“I made a comment on this auction before an epic 10 day trip to Italy. I’m back. The auction is still going!
I was in northern Italy (Milan and Lake Como) and guess how many Ferraris I saw?
One. One solitary 296… in ten days.
My son: “Dad, where are all the Ferraris?”
Me: “In the USA.””

“Mezger engine block was literally built to be wailed on at redline for 24 hrs straight, it’s nearly impossible to destroy it, you have to be intentionally holding it past redline for probably 1 hr+.
Reminds me of the old cash for clunkers video where they emptied the oil pan on an 80 series landcruiser, put it in neutral, and floored it. It took like 20+ mins at past redline for the engine to give out with no lubrication.”

“I have and would drive any 200 cross country. Bring a couple spanners 10mm 13 mm pop into advance grab some coolant and oil, bring an extra thermostat and you should be good to go.
If coming west stay off 80 at night when rainy lol. 200’s are the best when on point.”

“In 1979 a friend of mine’s brother bought a new first year RX-7. I had the opportunity to drive it. My car was a 1200 cc Corolla. By comparison the RX-7 seemed so fast and handled like it was on rails. In retrospect they only had about 100 hp, but I thought I was in a fire breathing racecar. Fun times!”

“I’d have this strange compulsion to get it running, but that probably illustrates my OCD more than my actual knowledge of this listing’s current value and purpose. To be honest, in all my years I’ve never known anyone to have an outboard motor on display in their home. Motorcycles? Sure. Bikes? Of course. Even Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Shelbys, oh my. Dead center of the living room on most occasions. But an outboard motor? Whoa. And one this cool? Double Whoa.

“I’m having a stroll down memory lane this morning. My mom owned this 914 for about 33 years. She loved this car and enjoyed thousands of miles behind the wheel. She ran it a few times in the late 70’s and early 80’s in Corvette/Porsche rallies. I cruised the Puyallup loop in it back in high school. Got beat in a drag race against at Mustang. I can share some vintage photos of the car if the new buyer would like them. GLWTA I will be watching fondly. By the way it was originally bronze.”

“So an observation of a very obscure Honda factoid. This car has the dealer installed, recall program Takata black plastic guides still in place on the front seat belt latches. The Honda and Acura recall notice back then stated there were complaints about the front seat belts not latching properly. This was Takata’s solution. “in all this auction excitement, I’ve devoted a certain amount of my morning coffee time searching the internet for my own Ferrari 288 GTO – a number of which are thankfully within my price range, including Walmart, for about $100.
However, due to their scaled down 1:18 size and non-running status, it’s unlikely I’ll be driving it anywhere other than “my imagination” during this lifetime.
Perhaps my NEXT lifetime.”

“Another interesting fact thanks to Andy is this car was shipped on August 17, 1965 and delivered to Hayward Motors in CA and on the deliver truck were two additional 350’s as well as a prototype GT40….now that would be a cool truck to see driving down the road!!! This car is a statement piece and one of the true great American muscle cars.”
