“Last summer the Eastern PA Chapter of the Audi Club did it’s annual covered bridges drive and ice cream run. A very fun and spirited ~150 mile drive. I show up in my 1989 80 Quattro, my wife drove our 2001 TT 225 Roadster, and a guy I had never seen before at any Audi event shows up in one of these. Jaws dropped. He was super nice, down to earth, and had no problem with any of us getting in and checking it out.”

The service writer put “Aspen” on the repair order, so my grandfather asked him to correct it. Confused, the service guy walked over to his car and pointed at the “Aspen” badge on the side of the car. They walked around to the drivers side and were greeted by a “Volare” badge! “Good memories on this BAT auction. We had a 2005 Freestar SES that we drove from 2005 to 2019. Had 250,000 miles. Took my son to 1st day of kindergarten and also helped him move into college his freshman year. 3 trips to Disneyworld, trips to Toronto, NYC, Pittsburgh, several to Indiana etc. Was a great riding van, large gas tank, decent milage. Made it from Disney to south of Raleigh on 1 tank. Our SES was the “sport ” version, this is the top of the line. We had some electrical issues…”

“The 8.1/Allison combo makes these trucks virtually bulletproof. Sure, they sip more fuel than their diesel sisters, but the buy in price and cheapness of maintenance and repairs make it much less of an issue. I sold mine 5 years ago and have regretted it ever since. It towed a 12k 5er all over the west, no problem. Uggh!”
