Kaia Gerber reveals she underwent an exorcism as a child

Model and actress Kaia Gerber has made a startling revelation about her childhood, saying she underwent an unusual exorcism after her mother, supermodel Cindy Crawford, feared she might be possessed.

The 24-year-old opened up about the experience during an interview on The Mitch Churi Chat Show, where she was promoting Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series The Shards. Gerber also spoke about her long-standing fascination with supernatural experiences and encounters.

Gerber said she had been told as a child that she was possessed and described herself as having been “haunted” throughout her life.

She then revealed that an exorcism had actually been performed on her. According to the actress, the ritual involved a didgeridoo being played around her.

“I’ve never talked about it, but that actually did happen,” Gerber said while recalling the unusual childhood experience.

Her comments also brought attention to her connection with supernatural themes. During her appearance in American Horror Story: Double Feature, Crawford reportedly took precautions because of concerns about the show’s subject matter. Gerber said her mother gave her holy water during the production because she worried that her daughter could become possessed.

The revelation comes as Gerber has also been speaking more openly about the pressures she has faced growing up as the daughter of one of the world’s most recognisable models.

In a recent interview, she discussed the constant comparisons between herself and Crawford, particularly regarding their physical appearances. Gerber said such comparisons affected how she viewed her own body and admitted that she had sometimes felt jealous of her mother’s figure.

The actress explained that comments about her appearance have been difficult because people often expect her to discuss her body publicly.

Gerber has also attracted attention for her relationship with actor Lewis Pullman. The couple reportedly began dating in early 2025 after her relationship with Austin Butler ended.

More recently, Gerber described her relationship with Pullman in highly positive terms, saying she values being able to remain herself rather than changing her personality depending on whether she is with a partner, friends or colleagues.

Women who helped shape the Pakistan movement

When the history of Pakistan’s independence is discussed, the narrative often focuses on the male political leaders who negotiated with the British, addressed large public gatherings and worked toward the creation of a separate homeland. However, women also played an important and often overlooked role in the Pakistan Movement. They organised political activities, mobilised communities, created awareness, participated in protests, assisted refugees and challenged traditional expectations about women’s place in public life. Among the prominent women of the movement, Fatima Jinnah remains one of the most widely recognised figures. However, her contribution extended far beyond her relationship with Muhammad Ali Jinnah as his sister. She worked closely with her brother and played an active role in encouraging Muslim women to participate in political activities. At a time when women’s involvement in public politics was socially restricted, Fatima Jinnah’s visibility carried considerable significance. Her participation demonstrated that the struggle for Pakistan was not intended to be limited to men. She became an important symbol of women’s political participation and helped encourage Muslim women to take an active interest in the future of the community. Following Partition in 1947, Fatima Jinnah continued her public service. She became involved in efforts to support refugees and assist with their rehabilitation. She also continued to speak for greater participation of women in the political and social development of Pakistan. Another important figure was Abadi Bano Begum, popularly known as Bi Amma. Long before the demand for Pakistan became the central political objective of Indian Muslims, Bi Amma had already demonstrated that Muslim women could play a role in political movements. She was the mother of prominent leaders Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar and Maulana Shaukat Ali and became actively involved in the Khilafat Movement. Bi Amma addressed public gatherings and encouraged people to support the political struggle against British rule. Her involvement was significant because political activism was still considered unusual for many Muslim women. By entering the public sphere, she helped challenge the idea that politics was exclusively a man’s responsibility. Begum Jahan Ara Shah Nawaz was another influential woman associated with Muslim League politics. Rather than remaining a passive supporter, she actively participated in political mobilisation and worked to increase women’s involvement in the Pakistan Movement. During the politically tense period of 1946–47, Muslim League women participated in protests in Punjab, with some even facing arrest. Her political involvement had begun well before Pakistan was established. She participated in the First Round Table Conference and raised concerns about discrimination against women in political rights, government employment, business and professional opportunities. After independence, Begum Jahan Ara Shah Nawaz became one of the two women members of Pakistan’s first Constituent Assembly. Alongside Shaista Ikramullah, she worked to bring women’s rights and legal equality into discussions about the new state. The contributions of these women show that Pakistan’s independence was not achieved through the efforts of men alone. Women participated in political mobilisation, social reform and nation-building, helping establish the principle that they had a legitimate and important role in Pakistan’s public life.

