BaT Auction Success Story: Too Many Cars, but Room for One More You Should Know

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member northstrand, who won this 2001 BMW Z8 from NHD4OSU in an August 2025 BaT auction:

I had owned two silver Z8s before, and I wasn’t looking to buy another one. I had been spending my time searching for Italian and British cars with American drivetrains. I currently own a ’64 Apollo 5000 GT convertible, a ’67 Ghia 450SS, and a Maserati Mistral with a Z28 Camaro engine. But I also own a ’73 Jensen Interceptor convertible, a Panoz Esperante, and a Sunbeam Tiger. I even bought an XKE with a 350ci Chevy V8 on BaT a few years ago. 

So what happened? I saw a red Z8 listed on Bring a Trailer. I must have lost my mind—I read the listing and threw in a bid. Admittedly, I already have too many cars, but before I knew it, I had won the Z8! How was this possible? 

A few weeks later, the car was delivered to me. OMG. If I had seen it in person, I probably would’ve bid higher. It truly looks like a one-owner car, hardly driven. Now, the Z8 is in my top five. 

I’m so happy that I won this car. My wife and I switch off driving privileges. We own over 20 cars, so we have to spend some time driving the others. Nonetheless, I love looking at BaT, and I browse the site two, three, even four times a day. I wish I had more to say, but the Z8 is calling me for a drive. Thanks for reading this.
