“Great 914. Had a set of American Le Mans waiting in my parents garage while waiting for my 914 in gold metallic . Mine was born in JAN 71 so I missed on first year of production. I still very much enjoy this car today and the stock wheels and hubcaps are still in the American Racing boxes 55 years later. The 1.7 had more HP & torque than the 1.8 and makes for a great driver.”

Mexicos are very similar to the Ghibli as they share many mechanical components and the same parts book. “I see something like this and am reminded of the “ad specials” that were ordered for the newspaper ad wars for the lowest price on a given model to create showroom traffic. This no option car would’ve been a typical ad special in a metro dealership. I’m reminded of a tan (band aid color) new 76 Granada at the Ford dealership I worked at. Brand new advertised for $3999.00. A true “5 tires 2 keys and a heater” car. No power steering, radio delete, vinyl bench seat 3 speed column shift…”

Gary Hall, whose wife used one as a daily driver (!)… told me to correct the odd handling , you need to change to larger shocks, change spring rates, change to stiffer suspension bushings, change tire pressures with radial tires.
