“I’ve seen these cars in person when they were new at Straman’s over next to the Orange County Airport. The workmanship is superb. No one believes me when I say that there was a convertible CRX.
More importantly than that, no one believes there was EVER a teddy bear wheel made for any car – and I’ve told stories about them on a Volkswagen Cabriolet I once had. I have only ever seen ONE at a tire dealer. Never a complete set.

Gary Hall, whose wife used one as a daily driver (!)… told me to correct the odd handling , you need to change to larger shocks, change spring rates, change to stiffer suspension bushings, change tire pressures with radial tires. I did on my earlier car #804 and it worked wonders! My current cat #1096 has updated revisions including QA-1 shocks, springs and factory updated engine and transmission mounts. It drives flawlessly. “Lauterbach hulls are indeed special as is the family. Thanks for the heads up about the book and reunion. If there was a way to get to the event it sure would be fun.
Back in the 1970’s on Seattles Green Lake were some special times. We would sit on the beach with a battery operated B&W 2 inch TV screen watching Indy and at the same time enjoy the boat races. Some hard core racing with Larry Lauterbach and then Tom D’Eath piloting Lauterbach hulls against John Leach’s Buccaneer.…”
