    Our question this week was: What 2001 car would you import in 2026?

    Thanks to everyone who participated! You showed plenty of enthusiasm for a wide variety of cars from around the globe. In the end, the Renault Sport Clio V6 and Avantime, along with the VW New Beetle RSi, were tied in nominations. So we turned to the thumbs to determine our winner. With a cumulative 18 likes as of this writing, the Sport Clio V6 is this week’s winning nomination, and BaT member @wh400 was the first to it right out of the gate:

    sludgo Rides Shotgun with gear-ku: A Practical Look

    BaT member gear-ku is a real old-timer who joined the site back in December 2007! He was genuinely surprised when I tracked him down and asked if I could Ride Shotgun with him for the third installment of this series. Told him we could go anywhere he wanted to go. He said his activity on the site had slowed, but he still visited regularly. I told him I missed his haiku and he gave an easy laugh. Shrugged his shoulders and told me to hop in. I didn’t hesitate and a conversation about all things ensued, ranging from engine fires to the makings of a good nightclub backline to the joy of finding your Forever Car. Hope you enjoy the ride!

    It’s been a few years since we released a BaT Charity Calendar, and after a couple rounds of books and some cool collaborations with The Piston Foundation, we decided to produce another round of calendars, this time for the benefit of Feeding America, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that will be receiving 100% of the full sale amount, with all production and printing costs covered pro-bono. Feeding America is a nationwide network of food banks, food pantries, and local meal programs doing the good work of helping people meet their most basic needs at a time when that’s getting harder for many families. Four staffers air their viewpoints on this cinematic event, which was formative for many BaT community members under “a certain age”; they discuss favorite cars, missing cars, terrible shifting, worse jargon, fender stickers, underglows, 10s in 2001, and more.

  • BaT Auction Success Story: KevinBN7 Refreshes the FB — Explained

    Back in November 2022, BaT member KevinBN7 won this 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE from Ljstew, who had kept it for 37 years. KevinBN7 recently penned this update to tell us about the work he’s done since.
    In the fall and winter, my Sundays typically end with leafing through BaT to watch the cars I’d like to keep an eye on. This RX-7 was listed locally to me, and the auction was set to end on Tuesday. I reached out to the owner and viewed the car on Monday with a commitment to make a run at winning it.
