The gauges and the OEM CB are the chef’s kiss to complement this newfound proper-power Diesel.

“This is SW, this car belonged to me for quite a while. I purchased it as a 4 speed A/C car. It was extremely nice, straight with a beautiful undercarriage, which was the main reason I bought it. The Paint was nice but I am very picky so we disassembled it and had it blocked and resprayed. It drove amazingly well. After a few years I sold it to a friend so I wouldn’t take it apart and make it a restomod like all my others. He had a 5speed installed, drove it some but since he owns over 75 other…”

“I see something like this and am reminded of the “ad specials” that were ordered for the newspaper ad wars for the lowest price on a given model to create showroom traffic. This no option car would’ve been a typical ad special in a metro dealership. I’m reminded of a tan (band aid color) new 76 Granada at the Ford dealership I worked at. Brand new advertised for $3999.00. A true “5 tires 2 keys and a heater” car. No power steering, radio delete, vinyl bench seat 3 speed column shift…”

“My late friend Joe Sheppard competed against Fangio at Sebring in 57. Joe was driving a Lotus Eleven and won the under 1500 cc class. His co-driver was Lotus founder Colin Chapman. Joe said you could feel the 450S coming up to pass long before you could see it. I hope you have great success with your auction.”

The Magnum was so unexpected in the industry it was classified as an SUV. I stalked my local dealers in order to take out the first 300C Hemi in town for an extended test drive. I don’t think anyone anticipated the decades of twists and turns in front of the basic package that surprisingly (to me) continued with strong sales to the point it busted…”

“Somewhat related, gearhead Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) took part in a documentary “La Carrera Panamericana” in the early 1990s, which is just awesome. Wonderful cinematography of the actual race, with Pink Floyd as the soundtrack.
I stumbled upon the VHS in a bargain bin in the mid-’90s, but it’s all over YouTube now.
