Showbiz rallies behind #JusticeForHina

A growing social media campaign demanding justice for 45-year-old Hina Javed has gained attention following her death in Rawalpindi, with actress Mahira Khan and other showbiz personalities expressing support for calls for accountability.

The hashtag #JusticeForHina has been circulating online as users demand a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death and urge authorities to ensure that anyone found responsible is brought to justice.

Hina was found dead on Thursday morning inside the bathroom of a second-floor apartment at Askari Apartments in Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area.

According to her family, Hina’s brother, Fahad Javed Malik, was alerted after receiving a call from her father-in-law about an emergency at the residence. Malik and other relatives reached the apartment and found Hina dead.

The family told police that Hina’s hands were tied behind her back, her mouth was covered with cloth and a wire had been placed around her neck and connected to the bathroom shower. Her body was later shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a murder case under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The provisions deal with murder and acts allegedly committed by multiple people with a common intention.

Hina’s relatives have accused her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, his father Asghar Ali Fayyaz and domestic worker Zeeshan Arshad of involvement in her death. The allegations have not been proven, and the suspects have not been convicted.

Her family has also alleged that Hina faced repeated physical and psychological abuse during her marriage. Her brother claimed that she had previously complained about mistreatment. He further alleged that her husband had also been abusive toward a previous wife, who later obtained a divorce.

Police are investigating the allegations and examining evidence recovered from the apartment. Civil Lines police have said that the investigation remains underway, while no arrests had been reported at the time of the latest statement.

Mahira Khan’s public support has brought additional attention to the campaign. The actress previously expressed grief over the incident and questioned how society raises men in the wake of violence against women. Her remarks were widely shared across social media.

Other showbiz personalities and social media users have also joined the calls for justice, turning the case into a wider public discussion about domestic violence, accountability and the protection of women.

For Hina’s family, the campaign represents a demand for answers about the circumstances that led to her death. The final findings will depend on the police investigation, forensic evidence and post-mortem report.

Karachi watchman shot dead during suspected robber…

Two people were killed in separate shooting incidents reported within an hour in different areas of Karachi on Thursday, prompting police to launch investigations into both cases. The first incident occurred in the Boat Basin police jurisdiction near Bath Island in Clifton, where a watchman was fatally shot outside a residential bungalow. Rescue officials shifted the victim’s body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities. According to Chhipa rescue officials, the deceased was identified as 40-year-old Mewa, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Initial information suggested that armed suspects opened fire after encountering resistance during an attempted robbery. However, Boat Basin Station House Officer (SHO) Riaz Niazi said the exact motive behind the killing had not yet been established. He confirmed that the victim originally belonged to the Thar region and was employed as a watchman at the bungalow where the incident occurred. The SHO said police were investigating all possible angles, including personal enmity and robbery, before reaching a final conclusion. Authorities are also attempting to obtain CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events. In a separate incident, another man was shot dead near Link Road on the National Highway in the Bin Qasim area. The victim was also taken to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal procedures. Bin Qasim SHO Faisal Rafiq identified the deceased as 40-year-old Bashir, a truck driver originally from Dera Ismail Khan. According to preliminary findings, Bashir was present at a truck terminal when unidentified assailants, who were allegedly lying in wait, opened fire on him. Police said the victim suffered three bullet wounds, including one to the chest. Investigators recovered three spent 30-bore pistol casings from the crime scene, which have been collected as forensic evidence. Officials believe the second shooting may have been motivated by personal enmity, although they emphasised that the investigation remains ongoing and no suspects have been arrested so far. The two fatal incidents highlight the continuing security challenges in Karachi, where police regularly investigate cases involving violent crime, targeted attacks, and robbery-related shootings. Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that may assist in identifying those responsible.

