found a new partner. Since then, public interest in the pair has continued to grow, with every appearance adding fuel to ongoing speculation.

Despite the widespread attention, neither Kidman nor Reinstein has publicly addressed the dating rumors. Both have remained silent about their reported outings, leaving fans to speculate while waiting for an official statement.

Kidman has long kept much of her personal life out of the spotlight, preferring to let her work speak for itself. Even as rumors circulate, the actress remains focused on promoting Practical Magic 2 and celebrating new professional accomplishments.

With a celebrated acting career, an expanding role as a producer and a prestigious new partnership with Clé de Peau Beauté, Kidman continues to demonstrate her enduring influence in Hollywood. Whether discussing her latest projects or her personal life, the award-winning star remains one of the entertainment industry’s most closely watched figures.

President Asif Ali Zardari has directed all federal, provincial, and local authorities to strengthen emergency preparedness and speed up rescue and relief operations as heavy monsoon rains continue to affect several parts of Pakistan. The president issued the instructions as the country enters a critical phase of the monsoon season. Weather experts have warned that continued rainfall could increase the risk of flash floods, river flooding, urban flooding, landslides, cloudbursts, and glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable regions. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and the destruction caused by recent rains, President Zardari extended his condolences to the affected families. He also expressed concern over the damage to homes, roads, public infrastructure, agricultural land, and other property caused by the ongoing severe weather. The president instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), district administrations, and other relevant agencies to maintain close coordination throughout the emergency. He said all institutions should work together to ensure a timely and effective response to any weather-related incident. He directed authorities to issue early weather warnings without delay and ensure that information reaches people living in high-risk areas. He stressed that advance warnings can help communities take precautionary measures and reduce the loss of lives and property. President Zardari also ordered continuous monitoring of rainfall, river flows, reservoirs, and water levels, especially in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where heavy rains have increased the possibility of flash floods and landslides. He instructed authorities in downstream districts to complete all necessary preparations for possible flooding. The president further directed emergency agencies to deploy rescue teams, heavy machinery, medical staff, and relief supplies in vulnerable areas before conditions worsen. He also called for special measures to protect tourists, travellers, and local residents in mountainous regions where landslides, flash floods, and glacial lake outburst floods pose serious risks. He emphasised that all government departments must remain on high alert and respond immediately wherever human lives, homes, or critical infrastructure are threatened. He said protecting citizens should remain the highest priority during the ongoing monsoon season. President Zardari also appealed to the public to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel to areas facing heavy rainfall or flood warnings. He urged citizens to cooperate with rescue teams and local authorities during emergency operations. The president appreciated the efforts of rescue workers, emergency personnel, volunteers, and officials who continue to assist affected communities despite difficult weather conditions. He also prayed for the safety of people across the country. The ongoing monsoon spell has caused widespread destruction in several provinces. At least 37 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents, while many others have been injured. Heavy rainfall has triggered flash floods and landslides, damaging houses, roads, bridges, crops, livestock, and public infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab.

PPL strikes 1st-ever Chiltan formation gas find in…

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a significant hydrocarbon discovery at its operated Sarani Block in Sindh’s Sujawal district, opening fresh prospects for exploration in the country’s shallow offshore and swampy onshore regions. The discovery was made at the Dolphin X-1 exploratory well, where PPL identified hydrocarbons in the Chiltan Formation of the Lower Indus Basin. The company described it as the first reported hydrocarbon discovery from the Jurassic-age Chiltan Formation in the basin. PPL said the find could expand exploration opportunities in adjoining shallow offshore areas and strengthen the hydrocarbon potential of Pakistan’s low-depth marine zones. The region had remained largely unexplored for years because of its challenging geological and geographical conditions. Drilling of Dolphin X-1 began on April 17, 2026, with the well reaching a measured depth of 3,850 metres to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the Chiltan Formation. Analysis of drilling results and wireline logs subsequently identified a hydrocarbon-bearing zone. During testing, the well produced gas from the Chiltan Formation at a rate of 0.942 million standard cubic feet per day. The gas recorded a heating value of 1,000 British thermal units per standard cubic foot, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 211 pounds per square inch gauge through a 64/32-inch choke. PPL holds a 75 per cent working interest in the Sarani Block and serves as its operator, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited owns the remaining 25 per cent stake. The company said the well was drilled and tested using the expertise of its technical teams. The results have led to the identification of a new hydrocarbon play within the Chiltan Limestone, potentially providing a foundation for further exploration in the surrounding onshore and shallow offshore areas.

