We mentioned that if you could justify it, going for a contrarian pick was a viable choice for our question this week, which was: What’s your favorite “city car?”

You staked your claim for a nice variety of “city cars.” The iconic Fiat 500 received the highest number of mentions, though it was used as an example in our original post. That means that this week, we’re exercising our Editorial Privilege and awarding the prize to the nomination that stood out to us the most. And that came from @mr3000, who put forward the Honda City Turbo II and Motocompo combo:

Our question this week was: What’s the best car to come out of the 2000s?

Thanks to everyone who participated! It’s hard to believe that the year 2000 was 26 years ago, but then again, the 1990s were only ten years ago. Right? RIGHT?! Anyways, the S197 Mustang, the Honda S2K, the Ford GT, and the Carrera GT finished in a dead heat this week, so we turned to the thumbs to break the tie. With a cumulative 25 likes as of this writing, the Ford GT is this week’s winning nomination. BaT member @Ranchero65‘s comment nominating it was also the most liked by the community, but @2caddiesandaMach1 was the first to it:

“Simple: Ford GT. I do believe many shall agree.”

Thanks to everyone who participated! We broke out our exhaustive engine start checklist, fired up the laptop, and went to work reviewing your comments. Your suggestions were diverse, and in the end, John Dodd’s “Beast” and the STP-Paxton Turbocar received the most nominations. Seeing as the latter was the subject of a 2025 QotW win, we’re exercising our Editorial Privilege and handing the win to The Beast! And the first to it was BaT member @jglowe77:

The prize goes to BaT member @kens, who widened the scope with a quote from a 1980s Ferrari advertising campaign (who knew Ferrari did ad campaigns?):

“When Ferrari introduced the 308 GTS, their advertisement read; “What Can Be Conceived Can Be Created”. Well, that opened the door to a fifteen year engine swap project. I introduced an Alfa Romeo V6 3.0 24V into a mid-engine Lancia. I am rather certain that for the same amount of time and effort, I could have created a Fortune 500 company.”

Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s QotW, where we asked: What’s the dumbest warning label you’ve seen in a car?

We would normally be disinclined to be presented with various liability disclaimers, but we were chuckling at the various warning labels you shared with us this week. The “Objects in mirror are closer than they appear” warning on cars’ passenger mirrors was a popular nomination this week, although we would hardly consider it a dumb reminder.

So we’re handing the prize to a comment that stood out the most to us, which came from BaT member @Porsche1931:

“On the sun visor, in a Boxster it says, and I quote,”The safest place for children is the backseat” 🤨, you want an eight year old to sit in the engine bay? Sound more dangerous than the airbag to me…”

Thanks to everyone who participated. Many of your nominations involved a number of cacophonous sounds following a disaster, and these certainly harkened back to last year’s spooky season QotW: scariest noise your car has ever made.
Warning buzzers from the 1970s and 1980s were quite popular in this week’s comment thread. Amid safety regulations, the unruly noises proliferated in American automobiles during the 1970s, and BaT member @CrownRegal told us a funny story about a 1973 Buick LeSabre that tried to warn him when it was already too late:
My first car in high school was a 1973 Buick LeSabre.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in! Since the Italian translation for Jolly is “Joker,” it was serendipitous that thiss question landed a day before April Fools’ Day, but your answers were anything but a joke. BaT member @IsAlwaystheAnswer left the most-liked comment this week for the Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet. But seeing as he’s a three-time QotW champ, we went with another one of our favorite nominations, which came from @shakingthrough for the Citröen 2CV: 

“How about a Jolly Citroen 2CV – France’s version of the People’s Car. It was designed to carry a basket of eggs through a freshly ploughed field without breaking any. Instead put a cooler and picnic basket in the back, and you could certainly traverse a rocky beach in style.”

This week, we asked: What’s the biggest repair you’ve pulled off in an auto parts store parking lot?

Having to do automotive repairs in an auto parts store parking lot (or adjacent) could be considered an instance of an inconvenient situation arising in the most convenient of places. After reading everyone’s comments, we’re awarding the prize to the user whose comment stood out the most to us this week. That comment comes to us from BaT member @Jim_Rosenthal:

“Two of us changed a VW engine in the parking lot, but it wasn’t the parts store parking lot. It was the parking lot NEXT DOOR to a parts store parking lot. Because we’d fitted the engine tin wrong, one cylinder overheated and seized (this is evidently not unusual) Since neither of us had much money, and VW engines don’t weigh much, we decided to do it right there. There are many things I would not attempt now, for any amount of $$$. This is now one of them.”
