Hua Hin Fire Wave Fest draws large crowds to Hua Don beach despite early rain
Hua Hin Fire Wave Fest 2026 opened at Hua Don-Khao Takiab beach on Friday 29 May, with large crowds turning out despite rain earlier in the evening.
Umbrellas were widely used during the early part of the opening night, but the rain stopped in time for the fireworks display and a performance by Palmy, one of the headline artists at the two-day festival.
The event was organised by Hua Hin City Municipality from 29-30 May as part of efforts to support tourism during the green season and generate income for local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, shops and food vendors.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Sittichai Sawadsan presided over the opening ceremony. Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul delivered the welcome speech and outlined the objectives of the event.
Also attending were Prachuap Khiri Khan Deputy Governor Prateep Boriboonrat, Hua Hin District Chief Supachai Kruddam, Prachuap Khiri Khan Tourism and Sports official Lt Sittichai Tantasit, Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association president Kittipong Siriphetkasem, municipal executives, council members, government officials, residents and tourists.
The festival combined music, art, light installations, fireworks and activities along the beachfront.
One of the main highlights was a seaside fireworks display featuring more than 8,888 fireworks, synchronised with music. Fireworks displays were scheduled twice each evening, at 7.50pm and 9.50pm.
Other attractions included light installations under the theme “Lightwave Reflections: Light and Waves”, an LED flyboard show called “The Luminous Wave” by Suksan Thongthai, a three-time Flyboard World Championship winner, and a fire-spinning performance titled “The Sparkle Fire”.
More than 120 food and drink vendors took part in the event, which also included concerts from well-known Thai artists including Palmy, Paper Planes, Da Endorphine and Wanyai.
Hua Hin City Municipality said the festival was intended to strengthen Hua Hin’s position as one of Thailand’s leading seaside tourism destinations and support the city’s night-time economy.
Admission was free throughout the event.
