“What a great time capsule. I would do just enough to get this one safe and roadworthy once again, and drive it with a permanent smile. This ol’ goat needs to “Break Away” from the barn, and stretch her legs on the open road once again! =)”
“We take care of several of these at the marina.
Strong hulls from that era.
The V-Drive is far superior to the stern drive version too. C-C built them both ways.”
A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“Buy it, drive it, join us a few times a year to stare at each others cars and meet great people. Cool community for a car that is surprisingly easy to drive. My first road trip was Tail of the Dragon in January ‘24 my 16 yr old at the wheel…memories forever”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“The missile appeared at Earl’s Salvage Yard & Formalwear on a Tuesday morning.
At least that was what Hairless B29 called it when he walked into the Grounds for Divorce and announced that Earl had acquired a rocket.
Angus Hopper continued buttering his toast.
“How big?”
“Three feet, maybe.”
Angus looked up. “That ain’t much of a rocket.”
“It’s streamlined.”
This was apparently sufficient evidence to bring Rex Hall into the investigation. By nine…”

“The Story Here…
As an automotive magazine publisher, editor and motor journalist in the ’80s and ’90s, I was privileged to attend many unique and amazing press functions and receive highly-specialized literature regarding the cars being launched. From the Highlands of Scotland to the South of France. From the US Continental Divide to the jungles and rain forests of Guatemala and Belize. From small back mews of the English Midlands to palatial manor houses in London. What a time it…”

“WOW! I’m exhausted. Congratulations ttscout. I hope it meets all your expectations and then some. Excited to work with you to get the details done.
Thank you for all the comments, questions, compliments and interest.
I’ve now been on both sides of a BAT auction. Both are equally exciting, fun and nerve wracking. I need a beer.”

“Lauterbach hulls are indeed special as is the family. Thanks for the heads up about the book and reunion. If there was a way to get to the event it sure would be fun.
Back in the 1970’s on Seattles Green Lake were some special times. We would sit on the beach with a battery operated B&W 2 inch TV screen watching Indy and at the same time enjoy the boat races. Some hard core racing with Larry Lauterbach and then Tom D’Eath piloting Lauterbach hulls against John Leach’s Buccaneer.…”

“My great grandmother was one of the first VW owners in Montana. I think she was on her third VW when she purchased one just like this, same color, in 1962-63, from the dealer in Butte. By this time, my great grandfather had stopped driving, so she drove them everywhere. One road trip took them west to Seattle, down through San Francisco and finally to Phoenix before heading back home via the Grand Canyon and other sights. Quite an adventure–but just one of many–for two old fuddies in a…”

“My family has been the proud steward of this remarkable 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham for nearly 70 years, and it has been one of our most treasured possessions. My father purchased this car new in 1957 as a gift to my mother, and it has been a part of our family’s story ever since.
My father, Ralph S. Peer, was a pioneering figure in the American music industry; the A&R executive behind some of the most historically significant recordings ever made, including Crazy Blues, the first…”

“The car that blasted through Porsche RR7 at Laguna Seca Raceway in Oct 2023. I could remember being invited to the unveiling of the GT3 R Rennsport. Patrick Long was introducing this beauty in the hot pits at Laguna Seca Raceway outside of garage 12. Great memories capturing this beauty through the crowd of enthusiasts and gear heads at 9:30 pm at night after day one of Porsche’s RR7. One of the best modern day GT cars by Metzger and Porsche.”

“A cool Ferrari moment I thought I would share, the Mondial was the only model Ferrari pope John Paul II was ever seen in. This picture comes from the Pope’s visit to the legendary Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy back in 1988. He later celebrated Mass at the Fiorano Circuit racetrack. Instead of traveling in the regular Popemobile that day, the Pope took a ride in one of the Ferraris that was waiting for him at the factory. The mondial remains an icon with timeless pininfarina lines, mid…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“Hi:
I’m Bob Gunthorp. I have a 1959 190b Binz station wagon Binz body number 1540. It is registered as a 1963. I purchased it in 1984. They are a fun car to drive and they attract attention everywhere that you take them. In 2012 I showed the wagon at the Mercedes-Benz Club National StarFest event in Phoenix AZ. The wagon is a “driver” car and not 100 point restoration. To both my surprise and amazement the wagon received the judge’s choice award.
Bob G.”

“I had one of these ‘beasts’ back in the 1970s, nowhere as nice as this Mercedes. I terrorized northern Virginia & the D.C. area for several years…..it sounded like a washing-machine full of marbles & smoked like I was spraying for locusts! But that Benz ran for ever, even on kerosene!
I wound up trading it for a Nikon motor-drive camera. My Mercedes wound up as ‘yard-art’ in Annapolis, Maryland…..but that diesel engine ran for years operating hoist equipment on a ‘waterman’s’…”

“Stunning car! The 5 speed transaxle fitted to Boras was also used in other cars- the deTomaso Mangusta and Pantera, Ford GT40s, BMW M1s.. perhaps others I’m not aware of. A robust unit of considerable versatility, it is still in production in the USA by RBT Inc. The ZF 5DS-25 (its actual name) has been through several revisions, including adding a sixth speed, I think. Its only vice is that it’s hard to obtain and when you can, it costs STACKS of money.”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“Jimmy Don Ventura had owned enough unusual automobiles over the years to believe he understood the public. He’d driven a lime-green AMC Gremlin, a Triumph Spitfire that leaked oil with the determination of an East Texas mosquito, and a Plymouth Barracuda that had once stranded him in front of the Dairy Twin during the lunch rush. Every one of them had attracted comments, questions, and unsolicited mechanical advice from complete strangers.
Then he bought Fred.
Officially, it was a 1949…”
