A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“Also nice that they kept it in original Lime Gold. Probably only half the cars produced still in this wonderful color. My buddy just repainted his back to original Lime Gold after 40 years being Wimbledon white.”
“My hats off to the builder of this 55. Seldom do I see a car that has had all the body work done properly. Take note people, when you take it down to bare metal you’re doing a great job and less likely to have a chemical reaction from previous paint jobs. With the body having a top notch job you know that the rest of the car was built right.”
“Rusty Hammer had always known where he fit.
Thirty years behind the same counter in the same hardware store in Fort Stockton will do that to a man. He was the one folks came to when something broke. Hinges, pipes, doors that wouldn’t close right. Rusty had an answer for all of it.
Until one morning, he didn’t.
It wasn’t dramatic. Just him standing in the hinge aisle, staring at shelves he’d stocked a thousand times, realizing he couldn’t remember why any of it…”
