“My grandfather bought one of these new back in the day and got a surprise when he picked it up after its first scheduled service at the dealership. The service writer put “Aspen” on the repair order, so my grandfather asked him to correct it. Confused, the service guy walked over to his car and pointed at the “Aspen” badge on the side of the car. They walked around to the drivers side and were greeted by a “Volare” badge! “I bought this car intending to enjoy driving it, and I did. I’ve owned this Viper since April 2000 and have kept it longer than any other car I’ve owned. It has spent its life just south of Houston. I’ve enjoyed it enormously over the past 26 years, including four driving schools and 5-6 autocross events. I’m selling it because I’m almost 70 and the Viper has become harder for me to get in and out of and to drive without pain (2 surgeries on the ball of my left foot). I hope its next owner…”

If the buyer wants to know any of the history, I can provide info for the period that I owned it. @IanC – When I sold it, I did include the Jaguar Heritage Certificate with it. Since I got it so long ago, it looks much different than the ones you get today. Hopefully, it’s still with the car. The colors are original – Opalescent Silver Blue with dark blue interior and top. “What a cherry looking little car! 1963 remains my favorite year for the Type 1 1200 Sedan and seeing one like this, in stock spec after years of well-loved ownership just makes me smile! Everyone has a VW Story and this VW has a great story all on it’s own.

“That Sport Top is an incredibly rare accessory. Not many were sold and few have survived in good condition. I’ve only seen one other intact one. The Model Prefix indicates it was built as a Utility trimmed Travel Top but somewhere along the line, the bulkhead and Sport Top were added. I wonder if it was the original owner. Interesting 800!”

The sport evolution is the 3rd evolution of the E30 M3 homologated for racing. It was produced for just 3 months in 1990 resulting in 600 models. 500 models were required to evolve a race car at the time. Only 204 Red Sport evos were ever made.
This car is 100% original in terms of parts. The modifications are exactly as it left BMW.
The Sport evo was the only E30 M3 to feature a 2.5 Liter S14 engine making 238 HP.
