Ukraine claims strike on Russian weapons factory a…

Ukraine has claimed responsibility for a series of long-range strikes targeting key Russian military infrastructure, including a weapons components factory, a warship, and a cargo vessel allegedly linked to the transportation of Iranian military equipment. The announcement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said the operations were part of Kyiv’s continued efforts to weaken Russia’s military capabilities.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces carried out precision strikes overnight against facilities that support Russia’s ongoing military campaign. He described the attacks as a response to continued Russian assaults on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

According to the Ukrainian president, one of the primary targets was a factory in Russia’s Kirov region that manufactures components used in weapons deployed against Ukraine. Zelensky noted that the facility is located approximately 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) from the Ukrainian border, highlighting the growing range of Ukraine’s strike capabilities.

Ukraine also claimed to have targeted an oil refinery in Tyumen, a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg, and a fuel and supply depot in Rostov-on-Don. These locations are considered strategically important for supporting Russian military operations and logistics.

In addition to the strikes inside Russia, Zelensky said Ukrainian forces achieved significant results in the Caspian Sea. He claimed that a Russian warship and vessels allegedly involved in transporting Iranian military-related cargo were also targeted during the operation. Ukraine has not released further details regarding the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that one of its commercial ships was hit in the Caspian Sea and strongly condemned the incident. Iranian officials said the attack caused an explosion aboard the vessel, killing one civilian and injuring another. Tehran described the strike as an act of aggression and accused Ukraine of attempting to broaden the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Iran also stated that it would safeguard its national interests and security while condemning any attacks on its civilian maritime assets. The incident has added another layer of tension to an already complex regional situation involving Russia, Ukraine, and Iran.

The claims made by Ukraine and Iran have not been independently verified, and Russian authorities have not issued a detailed public response regarding the reported strikes. As the conflict continues, long-range attacks on military and logistical targets remain a significant feature of the ongoing war, reflecting the evolving nature of the battlefield and the growing strategic reach of both sides.

Questions mount over funding as violence mars London Kashmir protest

A protest held in central London in the name of solidarity with Kashmir has come under scrutiny following allegations over its funding and organisation, while reports of violence against a senior journalist have further fuelled controversy surrounding the demonstration. According to claims circulating among sections of the British Pakistani and Kashmiri community, around 50 coaches were arranged to transport participants from Bradford, Manchester and Birmingham to London. Some community members have alleged that the overall cost of the mobilisation exceeded £500,000 and have publicly questioned who financed the event, calling for greater transparency over its funding and logistics. Community sources further alleged that some families were offered a free day trip to London, including complimentary coach travel, to encourage participation in the demonstration. According to the sources, the offer attracted families who joined the trip. Allegations circulating on social media have also suggested that foreign elements including Indian agencies may have supported the protests through there frontmen’s Some members of the community further claimed that the number of British Pakistanis and Azad Kashmiris attending the protest was lower than expected, while participants from other communities appeared more visible. The demonstration was overshadowed by the alleged assault on senior Pakistani journalist Murtaza Ali Shah while he was covering the protest. 22 dead, 183 injured in Punjab rains

Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Umar Abbas has said that 22 people have died and 183 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across Punjab. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Abbas said the Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions received the highest rainfall during the recent spell. He added that the water situation in the Ravi and Sutlej rivers remains normal. According to the PDMA chief, a breach developed in an embankment in Sheikhupura, but authorities immediately repaired it and filled the gap. Abbas said new machinery had been acquired under the Punjab Development Programme to improve the province’s ability to respond to emergencies. He claimed that water accumulation this year was three times lower than last year. He said the authorities had also completed the cleaning of major drains before the monsoon season to reduce the risk of urban flooding and waterlogging. The PDMA director general said Punjab’s electricity infrastructure is outdated, and relevant authorities are reviewing several issues concerning the power system. He further said that encroachments and people living in riverbeds have been removed as part of measures to prevent casualties during flooding. According to Abbas, protective embankments are also being constructed at several locations along rivers to strengthen flood protection and minimise the impact of rising water levels. The latest figures highlight the continuing risks posed by heavy monsoon rains across Punjab, while authorities are monitoring rainfall, river levels and vulnerable areas to prevent further loss of life and property.

