“Now this myth I’m pretty sure is in fact a myth. But you never know. British Leyland engineers deliberately made their engines leak oil to keep the frames from rusting.”

Actually, MMO is great stuff. But the myth I wish were true is the one about the guy who answers an ad for a (insert very desirable car here) at a astonishingly low price, asks to see the car, gets directions, sees the car, which is beautiful, buys the car (from an attractive woman in her forties, say) and she hands him the signed title. He can’t resist asking why she sold the car so cheaply, and she tells him that her husband ran off with his secretary. Part of the divorce agreement was that she would sell the car and give him half the proceeds…..You all have probably heard this one at some point…

Welcome to the BaT Question of the Week! For those unfamiliar, here are the rules: we ask an automotive-themed question, and the author of our favorite answer from the comments is awarded a $25 credit to the BaT Gear Store.
This week, we’re asking: What’s one automotive myth you wish were true?
Over the years, plenty of automotive tall tales have been busted. But there are some that we desperately wish were true, like flipping the air-cleaner lid for a bump in horsepower.
So put aside the myth-busting—today is about wish fulfillment!
What’s one automotive myth you wish were true?

Let’s start with a run-of-the-mill, garden-variety 200 hp two-barrel 350 Chevy in a ’70s pickup.
Intake manifold +35 hp
Carburetor +20 hp
Headers +35 hp
Dual exhaust +30 hp
K&N +15 hp
Splitfire spark plugs +10 hp
8mm plug wires +10 hp
MSD box +25 hp
Flex fan +20 hp…….
Got yourself 400 hp without ever opening up the engine….and that’s before you put all the stickers on that came with the parts.
The stickers alone would’ve added another couple of dozen horsepower.
