The person who wins this auction and also every non bidder / winner genuinely interested in important car history should buy the 1990 book “Hans Ledwinka, Seine autos sein leben”. Currently there is one offered on the internet at only 173 us.Even though it is in german,the pictures and technical drawings tell an interesting story. I myself triggered by this auction got the book out of my library just now and even got a bit nostalgic realising that its 60 plus year ago on a hitchhike…”

“I went through the police academy in one of these back in 1997. No Crown Vic could out run or out maneuver this car when we played cops and robbers on the obstacle course. It was hands down a superior car in terms of handling and horsepower. Every time I see one I’m taken back to the driving portion of the academy. Fond memories.”

The driver opens the doors and proceeds to offload a brand new GNX and a Turbo TA.
They still sit in that garage to this day.”

“One of the things I really like about this is that, at its heart, it’s just so simple. Not like the Italian limited production barchetta cars where everything is unobtainable or very expensive. A T Series MG set up is the personification of of basic spark, fuel, air motoring. Like the upkeep on TD. That should bring it more into the range of folks who lust after the style but have been afraid of the reality of finding mechanical spares. Opportunity rarely knocks as loud as this one, IMHO!”

“Drag racing in the south in the 60’s I watched the advent of the lightweights. Lakeland Drag strip in Memphis had among others Herb McCandless aka Mr 4 Speed. I swear he could shift faster than an automatic! ! Car just shuttered when he slammed into gear. As I remember also circa 63 NHRA outlawed aluminum front caps? At the nationals people would tech and then go switch the entire front cap. NHRA got hip and would wait in staging area. With magnet in hand! Truth or consequence time!!”