Voicemails for Isabelle: A heartfelt romance about…

Voicemails for Isabelle is a 2026 Netflix film. With a runtime of 1 hour and 48 minutes, it falls into the genre of romantic comedy and drama. It has received a rating of 7.8/10 on IMDB. Directed by Leah McKendrick, it features Zoey Deutch (Jill) and Nick Robinson (Wes) as its leads. The plot is simple but different. Izzy or Isabelle is Jill’s sister. She is suffering from cystic fibrosis and is unable to make it. Jill and Izzy share a strong sisterly and friendly bond with each other, and as Izzy leaves the abode, Jill is left broken. Jill lives in San Francisco and is sending voice messages to her deceased sister. However, the messages are somehow delivered to Wes, a real estate agent. As Wes and Jill cross paths, they fall in love. Wes tracks Jill down and comes to San Francisco. Will Jill really accept Wes as her soulmate even after she learns the truth about the voicemails? Watch the film to find out! In the subplot, Jill is also a student learning culinary from a master chef. As the chef practices nepotism, Jill is angered and builds her own food truck, throwing an insult right at the chef’s face. Jill and Wes’s chemistry is compelling, driving the film’s momentum. The movie transcends typical romcoms, emphasizing sisterly love as a source of healing rather than focusing solely on romance. The film has faced criticism for its unsettling elements. Wes receives the voicemails and pursues a relationship with Jill without initially revealing his identity, which many find disturbing. The film is similar to the 90’s film, You’ve Got Mail. Except there are letters that are being posted whilst here it’s the voicemail that is speaking. In both cases, there is a stalker at the front. The soundtrack is catchy. It wins the heart of the viewer. The cinematography is great, just as the visuals are too. Jill says: “My body is like a sacred temple.” The sentence in a nutshell holds the true meaning of love. Love is not about carnal pleasure. Love is more than just the physical aspect of it. Love is about understanding and compromise. For Jill, love is sacred. And it isn’t something that is present for any person. When one falls in love, it is with one person. And that is love- holy and religious. In conclusion, Voicemails from Isabelle is very much like the recent film Obsession. Obsession, too, is a dark romance. It is about freaky love. Just as freaky as the love between Izzy and Jill and Jill and Wes. Voicemails from Isabelle is a well-made film. The dialogues are well delivered with a good selection of actors, and the thematic concern of how to find true love is rendered well. The film resonates with the viewer and is a great watch! Hats off to the entire cast and crew for coming up with a brilliant storyline. Kudos. make it proper title

Sindh Cabinet approves increase in conveyance allo…

Karachi: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that the Sindh Cabinet has approved an increase in the conveyance allowance for provincial government employees. The revised allowance will apply to employees in Grades 1 to 16, providing financial relief in light of rising transportation costs. Addressing a press conference following the Sindh Cabinet meeting, Memon said the cabinet had taken several important decisions covering governance, public welfare, economic development, and disaster preparedness. He stated that the meeting approved a six-month extension of the health insurance program for employees working at the Governor House and Chief Minister House to ensure continued access to medical facilities. The provincial minister further announced the establishment of multiple task forces to strengthen governance in key sectors. According to him, specialized task forces have been formed to focus on the economy, investment, finance, and water resources. In addition, the cabinet approved the creation of dedicated task forces on climate change and artificial intelligence to address emerging challenges and explore opportunities for technological and environmental development in the province. Memon also revealed that the Sindh Cabinet has approved a strict crackdown against the production, sale, and distribution of gutka and mainpuri, both of which are widely consumed forms of smokeless tobacco. He said the Department of Narcotics Control would be responsible for taking legal action against those involved in the illegal trade of these products. He added that the provincial government is also working on new legislation to further strengthen enforcement and curb the menace of hazardous tobacco products. Speaking about the agriculture sector, Memon emphasized that the Sindh government does not want farmers to suffer losses. He claimed that existing laws prohibit restrictions on the transportation of wheat, but alleged that Punjab has blocked the movement of wheat by sealing border points. He condemned the restrictions, arguing that they were negatively affecting the free movement of agricultural produce. He further stated that this year’s wheat harvest had been exceptionally good but acknowledged that some individuals in Sindh had engaged in wheat hoarding. To stabilize wheat supplies and discourage hoarding, Memon announced that the Sindh government plans to import 500,000 metric tons of wheat. He added that the province would also purchase wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO). According to him, these measures would ensure sufficient wheat availability in the market while causing significant financial losses to those involved in hoarding. The minister also announced plans to establish a 400-acre truck terminal on Karachi’s Northern Bypass. He said the project would improve transport infrastructure, facilitate logistics operations, and help reduce traffic congestion within the city.   Highlighting preparations for the ongoing monsoon season, Memon said that all relevant provincial departments and emergency response agencies had been placed on high alert. Referring to recent heavy rains across the country, he expressed concern over the loss of lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, claiming that these incidents had not received adequate attention in sections of the media. He stated that both urban and rural areas of Punjab had been severely affected by heavy rainfall and that widespread destruction had occurred across the country due to the ongoing monsoon. According to Memon, 17 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Punjab, while 20 people were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Commenting on the ongoing elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Memon alleged that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was violating the election code of conduct during the electoral process. He urged all political parties to respect democratic principles and ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
