“What a great time capsule. I would do just enough to get this one safe and roadworthy once again, and drive it with a permanent smile. This ol’ goat needs to “Break Away” from the barn, and stretch her legs on the open road once again! =)”
“We take care of several of these at the marina.
Strong hulls from that era.
The V-Drive is far superior to the stern drive version too. C-C built them both ways.”
A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“At the end of the film, The Conversation, Cindy Williams (Shirley of Laverne and Shirley) is seen getting into an MB 600 Pullman, which belonged to Francis Ford Coppola, who directed the movie. Coppola won the 600 on an earlier wager with Paramount. The studio wasn’t sure if “The Godfather” was going to be a hit, but he made them promise him that if it was, they’d buy him any car he wanted, as he was weary of schlepping around with his film crew in an old station wagon. So he said “I…”

“I can’t believe this is a 12 year-old wagon. This design has aged so well and I imagine it will continue to do so. Perfect sinister look to match the wicked motor underhood!”

“These cars did not have a rope rear main seal, although there was a short section under the rear of the sump. They had a threaded slinger at the rear that thru oil back into the engine as it ran. With time and bearing wear this became less effective. It can be adjusted to improve function and there is a lip type seal available from several sources that might improve things if installed correctly, although all this requires engine removal. These old cars can leak from several places and it is…”

“I own a 1938 Flying Squirrel. The engine number is one digit away from this bike and the frame number is two digits away. When I contacted the Scott Club Registry to authenticate my bike I was advised that 220 Flying Squirrels were produced (500cc and 600cc versions combined) in 1938. The whereabouts of 101 were known. Of those, twenty had the redesigned detachable head as does this bike. GLWTS”

“Great spot on the 2022 gearbox oil typo.
Our technicians during that time and during 2023 and 2021 records are all former trained factory Lamborghini guys. You can look them up!
As you can see both Motul and Lucas gear oil was used in 2021 and 2023, so I am very confident this is a “ShopWare” typo.
Our software system in the shop was very clunky until recently.
The former owner was very fussy, this is one of the best 1996-1997 Diablo Roadster examples we have seen. The car was…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“My Dad and I were at our local Ford dealer buying yet another LTD for family use back in the day. Our sales guy was working on my Dad’s most recent offer (a little game they played). A car carrier truck pulled up front at the dealership and our salesman got all crazy. He said his new ’71 Mach 1 was on the truck and would we mind if he took a minute to get it on the ground. Dad said sure and we all went out to see a very red Mach 1. They got it off the truck and the new owner was just giddy with…”

“Quick comment here! See the white sticker on the bottom corner of the windshield on driver’s side? This is the genuine RCA sticker for parking lot, when Pat Ieraci owned this Volvo since it was new. Pat Ieraci was the influence with RCA to sign Jefferson Airplane. I emailed with (the late) Ieraci’s daughter. She remembered the Volvo with fondness and said her father dearly loved the car. We owned the Volvo and sold it to the present owner. My husband is a life-long master mechanic and…”

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:
“The missile appeared at Earl’s Salvage Yard & Formalwear on a Tuesday morning.
At least that was what Hairless B29 called it when he walked into the Grounds for Divorce and announced that Earl had acquired a rocket.
Angus Hopper continued buttering his toast.
“How big?”
“Three feet, maybe.”
Angus looked up. “That ain’t much of a rocket.”
“It’s streamlined.”
This was apparently sufficient evidence to bring Rex Hall into the investigation. By nine…”

As an automotive magazine publisher, editor and motor journalist in the ’80s and ’90s, I was privileged to attend many unique and amazing press functions and receive highly-specialized literature regarding the cars being launched. From the Highlands of Scotland to the South of France. From the US Continental Divide to the jungles and rain forests of Guatemala and Belize. From small back mews of the English Midlands to palatial manor houses in London. What a time it…”
