Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G hits a new low price
Now £249 instead of its £299 RRP
Budget smartphones must not only offer sufficient performance for apps, streaming and communication, but also the longest possible battery life for everyday use. Those who are often on the move, in particular, benefit from a large battery and fast charging.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G, with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, is currently available on Amazon for a bargain £249. You also get £30 credit added to your account to spend later and students can save a further 10% on the device.
The device has only been on sale for a matter of days, making it one of the newer models in the Redmi range. This early bird deal is only available until 5 October, so you need to act quickly.
You can choose from all three colours and the 256GB model also has £50 off, bringing the price down to £279.
We’ve just reviewed the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and found the battery life incredibly impressive, among other things. Other new Redmi Note phones are also on sale at Amazon right now:
- Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G – £359 (£70 off)
- Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G – £429 (£70 off)
What the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G has to offer
The first thing that catches the eye is the 7700mAh battery, which is much higher than the average budget phone.
According to Xiaomi, this enables up to 2.54 days of use or 26 hours of video playback. It has a TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification and you can get one free battery replacement service within 36-months.
The battery charges at 45W, which is faster than many phones twice the price. Xiaomi also mentions a wired reverse charging function with up to 22.5W, allowing the smartphone to supply power to other devices such as headphones.

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 with 5G is used as the processor. The Redmi Note 17 5G supports the 5G mobile network standard. Xiaomi also mentions a memory expansion option, which is said to provide up to 12GB of RAM.
The display measures 6.99-inches and is based on OLE technology. The refresh rate is up to 120Hz with DCI-P3 colour gamut and up to 1800 nits peak brightness.
This is designed to ensure a smoother display, particularly when scrolling and during animations. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is used for protection, which can withstand a 3000-cycle scratch resistance test and the phone is also IP65 rated for dust and water.
A 50Mp rear camera is available for taking photos, as well as features like Dual Video, and AI Creativity Assistant to improve your shots. Other features you don’t always get with a phone this cheap include multi-functional NFC, an IR remote control and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The smartphone runs on HyperOS with six years of security updates and is available in all three colours with 128- or 256GB of storage. According to the specifications, the package includes a phone case, a quick start guide, a SIM tray ejector tool and a USB cable.
Xiaomi also offers a three-year manufacturer’s warranty. This comprises two years of standard manufacturer’s warranty and an additional year. According to the supplier, activation of the additional year is not required.
Why this is a good deal
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 5G is particularly appealing to users who prioritise long battery life, a large display and a durable design. The 7700 mAh battery is the device’s standout feature, outclassing the vast majority of rivals such as Samsung. It also comes equipped with 5G, 45W fast charging and up to 256GB of storage.
In terms of price, this offer is particularly attractive at the moment, as the Redmi Note 17 5G has reached its lowest price to date. Instead of the RRP of £299, it is currently priced at £249. This saves you £50, or 17%.
Ultimately, the current price is particularly attractive if you’re looking for a 5G smartphone with a very large battery, screen and features you don’t often find at budget prices.