Pakistan, US move closer to finalising reciprocal trade framework

Pakistan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to finalising a reciprocal trade framework at the earliest, signalling significant progress in negotiations aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and long-term economic cooperation. The renewed commitment was expressed during a virtual meeting held on Wednesday between Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Jamieson Greer. The two sides reviewed the progress made by their negotiating teams and discussed the remaining steps required to conclude the proposed agreement. According to an official statement, both countries acknowledged that negotiations have advanced substantially in recent months and reiterated their shared determination to complete the reciprocal trade framework as soon as possible. During the meeting, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb referred to the recent discussions held in Washington, D.C., and appreciated the constructive approach adopted by both negotiating teams. He said the steady progress reflects the mutual commitment of Pakistan and the United States to deepen economic ties and expand commercial cooperation. The finance minister stressed that maintaining the current momentum in negotiations is crucial for Pakistan’s broader economic agenda. He noted that a stronger trade and investment partnership with the United States would support Pakistan’s export-led growth strategy, improve economic resilience, attract foreign investment, and create new business opportunities for companies in both countries. Aurangzeb also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration with the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank), saying enhanced financial cooperation could facilitate trade, encourage investment, and strengthen business-to-business engagement between the two countries. On the US side, Ambassador Jamieson Greer acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent engagement throughout the negotiation process and appreciated the progress achieved on key labour and regulatory reforms. He particularly welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen compliance with international labour standards, including measures related to preventing forced labour. The US trade representative reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to advancing bilateral trade discussions and expressed confidence that the remaining issues could be resolved through continued technical-level consultations between the two sides. The officials reaffirmed their shared objective of concluding the agreement in the near future, paving the way for stronger trade, investment, and economic collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.

Evergrande founder handed life sentence as court s…

The founder of Evergrande, the Chinese property giant whose collapse triggered a nationwide housing market crisis, has been sentenced to life in prison and stripped of all personal property. Hui Ka Yan pleaded guilty in April to multiple charges, including embezzling assets and corporate bribery. The Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court also imposed fines totaling 15.82 billion yuan, roughly £1.73 billion or $2.35 billion, on his former companies over a range of offenses that included falsifying financial records and concealing debt. The sentencing marks a major turning point in the fallout from Evergrande’s collapse, which shook China’s property sector and inflicted heavy losses on investors and domestic banks alike. The court said Hui and his businesses seriously disrupted the Chinese property market, causing significant economic damage. Other former Evergrande executives, including Hui’s two sons Xu Zhijian and Xu Tenghe, received jail terms ranging from 22 months to 18 years, according to Chinese state media. Once ranked as Asia’s richest man, Hui has watched his fortune and influence collapse alongside his company. Also known as Xu Jiayin, he grew up in rural China raised by his grandmother before entering the property industry and founding Evergrande in 1996. He guided the company through a period of rapid expansion fueled by heavy borrowing, eventually building Evergrande into China’s largest real estate developer with a stock market valuation exceeding $50 billion, roughly £36.7 billion. At his peak, Hui held the distinction of being Asia’s wealthiest individual. The company suffered a major setback when Beijing introduced new measures in 2020 aimed at curbing debt across the property sector. As Evergrande struggled to keep up with interest payments, it began selling properties at steep discounts to stay afloat before ultimately collapsing in 2021. Court proceedings in April revealed that the company had taken in millions of dollars in pre sale funds from prospective homebuyers that were never used for the construction they were intended to finance. Instead, that money was redirected toward new development projects, leaving hundreds of housing projects unfinished. In March 2024, Hui was separately fined $6.5 million and banned for life from China’s capital markets after regulators found the company had overstated its revenue by $78 billion. Evergrande’s stock market value shrank by 99 percent before the company’s shares were delisted from the Hong Kong exchange in August 2025, ending more than fifteen years of trading. The company’s implosion is widely seen as a key trigger for the broader downturn in China’s property market that continues to weigh on the country’s economy. At its peak, Evergrande stood as the largest firm in an industry that accounted for roughly a third of China’s gross domestic product, serving as both a major driver of economic growth and a critical revenue source for local governments. The sector’s ongoing troubles have continued to pressure the world’s second largest economy, with several other major developers facing their own financial distress in the years since Evergrande’s fall.
