Olivia Rodrigo criticizes Trump over Planned Paren…

Olivia Rodrigo has once again spoken out on a political issue, criticizing US President Donald Trump over recent changes to federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The Grammy-winning singer joined a new awareness campaign highlighting the impact that the funding cuts have had on healthcare clinics across the United States.

The campaign focuses on the consequences of legislation signed by President Trump that ended federal funding for Planned Parenthood, one of the country’s largest providers of reproductive and preventive healthcare services. According to the campaign, nearly 30 Planned Parenthood health centers have closed since the law took effect, raising concerns about access to medical care in several communities.

In the campaign video, Rodrigo voices support for people who rely on the organization’s services. She argues that the closures could make it more difficult for many Americans to receive routine healthcare, including cancer screenings, birth control, sexually transmitted infection testing, and other preventive medical services.

The singer has been outspoken on reproductive rights in recent years. She has previously used concerts and public appearances to encourage civic engagement and has supported organizations that advocate for reproductive healthcare access. Her latest campaign continues that advocacy, drawing attention to the real-world effects of policy decisions on patients and healthcare providers.

Supporters of Planned Parenthood say the funding cuts will disproportionately affect low-income families and people living in rural areas where healthcare options are already limited. They argue that the organization provides a wide range of essential medical services beyond abortion care and plays an important role in preventive health.

Meanwhile, supporters of the Trump administration have defended the funding changes, saying federal money should not go to organizations connected with abortion services. They argue that healthcare funding should instead be directed toward other medical providers that do not perform or support abortions.

The debate has once again highlighted the deep political divide in the United States over reproductive healthcare. While advocacy groups continue to challenge the funding changes, supporters of the legislation maintain that the policy reflects their longstanding position on the use of taxpayer money.

Rodrigo’s participation in the campaign has sparked widespread discussion online. Many fans praised the singer for using her platform to speak on an issue she believes is important, while others criticized her decision to enter another political debate. As with many celebrity statements on public policy, reactions have been sharply divided across social media.

Although the discussion surrounding Planned Parenthood funding remains highly controversial, Olivia Rodrigo’s latest campaign has brought renewed attention to the issue. By speaking out, the singer has added her voice to an ongoing national conversation about healthcare access, government funding, and the role public figures play in shaping awareness of major social and political issues.

