“Hello BaT universe! I am the owner, craftsman, artist of this X-34 Landspeeder tribute vehicle. Since I couldn’t acquire the real one from that galaxy far, far away, (the import/transport fees would have been “astronomical”) I decided to build one to commemorate the upcoming 50th earthly anniversary of this iconic movie vehicle. I am looking forward to all the comments, questions, and bids.”

“When I scroll BaT, I’ve always held out hope I’d come across two cars: my dad’s ‘66 E Type, and this car. I sold this car to the current seller. Bought when I was 14, restored it, drove it through high school and into young married life. Sold it when I was broke with a growing family to support. Broke my heart to sell it, but clearly I sold to the right individual. Car looks absolutely amazing. I’ll start the bidding with the last sale price…”

Rod unfortunately is no longer with us but there is a lot more info on his legendary existence.
with that being said, i invite anyone who knew or knew of Harold Allen and or his talents to share any stats and stories with us and the same with Rod?
i am sure @BajaBronco / Andrew and @Todd_Z. and @House along with a handful of others will have some important history and…”

“Hidden mods to make it pleasantly drivable in the modern world are brilliant. The New Hampshire shore is perfectly suited for a top-down cruise but to be long enough add some inland winding roads through fields and forest. One of my favorite places in the world.
My Mom in Exeter, near Rye, lived to be nearly 102 and enjoyed being taken on the same shoreline drive every weekend till the end. She and my Dad were avid and skilled sailors and she loved to gaze out at the whitecaps and gulls…”

This Super will be the companion to my 1970 GTV 1750 in LeMans Blue. As a DIYer I can’t wait to give it a once over. All the Alfisty out there can be assured that this ’73 Super is in good hands.”

“I saw the cover photo and said, ‘ooooh.’
    Now this is pretty.
Is it fair to say that these are just below the playing field of a PORSCHE 356?
These early low light GHIAS exude so much class and elegance.
The lines, the colors, the styling. Everything about these is pure class.
I am an early Beetle guy who always wanted a PORSCHE 356 to fulfill my Late Fathers dream but way they are out of my league. This might be the next best thing.
Never give up on your dreams.”

“Just a big thank you to the entire BAT community for making my first sale such a pleasant experience. If the winner of this auction enjoys owning this car half as much as I did building it and showing it off, then there be 2 very happy guys-the seller and the buyer. Thanks again.”

“Just a quick note from many years of experience with the various GTO continuation cars from Terry Hoyle and Rod Jolley.
Absolutely no one executed better examples ever. They were freakishly correct even down to the most minor details.
At various times, I had access to both original Series One, 250GTOs and 64 GTOs as well as having a Terry Hoyle copy in the showroom. They were indistinguishable from each other and would fool even the best experts if they did not see the chassis…”

“I own a 1938 Flying Squirrel. The engine number is one digit away from this bike and the frame number is two digits away. When I contacted the Scott Club Registry to authenticate my bike I was advised that 220 Flying Squirrels were produced (500cc and 600cc versions combined) in 1938. The whereabouts of 101 were known. Of those, twenty had the redesigned detachable head as does this bike. GLWTS”

The E model has smaller numbers, but probably is the best driving street machine out of all the early cars. 1972 model to boot! For a little background, this car was purchased brand new by an airline 747 captain living in Tiburon, CA. Years later I find myself working for that same airline. “Man, already at $4M before I could get my comment in….
I want to thank the team at BaT for bringing us so far. It is amazing to cross the quarter million auctions milestone together.
And a big thank you to the @1600veloce team for helping us mark the occasion with this beautiful 288. Anthony gets so much well-deserved credit, but it takes the whole team there to do the amazing things they do.

@bringatrailer Randy I want to thank you for all the support and the fun ideas we have bounced off each other all these years. This listing like any listing, can be a bumper for an MG to a Halo Ferrari. It all belongs here. The best site, the best community.

I still have my 35th anniversary 5 speed version, and it remains a pleasure to drive unlike most crude live axle domestics of the era.”
