“in all this auction excitement, I’ve devoted a certain amount of my morning coffee time searching the internet for my own Ferrari 288 GTO – a number of which are thankfully within my price range, including Walmart, for about $100.
However, due to their scaled down 1:18 size and non-running status, it’s unlikely I’ll be driving it anywhere other than “my imagination” during this lifetime.

“Another interesting fact thanks to Andy is this car was shipped on August 17, 1965 and delivered to Hayward Motors in CA and on the deliver truck were two additional 350’s as well as a prototype GT40….now that would be a cool truck to see driving down the road!!! This car is a statement piece and one of the true great American muscle cars.”

“This is what the first-gen Celica liftback was meant to be. We got what was spec’ed for US market, same chassis but with the big 5mph bumpers and a much lower-performance engine. The 20R is great for a truck, but 100 hp at 4800 rpm isn’t as much fun as an 18R-G140 hp at 6500 rpm in a sub-2500 lb car.

Apparently, at least for the initial wave or first year, dealerships had the option having all their S2000s fully equipped with aero accessories or non of them equipped. “I ordered one of these, a British Racing Green unit in NYC and put $25 down on it. It was priced at $6641.00. I didn’t inherit any money when I turned 21 like I told the dealer I might and had to release it to sell to someone else. It did show up on the showroom floor and that was the last time I saw it. I later converted the front of my MGA to look like a cobra… and then changed it back when I made it my first race car… This was in 1965.”

“I never thought I would say it, but, as this car shows, the cool factor for Cads has surpassed BMW, Audi, and Porsche. They finally got their interiors right too. Apparently the market agrees. The average transaction price for Cadillac is now $90k – more than BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, and behind only Porsche and Range Rover (you can’t really get any Porsche for $90k any more so that isn’t surprising).”
