NSYNC star Lance Bass drops bittersweet fatherhood…

Lance Bass is getting candid about one of the most rewarding chapters of his life: being a father. The NSYNC star recently shared a bittersweet update about raising his four-year-old twins, Alexander and Violet, with husband Michael Turchin.

During the August 12 premiere party for Cocktail Wars in New York, Bass opened up about life with his children. While the singer is clearly enjoying every moment of fatherhood, he also admitted that watching his twins grow up comes with an emotional side.

Bass and Turchin welcomed their twins, Violet Betty and Alexander James, in October 2021 through a surrogate. The couple had previously faced years of challenges while trying to become parents, including a pregnancy loss, making the arrival of their children especially meaningful. (ABC News)

Now, four years into parenthood, Bass appears to be embracing the chaos, joy and little milestones that come with raising two young children.

The singer has previously spoken about how quickly the early years of fatherhood pass. As Alexander and Violet become more independent, Bass is experiencing that familiar feeling many parents know well: wanting to see children grow while wishing they could stay little for just a little longer.

His latest comments also highlight the close bond he shares with his twins. Bass and Turchin have frequently given fans glimpses into their family life, from celebrating birthdays to sharing the personalities of their children.

When the twins were babies, Turchin described Violet as more strong-willed and outspoken, while Alexander was more relaxed and gentle. Bass, meanwhile, said the transition into parenthood had been easier than they expected and that the babies brought enormous happiness into their home. (People.com)

Fatherhood has also changed Bass’s outlook on life. In an earlier interview, he explained that having children shifted his perspective because life was no longer simply about himself. Instead, his focus became centered on his family and the needs of his children. (Scary Mommy)

While Bass continues to balance parenting with his busy entertainment career, his latest appearance shows that family remains one of his biggest priorities.

The update comes as Bass prepares for the launch of Cocktail Wars, the new E! competition series he hosts alongside fellow NSYNC member Joey Fatone. The show is scheduled to premiere on August 18. (versantmedia.com)

For Bass, however, the biggest adventure may still be happening at home. As Alexander and Violet grow, the singer is learning to enjoy each stage while holding onto the precious memories that come with it.

Usama Mir stars as Lahore Qalandars down Desert Vi…

Usama Mir starred with a three-wicket haul as Lahore Qalandars defeated Desert Vipers by 38 runs in the third match of the Global Super League 2026 at the Providence Stadium on Friday. Set a stiff target of 177, Desert Vipers could only muster 138-9 in 20 overs, with Mir leading the bowling attack to restrict the opposition effectively. Earlier, Parvez Hossain Emon and Michael Bracewell’s gutsy knocks lifted Lahore Qalandars to a strong total. Opting to bat first, the Qalandars piled up 176-4 in 20 overs, largely due to an unbeaten 83-run partnership between Emon and Bracewell. The pair rescued the team from a precarious 93-4 in 13.1 overs and propelled them into a strong position. Opening batters Shayan Jahangir and Shamyl Hussain shared a 37-run stand in five overs before Vipers hit back with quick wickets. Jahangir scored 28 off 30 balls, including a six and two fours, while Hussain only managed nine. Soon after, Abdullah Shafique was caught and bowled for eight, leaving the 2024 PSL champions at 49-3 inside eight overs. Farhan Yousaf and Parvez Hossain Emon tried to arrest the slide with a 44-run partnership, bringing the total near the 100-run mark. However, Yousaf was dismissed for 22, leaving his side in trouble. At this stage, captain Bracewell arrived and soaked up all the pressure alongside Emon. Bracewell hit 46 not out off 23 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes, while Emon remained unbeaten on 47 off 33 balls, including three sixes and three fours. For Desert Vipers, Khary Pierre picked up two wickets. In response, Desert Vipers struggled to build momentum against a disciplined bowling attack. Usama Mir was the standout performer, claiming three wickets to dismantle the middle order. The Vipers’ batting lineup faltered under pressure, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Despite a few cameos, they could not keep up with the required run rate and eventually fell short by 38 runs. The victory marks a strong start for Lahore Qalandars in the Global Super League, with their batting depth and bowling firepower on full display. The partnership between Emon and Bracewell was the highlight of the match, showcasing their ability to handle pressure and accelerate when needed. Usama Mir’s bowling performance was equally crucial, as he consistently struck at key moments to keep the opposition in check. The Qalandars will look to build on this momentum as the tournament progresses, while Desert Vipers will need to regroup and address their batting concerns ahead of their next fixture. The GSL continues to provide exciting cricketing action, with teams battling for supremacy in the tournament. The match was a testament to the competitive nature of the league, with fans enjoying a thrilling contest between two strong sides. Lahore Qalandars’ comprehensive victory sends a strong message to their rivals, establishing them as one of the teams to beat in the competition. As the tournament unfolds, the Qalandars will aim to maintain their winning form and secure a place in the knockout stages, with the ultimate goal of lifting the trophy.

