“Last summer the Eastern PA Chapter of the Audi Club did it’s annual covered bridges drive and ice cream run. A very fun and spirited ~150 mile drive. I show up in my 1989 80 Quattro, my wife drove our 2001 TT 225 Roadster, and a guy I had never seen before at any Audi event shows up in one of these. Jaws dropped. He was super nice, down to earth, and had no problem with any of us getting in and checking it out.”

“I own a 1938 Flying Squirrel. The engine number is one digit away from this bike and the frame number is two digits away. When I contacted the Scott Club Registry to authenticate my bike I was advised that 220 Flying Squirrels were produced (500cc and 600cc versions combined) in 1938. The whereabouts of 101 were known. Of those, twenty had the redesigned detachable head as does this bike. GLWTS”

The debate on condition is always entertaining, and really a personal preference thing. To me, this is as cool as it gets: a (nearly) guilt-free driver with character that’s impossible to replicate. “Nice to see car I built in the 80sdid all metal and paint for John did what he wanted. Twisted my arm hard to modify being I like to restore to original builds. But John had a dream and I did for him. Have pictures of me doing car. Great comment tempting to want in my shop again. Would love to talk to John but believe he has passed. “In 1967, my dad informed me that he had purchased, with my savings, 1960 Falcon with 60K miles for $325.00.
While it would not have been my choice, I was excited to enter the world of independence from walking, bicycling and public transportation.
The 144 ci engine didn’t last long with my heavy foot and the constant diet of re-refined oil I fed it from our local Site gas station.
I found a 260 at the junk yard and that was a great improvement.
The original radiator did not like the 260, so…”

“What a neat rig with an incredible pedigree! And you won’t need to bring a trailer because it’s too precious. Just drive it home and enjoy it.
I don’t have a lot to add on top of what others have said about Harold Allen except to say that many years ago I came into a collection of his Stroppe-related photos from Ford Motor Company and I’m forever grateful for those.

“I’m a tech at Colonial Toyota in Milford and saw this car come in the shop for service and the pictures do not do it justice on how incredible clean this car is, it’s in damn near showroom condition. Our whole shop was infatuated with this car. Our service writer Dwayne, was worried that it wouldn’t get done in time because we couldn’t stop drooling over it 😂 GLWS”
