Sajal Aly’s edgy photoshoot sparks debate

Pakistani actor Sajal Aly has become the centre of attention after unveiling a dramatic new fashion photoshoot that has generated widespread discussion across social media. Known for her elegant screen presence and natural beauty, the award-winning star surprised fans by embracing a bold, gothic-inspired look that marked a sharp departure from her recent television appearance.

Sajal, who is currently earning praise for her performance as Rabiya in the drama Zanjeerain, transformed her image for the latest editorial shoot by wearing a long black wig, dark-toned makeup and all-black designer outfits. The high-fashion concept presented the actor in a mysterious and unconventional style rarely seen by her fans.

The photos quickly went viral, attracting thousands of reactions on social media. While many fashion enthusiasts applauded Sajal for experimenting with a new aesthetic and praised her confidence in carrying such a challenging look, others expressed surprise and preferred her more natural on-screen appearance.

Several users admired the actor’s willingness to step outside her comfort zone, describing the photoshoot as artistic, stylish and visually striking. Supporters said the concept showcased her versatility as a model and performer, proving she can adapt to different fashion trends with ease.

However, not everyone was convinced by the transformation. Some social media users compared her appearance to fictional gothic characters, while others questioned the styling, saying they preferred the softer and more traditional look she has become known for in television dramas. A few comments also criticised the makeup and styling, arguing that it did not complement her usual appearance.

Despite the divided opinions, the photoshoot has succeeded in creating a strong online buzz, with fans and fashion followers continuing to debate the creative direction behind the project. Industry observers note that celebrity fashion editorials often aim to challenge conventional beauty standards and encourage artistic expression rather than reflect everyday style.

Sajal Aly has built a reputation as one of Pakistan’s most accomplished actors through her performances in numerous hit television dramas and films. Beyond her acting career, she has also become a prominent fashion icon whose public appearances and photoshoots frequently attract attention

AJK rejects firing allegations against forces

The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has strongly rejected allegations that security forces opened fire on protesters or were responsible for civilian deaths during the recent unrest in Rawalakot, describing the claims as false, unverified and part of an organised disinformation campaign. Responding to a report by the BBC on the recent incidents, the AJK government said armed members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee opened fire on security personnel in Rawalakot, resulting in the deaths and injuries of several officers. It also alleged that the attackers set multiple vehicles on fire during the violence. According to the government, security forces acted only to maintain law and order and enforce the law, insisting that civilians were not deliberately targeted during the operation. The AJK government cited information from the police spokesperson, who said seven security personnel were killed and 143 others were injured in firing allegedly carried out by armed members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee. It further claimed that the banned group has a history of violent activities. According to the statement, attacks carried out in 2024 and 2025 resulted in the deaths of four security personnel and left hundreds of others injured. The government also said two individuals arrested on July 28 and 29 were under investigation. It alleged that one of the suspects claimed a reward of Rs10 million had been offered for the killing of each Ranger, raising questions about the possible funding of the group. According to the statement, verified videos show armed individuals linked to the banned Joint Awami Action Committee using modern weapons and firing during the unrest. The AJK government maintained that law enforcement agencies carried out their constitutional responsibilities with restraint and professionalism. It insisted that no action was taken against peaceful civilians and that operations were conducted solely to restore public order. The government also categorically denied allegations of indiscriminate firing, the use of snipers or claims that bodies of victims were withheld from their families. It further alleged that the banned Joint Awami Action Committee had previously been involved in blocking roads, stopping or burning cargo vehicles and disrupting the supply of essential goods. According to the statement, law enforcement agencies made efforts to keep roads open and ensure the uninterrupted movement of essential supplies. The AJK government added that the Joint Awami Action Committee has been declared a banned organisation under the Anti-Terrorism Act and said all legal proceedings against the group are being carried out in accordance with the law.

Kimberly Van Der Beek honours late husband on wedding anniversary

Kimberly Van Der Beek has honoured her 16th wedding anniversary with James Van Der Beek. This marks the first time she’s celebrating the milestone without him by her side. The actor, best known for his role in Dawson’s Creek, passed away earlier this year. The 44-year-old took to Instagram to share her feelings. She reflected on the day she married him, calling herself the luckiest woman in the world at the time. She spoke about how their bond continues to grow stronger, even now. Kimberly credited their children for keeping that connection alive. She described how the beauty of their marriage keeps unfolding through the kids they raised together. She also shared a sense that James remains present in their lives, guiding the family forward. Her gratitude for the years they shared came through clearly in her words. This tribute carries the same emotional weight as her earlier statement. That post came when she first announced James had passed away. At the time, Kimberly wrote that James left peacefully, surrounded by courage, faith, and grace. She mentioned there would be more to share eventually. This included his wishes, his love for people, and thoughts on how precious time really is. For that moment, though, she asked for privacy. She wanted space to grieve her husband, the father of her children, and a beloved son, brother, and friend. James Van Der Beek died after a battle with colorectal cancer. He was 48 years old. He leaves behind Kimberly and their six children, a family he clearly cherished until the end. Their story captured hearts long before this tribute. James rose to fame playing Dawson Leery, a role that made him a household name in the late ’90s. His chemistry with Kimberly, though, extended far beyond the screen. Together, they built a life rooted in family and faith. Fans and followers have continued to send support since his diagnosis became public. Many have praised Kimberly’s strength throughout this difficult journey. Her willingness to share both grief and gratitude has resonated widely online. As the family navigates this new chapter, Kimberly’s words suggest a sense of peace. Even in loss, she seems to hold onto the love they built over sixteen years together.

