“One of America’s coolest four door sedans ever built, in a beautiful rare color, in excellent condition. Wow!”
“A rare Terminator here. Only 610 Redfire ‘verts rolled off the assembly line in ’03, and only 196 of those had the Parchment Suede seat inserts. GLWA!”

Have Fun,

“I love the early SHOs and had an 89, purchased in 92 while a young engineer at Ford. The car enthusiasts either had SHOs, fox body Mustangs or a Porsche (if you were willing to take the abuse from the neanderthal managers who were “only buy Ford” zealots). Once the first year gremlins were sorted, they were reliable (for a Ford) and perhaps the best all purpose sport sedan of the time. I love that Yamaha power plant and it is bulletproof, making sweet sweet sounds all the way to the little…”

“In 1978, just after graduating from college, I held three jobs, waiter in a restaurant, a raft guide in nearby West Virginia, and a luthier. I would work in my wood studio from monday-friday and then hop in my old volvo with my lab to drive to WVA for my Saturday work on the New or Gauley river, then back on Sunday for my 12 hour shift at the Virginian in Charlottesville.
As a 24 year old I had all the energy in the world. In those days the interstate had not yet been completed in WVA so I…”

“Hi everyone, I bought this incredible 850 with the intention on keeping it forever. Plans change and unfortunately it’s time to part ways. I have had an amazing past year with this car but by far the highlight has to be the road trip home from Calgary to Florida. Instead of heading straight back we headed west thru Banff, Vancouver, Olympic National Park, Redwoods, Monterey Car Week, and Yosemite. I picked up a mattress from Ikea and slept in the back the whole way. 10 days, 5,100 miles and 0…”

GLWTA!”

“My son was racing our Datsun roadster in D Production one of the times Paul ran in the same class at Daytona. He wandered up to our crew working on our roadsturd. His crew had sent him to borrow a multimeter. He would just show up and pay the late regristration fees so everyones crew wouldn’t be packed with “crew” there just to catch a look at him as a star. I think he enjoyed just being one of us club racers. Very pleasant to talk to. He wasn’t in a hurry to get back to his crew who might have…”

“I am just imagining the amount of time in sourcing all of the proper items from clamps and hardware hoses plating to recreating spot welds. The sheer amount of time would be daunting. @groceg summed up very well in his post.
I for one I am glad bring a trailer posts are archived and available for reference.
No need to say good luck with the auction. More of a need to congratulate the future caretaker, complement the work done, and the seller.”

“My first car was a 1979 5 door GLE in this same color combo… it was 1987 in Syracuse NY, so there was already rust starting to consume the rear end of that beauty. I drove the hell out of that car lugging amps and guitars to gigs in high school. By the time I graduated in 1989 the rust won and I sold it to a guy who raced SAABs on a frozen lake nearby… her engine and those glorious front red-ish bucket seats went on to live their best life racing in ice rally’s! Her “GLE” badge still…”

“Thanks all! Beautiful auction. Candidly, I know nothing about these cars! I am a Ferrari guy. The way I see it, my dream car is a 250 California spider and this is as close as I’m ever going to get. I’m going to drive the wheels off of it and, if anything should ever happen to the motor, I’ll throw a Colombo in there and will be halfway home!”

“Wow! Not many cars show up here that makes me gasp, but when this rare (and wonderful) car appeared in my alerts, it got my attention. Back when these first came out, I was a college kid who had a 1988 Mazda cab plus pickup. The local Mazda dealer was very close to campus so getting it serviced there was super easy. This is back in the day when dealers were not always big shiny, fancy buildings. The dealer was small. The showroom held one car and had wood panelling.. but one day, while my truck…”

“On my dog walks about once every two weeks, only on sunny days, a 442 that looks to be identical to this car drives by me. I’ve yet to be able to check out the car up close. The sound of that car is amazing. The look of that car is amazing. snap my neck following it as it goes by. Probably one of the best looking cars in my town, and there are plenty of nice cars. These cars wear yellow really well. The tasteful black stripe accents are icing on the cake. Necking snappingly beautiful. Like…”

“Ditto to that! Awesome look. Have a 93 myself and live in Austin.
Pearl Black 199 with gray interior and 120,000 miles. Have had sine 101,000 miles and about 3 years. Awesome ride.
What is the history of the car pre 2009?
How about service records?
Where was it serviced in Austin? Ben’s?
I’ll be out of town on a e500 road trip from Austin to Midwest to northeast and southeast then back early August.
This car was made for the road!
Even getting 20 mph!
Looking forward to seeing where…”
