A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“Son of the late owner here. My dad found and imported this car (and a few others, including the recent Woodie Fiat Topolino on BaT). He had a collection of several dozen vintage European cars, including many Ferraris, Alfa’s, Lancia, Fiats, Porsches, etc. He was a perfectionist when it came to cars and became more interested in hot rods like this one as time went on because they were more fun to drive on the gorgeous NY back roads. “I just want to say that this car has brought so many good moments to my husband and I through the years. So many shout outs……fun at car shows…..he drove it to our wedding….we rode home in it after. It’s been a part of most of our life celebrations in some way. He passed away this year and it feels time to let someone else make a memory with it. Whomever gets it, I hope you enjoy it as much as we have ❤️”

“From all the trips I did in my classic cars (60s Jaguars, air-cooled 911s or classic Ferraris) the most memorable one was in a TVR to the Monaco Classic F1 Grand Prix in the early 2000s. Speeding on the German Autobahn, crossing the Swiss Alpes and driving the curvy canyon roads in the Provence down to the French Riviera in my dream car as a student, the TVR Griffith 500.

“I remember these. I’m 74 now, but In 1965 or so I saw an ad somewhere and sent off for a flyer. Dad was going to buy a Ford Wagon and I thought, cool. I was maybe 14 at the time but they sent me a brochure. I also got a brochure for a Piper Apache but didn’t buy one of them either (I did get my pilots license though in the 80’s). We got the wagon but not the camper. Slept in the back of the wagon many times. It was a beast.”

“Pontiac sure had some pretty cars in the Sixties. They’ve aged well too. Great to see two Pontiac B Bodies with three pedals on BaT in the same week… how unusual is that?
This car would have a circle of admirers at every Cars and Coffee you drove it to… elegant and much less common than the A Body cars of the era. Truly the “executives’ hot rod” especially with a four-speed.

“Funny story – I was trying to find a correct new radiator cap for the TR4. I had gotten one from a British parts supplier, but it didn’t fit correctly. I grabbed my identical radiator from my project TR4 and went to the local parts stores to see what they had. Total strikeout. I went to Panda Express with TR4 radiator caps on my mind and got this fortune cookie. I immediately sent a picture of it to my wife saying “Looks like I’m getting another car!”.”

“Anyone buying an RX7 that’s been sitting for a long time should assume it needs apex seals unless proven otherwise. The dash and radio are lit up in some pics, so the car has electrical power. I’m guessing lack of power is the result of a few horses escaping the engine bay.
This FD is quite tempting. I have a few solutions for lack of power sitting in the corner of the shop ;)”

“I own a higher mileage AZ-1 just like this. It is awesome. Obviously the new owner will likely keep this stock, but upgrading the suspension to the Navic coilovers and adding a stiffer roll bar front and back dramatically changed the handling. It went from leaning SUV in the corners to go-kart. Just my 2 cents.”
