“I’m the previous owner of this rig. We used it primarily as a rolling billboard for our RV Campground… had our logo on the side. Really drew attention. I can tell you it really drove better than I expected, several hundred miles freeway and highway with no issues. I did add LT tires on the back as well as the booster shocks to help with rocking/swaying. It’s much lighter than it looks, when i bought it three of us picked it up by hand and loaded it on a trailer.”

“Clearly this was an emotional purchase. This is SAAB Number 19 for me, started with 3 cylinder 2 cycles, a pile of 99’s including a 78 Turbo, and then on to the 900s. My wife converted from GM to SAAB with an 83 Turbo before we were married then a 87 Turbo that we brought both daughters home from the hospital in. Daughters still driving 9-3’s we bought them in high school.
My wife really really wanted this car, so as a good husband I had to get it done.”

“On vacation in Europe with my parents in 1965 we were in traffic next to a Ferrari similar to this. Have a vague recollection of the paler blue metallic, a far stronger impression as the traffic cleared was the howl as it disappeared down the road.
My father didn’t give chase in our Austin 1100.”

“That fuse panel is as good as it gets for 48 years old, no wiring hacks, clean relay blocks, no signs of burnt fuse terminals. And all the fuse positions have the correct fuse in them, and fuse 13 is supposed to be empty. Gotta love the hand-painted stripes on many of the wires, these early cars are full of little easter eggs like that.
Definitely worth the hassle of getting the pics to instill bidder confidence!”

“My hats off to the builder of this 55. Seldom do I see a car that has had all the body work done properly. Take note people, when you take it down to bare metal you’re doing a great job and less likely to have a chemical reaction from previous paint jobs. With the body having a top notch job you know that the rest of the car was built right.”

“I did the rear disc conversion on this truck many years ago. It was done using front hubs (bolt right on) and RRC /DI rear rotors and calipers. I never liked the way Land Rover cheaped out on the factory rear Salisbury disc setup by using the narrow drive flanges with short splines that strip out easily and short spindles with narrow spaced bearings… That’s why I used to do it this way, retaining the far better wide drive flanges and longer axle spline engagement, with wet splines. At the time it still had it’s original paint and by looking at the pictures I think it still does.. “Exact car, down to the color, my Uncle had. My parents borrowed it in August, 1959 when we went to get our first Weimaraner from some people in Illinois. My first dog, remember the trip, I was 4. We had a DeSoto 2 door sedan (1952) at that time, unsuitable for transport of a very large pup!
Paint was dull on his wagon I recall. Downright chalky. Within the next year or so he traded it on a brand new Ford Taunus wagon. (Now there’s one you NEVER see.)”

“Kudos to the seller for all of the pics! For those of us who’ve been around BaT for awhile you may remember the BaT feature “Where They Rust”.
