“As a Norwegian, I am baffled by this car being used to ferry kids in the don’t stick out-culture of Sweden rather than any person knowing how to change gears. “Beautiful B12 5.7. FYI – this car came with the CSi front spoiler when new from ALPINA. I have the information on all B12 5.7 E31 Coupes and which front spoiler they were delivered with. One could either spec the ALPINA lip or CSi front spoiler when specing the car when new. This car also started life as a CSi. Contrary to common thought, not all B12 5.7s started life as a CSi, but that is for a different discussion at a different time. Beautiful color – Ferrari Red.

Yes, the engine produced 430 HP at 5200 RPM’s but Chevy failed to mention it produced
Over 550 HP at 6200 RPM’s
The “low” HP published at a time when insurance companies were taking a close look at high performance cars”

“A turquoise R2 4-speed is the quentessential Avanti and very few other cars for the same money will draw more attention.
However, been so long since I have seen an Avanti MSRP window sticker, I’d forgotten Studebaker had the unmitigated gall to ding the buyer $20 for TV advertising and $50 for Metro advertising. Go figure!
I bow to no man in my love for the Avanti, but it was always costly and this just seems to be added insult to injury.

“I’ll tell you, when I was a kid in the ‘80s I thought the two coolest cars in existence were the Countach and the 928. I held them in almost equal regard. I’m happy to see a pinnacle 928 getting the love!”

“The original owner of this car was a friend of mine and I can vouch that this car is everything it is claimed to be. John was a lifetime “collector” and over the years he bought a number of brand new vehicles, drove them home from the dealer, and never drove them again. For him, it was all about “having”. When he was a youngster in the 70’s and 80’s, he was well known in Studebaker circles for his cross-country road trips in his fleet Studebaker Diesel trucks.