Ranbir Kapoor opens up about self-doubt ahead of Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor has spoken with rare candour about the weight of playing Lord Rama in the most ambitious Indian film production in recent memory, admitting that when the role was first offered to him, his immediate response was fear rather than excitement. Speaking on a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday alongside co-star Yash, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, Kapoor was asked to reflect on what it meant to take on a role of this magnitude. His answer was unexpectedly personal. “I remember when the film was first offered to me, there was so much of fear, so much of doubt. Will I be able to do this, am I capable enough?” he said. “But I think that doubt changed into gratitude very early on. I think it was a blessing, an opportunity of a lifetime, and a moral responsibility.” What made the role feel so daunting, he explained, was not simply the scale of the film but the depth of the cultural and spiritual responsibility it carried. Lord Rama is not a fictional character for the hundreds of millions of people who hold him sacred. He is a living presence in the faith and moral imagination of a civilisation stretching back millennia. “The Ramayana is ingrained in our subconscious,” Kapoor said. “Lord Rama is the conscience keeper of millions of people around the world for generations, for more than 4,000 years. He is somebody who embodies the triumph of the human spirit in times of adversities. He stands for courage, compassion, forgiveness, righteousness, and just to have the opportunity to represent that is very daunting.” What helped him move through that initial paralysis, he said, was a shift in his approach from technical preparation to something more spiritual. “Very early on, I understood that it just requires a lot of faith, a lot of belief, a lot of truthfulness, and noble intentions. Our entire cast and crew had one noble intention, and that is to tell the story as authentically as we can.” His co-star Yash, who plays the antagonist Ravana, used his moment on the panel to defend Kapoor’s casting, praising both his humility and his dedication and noting that no actor can truly claim to embody a deity. He called Kapoor a fabulous actor who had worked hard for the role, pushing back on any lingering doubt about whether he was the right choice. The panel also brought an unexpected development. The Ramayana trailer, which had been scheduled for a global unveiling at Comic-Con, was postponed just hours before its planned launch. Producer Namit Malhotra confirmed the delay, saying the trailer would be released worldwide at a later date. He described the film as a moment of great pride for Indian cinema, one that would introduce the richness of Indian culture and storytelling to global audiences in the way major Hollywood productions do for their own traditions. Ramayana Part One is scheduled for a theatrical release in November.

Meta faces major trial over alleged harmful impact

Meta Platforms is facing a major legal battle in a California federal court, where a group of state attorneys general is accusing the company of deliberately designing Facebook and Instagram in ways that can make children and teenagers addicted to social media. The trial, beginning Wednesday in Oakland, could result in huge financial penalties and force Meta to make major changes to how its platforms operate. The seven-week trial will examine allegations from Colorado, Kentucky, California and New Jersey that Meta designed its platforms to keep young users engaged for extended periods while misleading the public about their safety. The case also involves claims from 29 states that Meta illegally collected and used children’s personal information, allegedly violating federal law. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with opening statements expected on August 18. Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to testify during the proceedings, along with Instagram chief Adam Mosseri. The case is considered one of the biggest legal challenges yet faced by Meta over the effects of social media on young people. The company has estimated that potential damages could reach $1.4 trillion, a figure close to its market value of around $1.5 trillion. However, the states involved have not publicly revealed how much compensation they intend to seek. The attorneys general are also asking the court to order Meta to introduce stronger age restrictions and remove features such as infinite scrolling. They want the company to make additional changes aimed at reducing the potential negative effects of social media on children. Meta has strongly rejected the allegations and said it expects evidence presented during the trial to demonstrate its efforts to protect young users. The company said it has listened to parents, worked with experts and law enforcement agencies, and conducted extensive research into issues affecting children and teenagers. The lawsuit, filed in 2023, followed a multistate investigation into the impact of Facebook and Instagram on young users. The investigation gained momentum after former Meta employee and whistleblower Frances Haugen testified before a US Senate committee in 2021. Haugen alleged that Meta was aware of potential harm to young users and had information about ways to make its platforms safer but chose not to make certain changes. New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport has accused Meta of continuing to prioritise user engagement and profits despite allegedly knowing that its platforms could negatively affect children. Public concern over social media use among young people is also growing. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 85% of Americans believe social media can be addictive for children, while 61% said social media companies need stronger government oversight. Meta and other technology companies are facing thousands of similar lawsuits from states, school districts, local governments and individuals. Two cases that have already reached juries resulted in verdicts against Meta. Last week, a New Mexico judge ordered the company to pay $567 million and make changes to its platforms after finding Meta responsible for contributing to a children’s mental health crisis in the state. Meta continues to deny wrongdoing and has argued that social media addiction is not officially recognised as a psychiatric condition. Legal experts believe the latest trial could become a crucial test for the company, particularly following recent courtroom losses. The case will be overseen by US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who has taken the unusual step of using an advisory jury to provide findings on specific questions. Rogers will consider the jury’s conclusions but will have the final authority over the case. The states are seeking financial damages as well as nationwide changes to Meta’s platforms. Their demands include stronger age restrictions, deletion of systems created using children’s data, limits on notifications and infinite scrolling, and changes to algorithms so that the well-being of young users is given greater importance than simply maximising engagement.