PTI infighting deepens as Raja, Yousafzai trade al…

ISLAMABAD: Internal differences within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have intensified after a public dispute between central secretary-general Salman Akram Raja and party leader Mashal Yousafzai. The disagreement revolves around allegations linked to party tickets and internal decision-making. Both leaders have exchanged strong statements, further highlighting tensions within the party. Mashal Yousafzai had accused Salman Akram Raja of involvement in what she described as the sale of party tickets. Raja rejected the allegation and responded sharply. Raja questioned the credibility of the accusation. He said those who could not afford even a small amount to pursue a legal case had resorted to making serious allegations against him. He also questioned Yousafzai’s knowledge of the circumstances surrounding her Senate position. Raja said she did not know who had played a role in getting her elected to the Senate. Raja further stated that decisions regarding Yousafzai had been made on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He said he did not possess the authority to remove Yousafzai from the Senate. He added that not taking action against her at the party level was an act of leniency on his part. Yousafzai rejected Raja’s claims and responded with allegations of her own. She claimed that Raja had apologised to Imran Khan on one occasion but later resumed making public statements against her and others. Yousafzai also challenged Raja to take action against her if he believed he had the authority to remove her from the party. The dispute has attracted attention because both figures hold prominent positions within PTI circles. Their public exchange has brought internal disagreements into the open at a time when the party is already facing political and organisational challenges. PTI worker Shandana Gulzar also joined the debate. Gulzar accused Raja of making an incorrect statement about financial matters. She questioned the handling of funds allegedly received from the United States. She asked where the millions of rupees allegedly coming from the US had gone. Gulzar suggested that disclosure of the facts could create serious problems for those involved. The allegations made by the PTI figures have not been independently established. The dispute remains centred on competing claims made by the individuals involved. The latest confrontation has nevertheless raised questions about internal discipline and decision-making within the party.

President Masoud Pezeshkian meets Supreme Leader M…

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has held an important meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei as speculation over the president’s future continues to attract attention amid heightened tensions with the United States and Israel. The meeting reportedly came as Pezeshkian entered the third year of his presidency. It also followed reports suggesting that the Iranian president was considering stepping down, claims he has rejected. Iranian authorities have previously dismissed resignation reports as unfounded, while Pezeshkian has publicly indicated that he intends to continue serving. According to statements attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei on social media, the discussions covered a wide range of economic, military and strategic issues facing Iran. Among the topics were the economic needs of ordinary Iranians, the country’s military situation, access to resources and management of the Iranian rial, foreign currency and energy costs. The two leaders also discussed economic relations with foreign partners and the wider implications of the confrontation with Washington and Israel. The meeting comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Tehran. Iran remains under pressure from the continuing regional conflict and economic difficulties, while efforts to engage Washington have faced repeated obstacles. The reported contact is also notable because Pezeshkian recently said that reaching Mojtaba Khamenei had been difficult, prompting speculation about the supreme leader’s health and whereabouts. Reports in recent days have offered conflicting accounts about how and where senior Iranian officials have been able to meet him. Meanwhile, Iran’s diplomatic efforts with the United States remain uncertain. According to the material cited by Iranian officials, negotiations have been reduced largely to messages exchanged through intermediaries after earlier attempts failed to produce a lasting agreement. The political backdrop has also been complicated by reported tensions between the presidency and powerful military-security institutions. Some reports have suggested disagreements over decision-making and the conduct of Iran’s response to the conflict, although details remain contested. Pezeshkian’s political position has therefore become a subject of renewed attention. He was elected president in July 2024 following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. Mojtaba Khamenei, meanwhile, became Iran’s supreme leader in March 2026 following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the conflict. Against this backdrop, the latest meeting between the president and supreme leader carries significance beyond routine government business, particularly as Iran confronts economic pressures, military uncertainty and difficult relations with Washington. For now, however, Pezeshkian remains in office, while reports of his resignation have been publicly rejected.