Lacroix has put pen to paper on a six year contract with the Blues and will now join his new teammates for pre season training. The 26 year old has earned seven caps for France and featured for his country at the recent World Cup. Speaking after the move was confirmed, Lacroix said he felt proud to become part of a club with Chelsea’s history and winning tradition. He said his conversation with the club’s manager convinced him they share the same vision and ambition, adding that the quality of the squad and the resources around the club make winning trophies a realistic goal he is eager to help achieve. Lacroix joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg in 2024 and went on to make 98 appearances for the club. During his time at Selhurst Park, he helped Palace win the FA Cup, the UEFA Conference League and the Community Shield. The defender becomes the latest addition to new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso’s rebuilding effort this close season. Alonso has already overseen a British record 117 million pound deal for Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers and a 47 million pound move for Atalanta right back Marco Palestra. Winger Geovany Quenda and forward Emmanuel Emegha have also joined the club, completing transfers that were initially agreed last year. Chelsea have further been linked with moves for Brighton striker Danny Welbeck and Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson. The report was submitted after PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja approached the Supreme Court. His petition raised concerns about Imran Khan’s health and restrictions on meetings with him. According to the report, Imran Khan’s anxiety was recorded at “Level 3+”. The condition has been described as severe. A medical board examined Imran Khan on August 10, 2026. The board included specialists in eye diseases, cardiology and general medicine. The report states that Imran Khan is around 73 years old. His blood pressure was recorded at 140/80. His pulse was 54 beats per minute. His ECG was found to be normal. His chest was also clear. Doctors found his heart valves and chambers to be normal. The report says Imran Khan complained of heaviness in his head. He also reported feeling that his heartbeat was faster than usual. However, he did not report chest pain. He also did not complain of chest heaviness or shortness of breath. The medical board recommended medicines to control his blood pressure and anxiety. Doctors also recommended regular physical activity. The board suggested that Imran Khan should walk for one hour every day. It also recommended activities that could provide mental relaxation. The report recommends that he should be provided with magazines, newspapers, television and books. These activities could help reduce mental stress during his imprisonment. The medical board also recommended increasing the duration of meetings with Imran Khan’s family and wife. According to the report, greater family interaction could help control his anxiety and blood pressure. The recommendations come amid repeated demands from PTI leaders for greater access to the former prime minister. Jail authorities said Imran Khan receives regular medical attention. Medical officers reportedly check his food intake and conduct medical examinations three times a day. The report also states that several government doctors have examined him during his imprisonment. Records of these medical examinations have reportedly been maintained. The former prime minister has also received treatment from an eye specialist. According to the jail authorities, one of his eyes has now recovered to an almost normal condition. The report includes a summary of medical examinations conducted by 39 different specialists between November 4, 2023, and August 10, 2026. The jail authorities have asked the Supreme Court to dispose of the petition. They maintain that Imran Khan is receiving regular medical care inside the prison. The report also discusses the issue of meetings with Imran Khan. Jail authorities claimed that some meetings had been used to generate public sentiment against the judiciary, foreign policy and law enforcement institutions. According to the report, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi meet every Tuesday under jail rules. A total of 84 meetings between them have reportedly taken place so far. The document also states that Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar met him on February 10 and April 4, 2026. The medical report comes amid renewed political pressure over Imran Khan’s health and access to his family and personal doctors. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi recently announced a protest programme if Imran Khan was not allowed access to his family and personal physicians. The issue of Imran Khan’s health has become a major point of political debate. PTI leaders have repeatedly demanded better medical facilities and greater access to his personal doctors. A psychiatrist cited in the report said that “Level 3+” anxiety indicates a severe state of anxiety and distress. The psychiatrist explained that prolonged isolation and limited social interaction can worsen anxiety. Such conditions may also contribute to hopelessness and depression. He said regular interaction with other people can help reduce anxiety. He also recommended walking and exercise as useful measures for managing symptoms of anxiety and panic. The three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed will hear the petition. Justice Naeem Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim are also part of the bench. The court will examine the medical report and the concerns raised over Imran Khan’s health, medical treatment and access to family members and doctors.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a strong recovery during the first half of trading on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index climbing nearly 1,380 points before trading was temporarily suspended for the weekly Friday prayer break. The market opened on a positive note, extending gains throughout the morning session as investors returned to selective buying following recent losses driven by regional geopolitical tensions. By midday, the KSE-100 Index had risen 1,378 points, or 0.79%, to reach 176,926. During intraday trading, the benchmark touched a high of 177,108.66 before easing slightly. Trading activity remained steady, with more than 101.8 million shares changing hands during the morning session. The total value of traded shares reached approximately Rs6.96 billion, reflecting healthy market participation despite the shortened trading period. Trading was suspended at midday in line with the Pakistan Stock Exchange’s routine Friday prayer break and was scheduled to resume later in the afternoon. The market’s rebound followed a volatile trading week shaped by uncertainty in the Middle East and fluctuations in global oil prices. Investors appeared to set aside concerns over rising regional tensions and instead focused on attractive valuations in selected stocks. On Thursday, the benchmark index had closed at 175,547.98 after selling pressure weighed on investor sentiment. Friday’s recovery helped the market regain a significant portion of those losses. Broader market performance also remained positive, with the All-Share Index and several sectoral indices posting gains during the morning session. Market participants are expected to closely monitor both domestic economic developments and geopolitical events in the Middle East as trading resumes, with investors assessing their potential impact on market sentiment in the coming sessions.

Powerful 7.7 quake kills 20 in Indonesia

At least 20 people have been killed after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Flores Island early Saturday, triggering widespread panic, building damage and a series of strong aftershocks. The earthquake struck shortly before 5am local time at a depth of about 15 kilometres, according to Indonesia’s meteorological and geophysics authorities. The relatively shallow depth increased the potential for severe damage across affected areas. Indonesia’s disaster management authorities said several people were injured, with the figures still considered preliminary as rescue teams continue searching damaged buildings and assessing casualties. The strongest aftershocks included a 6.1-magnitude tremor, forcing residents to remain outdoors because of fears that weakened structures could collapse. Dramatic scenes were reported at the port of Maumere, where sections of a terminal building broke apart during the earthquake. A gangway leading to a ferry also collapsed, sending some passengers into the sea as people attempted to escape. East Nusa Tenggara Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena said some victims were killed while sleeping after rubble from collapsing structures fell on them. Residents described the earthquake as extremely frightening. People rushed out of their homes and moved towards safer areas, with many heading to higher ground after authorities issued a tsunami warning. The tsunami alert was later lifted about three hours after the earthquake when no significant rise in sea levels was detected. Authorities said around 2,000 people evacuated or moved to safer locations on their own during the warning. Officials reported fatalities in several provinces, including Sikka, Manggarai and East Manggarai. At least two people were seriously injured while 11 others suffered minor injuries. The earthquake also caused extensive structural damage. Initial assessments indicated that dozens of houses had been severely damaged along with healthcare facilities, places of worship, government buildings, an educational institution and a warehouse. Manggarai was identified as one of the worst-affected areas. Rescue and assessment teams are continuing to work in the region, although difficult mountainous terrain could make operations challenging. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, avoid coastal areas and stay away from buildings that have been damaged or weakened by the earthquake and aftershocks.