How Kanye West celebrated after settling ex-assist…

Kanye West appears to have put a lengthy legal battle behind him after reaching a settlement with his former assistant, Lauren Pisciotta. Just days after the civil lawsuit was resolved, the rapper was reportedly seen enjoying a night out in Ibiza, signaling a return to public life following months of courtroom headlines.  According to court filings, West and Pisciotta reached an unconditional settlement in the lawsuit that began in 2024. The terms of the agreement remain confidential, and Pisciotta is expected to formally dismiss the case within 45 days. West has consistently denied the allegations made against him throughout the legal proceedings, and the settlement does not include any admission of wrongdoing by either party.  Soon after news of the settlement became public, TMZ reported that West was spotted celebrating in Ibiza, Spain. The rapper was seen visiting one of the island’s popular nightlife venues, appearing relaxed as he spent time with friends. The outing marked one of his first public appearances since the legal dispute came to an end.  Lauren Pisciotta, who worked as West’s personal assistant and later as his chief of staff, first filed her lawsuit in June 2024. She accused the rapper of sexual harassment, wrongful termination and breach of contract. The complaint was later amended to include additional allegations, including sexual assault and sexual battery. West denied the accusations, with his representatives previously describing the claims as false and unfounded. No criminal charges were filed in connection with the civil case.  Although the settlement closes one chapter, West continues to attract attention both for his music career and his public appearances. The artist, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021, has remained a frequent subject of headlines over the past several years due to legal disputes and personal controversies.  Neither West nor Pisciotta has publicly commented on the specific terms of the settlement. Legal experts note that confidential settlements are common in civil litigation and often allow both parties to avoid a lengthy trial. Because the agreement remains private, it is unclear whether any financial compensation was involved.  For now, West appears focused on moving forward. His appearance in Ibiza quickly drew media attention, with many viewing the outing as a sign that he is leaving the legal battle behind. While the settlement brings an end to one of his most closely watched civil cases, the rapper remains one of the entertainment industry’s most talked-about and closely followed figures.

As a result, the market’s total value stood at Rs19.278 trillion at the close of trading. Market analysts said investors adopted a cautious approach due to uncertainty surrounding economic conditions and profit-taking after recent gains. Selling pressure in key sectors also contributed to the decline in the benchmark index. Experts believe investors will continue to closely monitor economic indicators, corporate earnings, monetary policy developments and government decisions that could influence market sentiment in the coming weeks. Any positive economic developments or improved investor confidence may help the market recover, while continued uncertainty could keep volatility elevated. Pakistan ‘not a hard state’, says DG I…

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Friday that Pakistan cannot yet be described as a “hard state,” stressing that the country’s laws must apply equally to all citizens without discrimination or elitism. Speaking at a press conference focused on the security situation in Balochistan, the military spokesperson said the briefing aimed to address concerns about the province and explain the broader national security landscape. He clarified that the term “hard state” does not refer to military rule but to a system where the rule of law is upheld uniformly, every citizen is treated equally, and all issues are resolved through legal and constitutional mechanisms. The DG ISPR urged citizens to balance demands for rights with their constitutional responsibilities. Referring to Article 5 of the Constitution, he said loyalty to the state and obedience to the Constitution and the law are fundamental obligations of every Pakistani. He added that national identity should take precedence over provincial or ethnic affiliations, emphasizing that every citizen’s foremost identity should be Pakistani. Highlighting the country’s counterterrorism efforts, Lt Gen Chaudhry said security forces have conducted 40,348 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across Pakistan so far this year, averaging around 194 operations daily, with a significant number taking place in Balochistan. According to the military spokesperson, security forces have eliminated 2,084 terrorists during 2026, averaging nearly 10 militants killed each day. He said 3,145 terrorist incidents have been recorded this year, while 819 people have lost their lives, including 303 Pakistan Army personnel, 194 members of law enforcement agencies, and 322 civilians. He also revealed that 28 suicide bombings have occurred this year, claiming that most of the attackers were Afghan nationals. He said Afghan citizens, along with individuals linked to Afghan security forces, were among those killed or arrested during counterterrorism operations. Comparing recent years, the DG ISPR said security forces killed 2,597 terrorists throughout 2025, while the total for 2026 has already reached 2,084. He noted that the effectiveness of counterterrorism operations has improved over time, with security forces now inflicting heavier losses on militant groups. Responding to questions about the increase in terrorist incidents, Lt Gen Chaudhry said militant groups affiliated with the Taliban have intensified their activities because Pakistan has adopted a firm stance against them. He added that the rise in reported incidents also reflects the growing number of proactive intelligence-based operations, which lead to more engagements between security forces and terrorists. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism and maintaining stability across the country, particularly in Balochistan.