Modi vows tough punishment as exam leak protests intensify

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised strict action against those involved in examination paper leak scandals, making his first public comments since nationwide student protests erupted over alleged irregularities in the country’s examination system. In a statement shared on social media, Modi said the future and welfare of India’s youth were of the highest importance. He assured students that the government would take firm action against those responsible for examination fraud and announced plans to establish fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases. The prime minister said no one would be allowed to jeopardise the future of young people for personal gain. He pledged that all those found guilty of manipulating examinations or leaking question papers would face strict legal consequences. His statement came after thousands of students and young people gathered in New Delhi to protest against repeated examination paper leaks and demand greater transparency in the education system. Demonstrators have also been calling for the resignation of the country’s education minister, accusing the government of failing to prevent repeated examination scandals. The protests have been organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a movement that emerged through social media and has rapidly gained support among students and young voters across India. Initially launched as a satirical online campaign, the movement has expanded into a nationwide platform highlighting concerns over examination fraud, unemployment, and opportunities for young people. Tensions escalated earlier this week when large crowds attempted to march towards Parliament during the opening of the monsoon session. Police stopped the protesters by using tear gas and baton charges to disperse the crowds. Clashes later broke out after some demonstrators threw stones at security personnel, resulting in injuries on both sides. According to official figures, at least 178 people, including police officers and security personnel, were injured during the violence. Several protesters also sustained injuries as confrontations continued in different parts of the capital. The latest demonstrations are among the largest youth-led protests seen in New Delhi in recent years. The movement has drawn widespread public attention and increased pressure on the government to restore confidence in India’s examination system. Public anger has grown following a series of examination controversies across the country. One of the biggest scandals involved the leak of a national medical entrance examination paper, forcing more than two million candidates to retake the test. Another controversy related to the online evaluation of high school examinations involving nearly two million students has further raised concerns about fairness and transparency. Students argue that repeated paper leaks are destroying merit and reducing confidence in the education system. Many believe honest candidates are being unfairly affected by corruption and poor oversight in the examination process.

US report urges stronger parliament oversight of P…

WASHINGTON: Pakistan needs to strengthen parliamentary oversight of its public finances by improving the timely disclosure of budget proposals, government debt and other fiscal information, according to a new US State Department assessment. The findings were published in the department’s 2026 Fiscal Transparency Report, an annual review examining how governments make financial information available to citizens and whether public institutions have adequate oversight mechanisms. The report acknowledged several positive aspects of Pakistan’s fiscal system but highlighted important gaps that could make it harder for Parliament and the public to fully assess government spending plans and financial risks. One of the key concerns was the delayed publication of the executive budget proposal. The report said Pakistan did not release the proposal within a reasonable period, limiting the opportunity for lawmakers and citizens to examine spending and revenue priorities before the budget was formally approved. The State Department recommended that the government publish its proposed budget in a timely manner to allow greater public scrutiny and parliamentary debate. The report also raised concerns over the limited disclosure of government debt obligations, particularly liabilities linked to major state-owned enterprises. More comprehensive information, it said, would provide a clearer picture of Pakistan’s overall financial position and help identify potential fiscal risks. Despite these shortcomings, the assessment offered credit for several areas of Pakistan’s financial transparency. It said enacted budgets and year-end reports were widely and easily accessible, including online. Publicly available budget documents were also found to provide a substantially complete picture of most planned government expenditures and revenues, including income from natural resources. Pakistan’s auditing arrangements received a broadly favourable assessment. The report said budget information was generally reliable and subject to scrutiny by the country’s supreme audit institution. It further noted that the institution met international standards of independence and made its findings public within a reasonable period. The assessment also examined natural resource contracts and public procurement. It found that Pakistan had established legal procedures for awarding natural resource extraction licences and appeared to follow them in practice. Information on public procurement contracts was also considered accessible. However, the report identified a particularly sensitive area requiring greater oversight: military and intelligence spending. According to the assessment, the budgets of military and intelligence agencies were not subject to adequate parliamentary or civilian public oversight. The State Department included stronger scrutiny of these expenditures among its principal recommendations. Overall, the report presented a mixed picture rather than describing Pakistan’s fiscal system as broadly opaque. It recognised progress in publishing budgets, audit findings and procurement information while urging authorities to close key transparency gaps. The recommendations underline the importance of timely financial disclosure and stronger parliamentary scrutiny in improving accountability, public confidence and the management of Pakistan’s fiscal risks.

