The Red Collection, from RS Autohaus

BaT Local Partner RS Autohaus in Glen Cove, New York, presents this collection of nine speedy road cars unified by their red bodywork. Among the bunch are low-mileage examples of crowd-pleasing Porsches like a sub-1,000-mile 997 Turbo Coupe and a sub-2,000-mile 992 GT3 Touring, as well as two mid-engine V8-powered Ferraris in Rosso Corsa. The wildcard here is a Ford Focus Saleen N2O, the only car model ever equipped with a nitrous oxide kit from the factory. Bringing it back down to Earth is a a nicely-equipped Signal Red R129 500SL from 1993.

1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet M491 Turbo Look

Right out of the gate we have one of the more iconic sports cars of the 1980s, a spoilered and flared Porsche 911 Cabriolet with the M491 “Turbo Look” package. This rear-engine ragtop is finished in Guards Red (L80K) over Cashmere Beige leather and features a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, as well as a Porsche Classic head unit. April 2026 service included a brake fluid flush, new front and rear trunk struts, new sway bar end links, and a fresh fuel filter.

918-Mile 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe 6-Speed

This 997.1 Turbo Coupe wears Guards Red inside and out, with body-color interior accents on the console and surrounding the air vents and instrument cluster. Heck, even the factory fire extinguisher pays off the red-and-black theme. The original owner chose driver-oriented equipment like the Sport Chrono package and a factory short shifter, though the car has been driven a scant 918 miles since new.

6k-Mile 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet 6-Speed

This 997.1 911 is the late-model equivalent to the M491 Cab in Guards Red over black leather, but bests its predecessor with a turbocharged engine good for 480 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque as well as all-wheel-drive. The car left the factory 18 years ago with 28 individual Exclusive options including extended leather, deviated-color stitching, carbon-fiber trim, adaptive sport seats, a fire extinguisher, and a locking rear differential. It has traveled just 6k miles since.

1,800-Mile 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring 6-Speed

The GT3 Touring is usually more understated than its winged and striped counterparts, but this Guards Red example commands a little more attention—not only because of its color, but thanks to bold accents like gold side lettering and centerlock wheels, as well as a carbon fiber roof panel. Other desirable equipment includes carbon-ceramic brake rotors, a front axle lift, rear-axle steering, and the Chrono Package.

1996 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta 6-Speed

The first mid-engine car in the Red Collection is this F355 Berlinetta in Rosso Corsa over black Connolly leather. A howling Tipo F129 40-valve V8 lives behind the cockpit, and its pitch is modulated by a gated six-speed manual gearbox. A Challenge-style mesh rear grille and Scuderia shields round out the appearance. The dreaded sticky buttons have been taken care of, and an engine-out service in 2024 was accompanied by new brakes, springs, radiators, and tires.

16k-Mile 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider

Fast on the heels of the F355 is this Rosso Corsa F430 Spider, which features beige Daytona seats with red accents. The car included some $31k of extras on the original order sheet; roughly half of that amount was allocated to the carbon fiber pieces adorning the cockpit and engine room. Power is from a 483-horsepower F136 V8 backed up by an F1 automated transaxle, and F1-style drive settings are controlled with a switch on the steering wheel.

11k-Mile 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SL

1993 was a good year for the pre-facelift R129 SL, and this Signal Red over beige example is exceptionally well preserved with just 11k miles on the clock. The car also features the much-lauded 32-valve M119 V8 and Aero-style AMG-branded wheels with fresh Michelin Pilot Sports in addition to period options like a trunk-mounted CD changer, center console cassette storage, and a factory telephone.

24k-Mile 2004 Ford Focus Saleen N2O 5-Speed

The final car in the collection is a bit of an outlier, what with its full back seat and front-wheel-drive layout. But it is an interesting and welcome addition, as one of less than 300 Saleen-converted specials. Saleen made over the sharp-handling hatch with a body kit, a biplane spoiler, Racecraft suspension, uprated brakes and anti-roll bars, a front strut-tower brace, and special interior trim. But that’s not all: 2004 was right in the middle of the Fast & Furious era, and like Brian O’Conner, the kids needed NOS. Saleen outfitted each N2O with a direct-port wet nitrous system, plumbed and ready, with an empty bottle waiting to be filled. But like any good speed parts merchant, Saleen knew that “if you drive with a heavy foot, you’ll blow yourself to pieces.” Thus, anyone who turned on the gas would void their factory warranty. Thankfully, in this case said warranty expired decades ago, so that won’t be a risk for any future owner who wants to dose this rare hot hatch.