Israel admits US jets used its bases for Iran strikes

US and Iran tensions remain high despite a fragile ceasefire, with fresh concerns over regional security, drone attacks and the future of the Strait of Hormuz. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said US aircraft had used Israeli airbases to launch strikes against Iran during the recent conflict. He said American aircraft had also used the facilities for refuelling operations before carrying out attacks. Iran, meanwhile, reported extensive damage to civilian infrastructure following the US strikes. Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Bushehr Airport had been severely damaged and was no longer operational. She said airports in Iranshahr, Semnan and Bandar Abbas were also affected. Mohajerani said the attacks damaged 12 bridges and two tunnels. She added that the main railway station in Bandar Abbas was among the affected infrastructure. Fishing boats, tourism businesses and other private property also suffered heavy losses. Iran also reported a significant reduction in its energy capacity. Mohajerani said the country lost around 230 million cubic metres of gas production capacity during the conflict. She also said about 350 government employees were killed during the war. The security situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains a major concern. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate discussions with his Saudi and Omani counterparts about the waterway and wider regional developments. The officials stressed the importance of cooperation and diplomatic efforts to restore stability. Oman has reportedly proposed a regional mechanism to manage the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal would involve voluntary contributions from countries using the strategic waterway. The funds could support navigation, environmental protection and search-and-rescue operations. The plan has received backing from regional countries, according to a Gulf source. It would also prevent Iran from exercising exclusive control over the important shipping route. The Strait of Hormuz is vital to global energy markets. A significant share of the world’s oil and gas shipments passes through the waterway. Any prolonged disruption could therefore affect international energy supplies and shipping costs. The conflict has also increased tensions between Iran and neighbouring countries. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted drones targeting locations in the kingdom, including petroleum facilities. Riyadh said the drones were launched from Iraq by Iran-backed armed groups. Saudi Arabia’s claims have been rejected by an Iraqi resistance group. The group denied responsibility for attacks originating from Iraqi territory and accused Riyadh of making repeated allegations against Iraq. The Gulf Cooperation Council and Egypt condemned the reported drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. They described the incidents as a serious escalation and expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty. Iran has also faced criticism over attacks involving its regional allies. A senior Yemeni official warned that the Houthis appeared to be following Iran’s approach to controlling strategic maritime routes after announcing a blockade targeting Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has stepped up diplomatic contacts with regional and Western partners. Its foreign minister spoke with counterparts from Qatar, Kuwait and Britain about the security situation and efforts to contain the escalation. Russia has also commented on the widening conflict. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Iran had the ability to defend its interests after a Ukrainian drone attack damaged an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea. Peskov described the incident as another escalation and warned that the conflict could spread geographically. The Iranian vessel was reportedly carrying steel cargo when it came under attack. Despite the growing tensions, diplomatic efforts have continued. US President Donald Trump said Washington and Tehran were holding positive discussions and that a deal could still be reached. He warned, however, that US military action could resume if negotiations failed. Iran has denied reports that it formally requested negotiations with Washington. Its Foreign Ministry said messages were still being exchanged through mediators and that Tehran had not abandoned diplomacy. Jordan and the United Nations have also called for the US-Iran ceasefire to be respected. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and UN Secretary-General António Guterres discussed efforts to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