Olivia Ponton and Joe Burrow spark romance buzz

Olivia Ponton and Joe Burrow have once again fueled speculation about their relationship after being spotted together at a Cincinnati Bengals practice. The model and the NFL quarterback, who have been romantically linked since 2024, were seen spending time together during the team’s training camp on Sunday, August 9. Their appearance together quickly caught the attention of fans, particularly because Ponton was reportedly seen having a private and relaxed conversation with Burrow on the field. A video circulating online showed the pair sitting together away from the rest of the group. Their comfortable interaction immediately sparked discussion among social media users, with many wondering whether the two are finally becoming more open about their rumored relationship. The sighting also marked a notable appearance for Ponton at a public Bengals event. Her presence at the team’s practice attracted considerable attention, with fans closely observing her interaction with Burrow. Some social media users reacted excitedly to the apparent sighting, comparing the growing interest in Burrow’s personal life to the attention previously received by other NFL stars and their partners. Others urged fans to respect the couple’s privacy and allow them to enjoy their time together without excessive public attention. The relationship rumors surrounding Ponton and Burrow first emerged in December 2024. At the time, Ponton’s name became connected to the Bengals quarterback after she was reportedly present at Burrow’s home during a burglary while he was away in Texas for a game. Reports surrounding the incident stated that Ponton was associated with Burrow and provided information about belongings that could potentially have been missing from the property. The situation brought significant public attention to Burrow’s private life and raised questions about his connection with the model. Burrow later addressed the burglary during a press conference, expressing his frustration over the loss of privacy. The football star explained that living a public life comes with certain challenges but admitted that having personal matters exposed publicly was difficult for him. He also acknowledged that privacy has always been something he values, particularly because his career naturally places him under constant public scrutiny. Despite understanding the realities that come with being a professional athlete, Burrow made it clear that unwanted attention surrounding his personal life was not easy to handle. Since the initial rumors, neither Burrow nor Ponton has publicly confirmed that they are romantically involved. The pair have largely kept their personal lives away from the spotlight, leaving fans to speculate based on their occasional public appearances and interactions. Their latest appearance at Bengals practice has therefore renewed interest in the rumored romance. While their relaxed interaction has certainly caught the attention of fans, there has still been no official confirmation from either of them regarding the nature of their relationship.

Arsalan Butt addresses impact of Mamya Shajaffar’s allegations

Pakistani actor Arsalan Butt has spoken out regarding the severe emotional, professional, and personal toll he experienced following serious workplace harassment allegations made against him by fellow actress and model Mamya Shajaffar. The controversy originally erupted when Shajaffar appeared as a guest on host Iffat Omar’s digital talk show, Say It All, where she detailed a series of uncomfortable experiences with a co-star identified simply as “Arsalan”. During the interview, Shajaffar described instances where her co-star allegedly made unsolicited remarks regarding her physical appearance, exhibited aggressive behavior during an argument, and attempted physical contact despite her explicit objections. While the initial vague naming prompted social media speculation that pointed toward actor Arsalan Khan, Shajaffar quickly clarified online that her allegations were directed at Arsalan Butt, her co-star from the television drama Meesni. Following the viral interview, Butt categorically denied all charges, characterizing the allegations as entirely false, malicious, and damaging to his character. Speaking on the fallout, the actor shared how the immediate public backlash and relentless online commentary deeply impacted his mental well-being, disrupted his professional commitments, and caused distress to his family. Butt expressed disappointment over what he described as a growing culture of bringing sensitive workplace grievances to public talk shows and social media platforms rather than filing formal complaints through proper administrative or legal channels at the time of occurrence. He noted that unproven public claims carry devastating consequences for an artist’s livelihood and reputation. Seeking legal recourse, Butt initiated formal proceedings by sending Shajaffar a legal notice demanding an immediate retraction of the statements, the removal of online video clips, and an unconditional public apology. Shajaffar responded by serving a Rs 1 billion counter-notice, asserting that Butt’s legal action was an effort to silence and intimidate her after alleged workplace misconduct. After weeks of public and legal hostility, both performers eventually opted to end the dispute through an out-of-court settlement. Facilitated by project director Meer Sikandar alongside industry elders and mutual mediators, the actors signed a joint agreement withdrawing all notices, complaints, and past allegations. The document specified that the resolution did not signify an admission of guilt, misconduct, or liability from either party. Reflecting on the ordeal, Butt emphasized the necessity of due process and constructive communication in resolving industry conflicts, acknowledging that while the matter is legally closed, the experience highlighted the extreme volatility of social media narratives in shaping public perception. This video is relevant because it provides an in-depth news coverage detailing Arsalan Butt breaking his silence regarding Mamya Shajaffar’s allegations and the subsequent legal notice.
