Pattaya Strengthens Safety and Order in Soi 6 Entertainment Zone
PATTAYA, 27 July 2026 – Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City Wuttisak Roemkitkan chaired a meeting of entertainment venue operators in Soi 6 (Yodsak) at 2:00 p.m. yesterday, joined by Banglamung District Chief Officer Pichanon Thaweesuk.
Also present were Assistant Secretary to the Mayor Korn Phatthanasin, members of the mayor’s working team, heads of relevant government agencies, Police Lieutenant Colonel Siriwat Katchamat (Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Pattaya City Police Station), Police Lieutenant Colonel Amorntep Maima (Traffic Inspector, Pattaya City Police Station), the president of the Soi 6 (Yodsak) community, and representatives of local residents and business operators. The meeting was held in the Thapphraya Room at Pattaya City Hall.
Pattaya City, in cooperation with Banglamung District, is advancing an integrated policy to enhance safety and raise service standards in Soi 6 (Yodsak), a major entertainment and tourism area popular with both Thai and international visitors. This is to build public confidence in safety, improve Pattaya’s overall image, and minimize impacts on nearby residents and communities.
The gathering supports the Chonburi provincial governor’s policy of learning from past incidents and preventing fires in entertainment venues to avoid tragedies similar to those reported on social media. Participants stressed comprehensive safety measures, including fire prevention and suppression drills, training in the use of portable fire extinguishers, inspection and upgrading of electrical systems, installation of additional fire hydrants, and preparation of the environment for rapid tourist evacuation during emergencies.
Officials also addressed traffic congestion and area management. Measures discussed include designating continuous no-parking zones, establishing an emergency lane for ambulances, regulating side-car vehicles used for selling goods, and requesting that staff refrain from standing in ways that obstruct the roadway. Authorities further stressed strict enforcement against operating beyond legal hours and controlling noise levels, including vehicle horns, to reduce disturbances to surrounding communities.
One noted challenge is that certain sections of the soi are owned by Bangkok Bank, which has limited police enforcement options. Bank representatives, informed of the issue during a previous community meeting, have agreed to raise the matter with their executives to seek a joint solution with government agencies.
Deputy Mayor Wuttisak proposed the formation of a dedicated working group to oversee Soi 6 (Yodsak) and announced plans for intensive on-site inspections in the near future. The goal is to establish the highest standards of quality and safety for this key tourism destination for all visitors.
