“For reference, the H2R is capable of pushing speeds well over 225, with some claims upwards of 250 mph, while cranking out almost 330 hp. The supercharger has to spin almost 10 times faster than the crank, so at full rev the impeller is spinning approximately 130,000 rpm and pumping over 50 gallons of compressed air into the motor every second. It was designed and developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ aerospace division.
    Impressive engineering, don’t you think?”

“This model was developed as a competition Enduro machine with the help of John Penton, who rode one to the AMA National Enduro Championship in 1969, it’s first year of production. Malcom Smith also earned a gold medal with one in the ISDT. Unlike the Cross and other HVA models, it did not have a fully floating rear brake. Riders preferred the Cross models for desert racing. For the Baja, Smith ran the 8-Speed in a Cross chassis.

    “What a fantastic driving video!
Maserati’s 200S and Si were giant killers in their day with only the bigger engined Ferrari 860 Monza/290MM, 315 and 335 Sports able to keep up. The Maserati 300S and 450S were faster but never had the breaking or handling of the 200S and Si models.
This is by far one of the best and the spares package alone worth the currently humble bid!
    Cheers,
    Bill”

“Son of the late owner here. My dad found and imported this car (and a few others, including the recent Woodie Fiat Topolino on BaT). He had a collection of several dozen vintage European cars, including many Ferraris, Alfa’s, Lancia, Fiats, Porsches, etc. He was a perfectionist when it came to cars and became more interested in hot rods like this one as time went on because they were more fun to drive on the gorgeous NY back roads. The car would have received /anything/ recommended by Frank…”

So many shout outs……fun at car shows…..he drove it to our wedding….we rode home in it after. It’s been a part of most of our life celebrations in some way. He passed away this year and it feels time to let someone else make a memory with it. Whomever gets it, I hope you enjoy it as much as we have ❤️”

“Thanks P 38. I went to college driving a new R1 with air-conditioning. And automatic. I dated.my wife in a red Avanti. Married in 1965 and sold the Avanti get a car with a bench seat for our daughter’ s car seat. I have known where my original car is but have tried unsuccessfully for 30 years to buy it. When this car came along, I said what the heck. I’m excited to have a supercharged car and relieve some old memories. That is a lot of what the old car hobby is about.”

“I grew up in my family’s Pontiac dealership that opened in 1967. Crazy about high performance Firebirds & GTOs, especially the rare & special round port cars. From RAII in 1968 (356 cars), RAIV in 68 & 69 (1808 cars), 455 H.O. in 71 & 72 (5037 cars) and the last of the Mohicans, SD-455 in 73 & 74 (1296 cars). With over 4000 Pontiac dealerships back then most never acquired a single super duty during the two years of production. They were insanely hard to get. Our store…”

Gary Hall, whose wife used one as a daily driver (!)… told me to correct the odd handling , you need to change to larger shocks, change spring rates, change to stiffer suspension bushings, change tire pressures with radial tires. I did on my earlier car #804 and it worked wonders! My current cat #1096 has updated revisions including QA-1 shocks, springs and factory updated engine and transmission mounts. It drives flawlessly. I drive mine year round (as long as there ‘s no snow or salt on the roads) and 95% with the top down (only in inclement weather) no matter how cold! I’ve gone all over New England, down to PA and back, upstate NY, and always get home.
