UK rapper Yung Filly acquitted of rape but convicted of assault in Western Australia

British social media personality and rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been found not guilty of raping a fan in his hotel room following a performance in Hillarys, Western Australia.

A jury at the District Court of Western Australia in Perth delivered the verdict on Friday after an eight-day trial, acquitting the 30-year-old on three counts of sexual penetration without consent, an assault charge involving an alleged slap, and a choking charge.

However, the jury convicted Barrientos on two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm related to bite marks inflicted on the woman’s neck and breast during the encounter. The jury remained hung on three additional counts of sexual penetration without consent.

Barrientos, who denied all charges and maintained that the acts were consensual, wept as the decision was announced. He remains free on bail until 21 August, when a court date will be set to determine his sentencing for the assault convictions and decide whether prosecutors will seek a retrial on the unresolved rape charges.

    Diddy’s prison release date moved forward again …

    Sean “Diddy” Combs is now expected to be released from federal prison sooner than previously anticipated after his projected release date was moved forward once again. The repeated revisions have drawn renewed public attention to the rapper’s sentence and the federal prison system’s administrative calculations.  The 56-year-old music executive is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey. In 2025, a jury found Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. However, he was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The court also imposed a $500,000 fine and a period of supervised release following the completion of his prison sentence.  Federal officials have not publicly explained why Combs’ projected release date has been revised multiple times. Reports suggest the adjustments could be linked to standard Bureau of Prisons sentence calculations and participation in rehabilitation programs available to eligible inmates. However, prison authorities have not confirmed a specific reason for the latest change.  Meanwhile, Combs’ legal team continues to challenge his conviction. His attorneys have filed an appeal, arguing that his sentence was excessive and seeking either a new trial or a reduced sentence. The appeal remains pending, meaning the current release date could still change depending on future court decisions or administrative reviews.  The revised release timeline comes just days after reports emerged that Combs had been placed in solitary confinement following an altercation with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix. According to media reports, prison staff quickly intervened and separated those involved. It remains unclear whether the incident will have any impact on his projected release date or prison status.  Although the updated release date brings Combs one step closer to freedom, his legal troubles are far from over. Beyond the ongoing appeal, he continues to face multiple civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, all of which he has denied. For now, February 23, 2028, remains the official projected release date listed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, though future legal or administrative developments could alter that timeline.

    Iran says US violated Islamabad MoU

    Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, saying the agreement called for an end to the war, rather than a 60-day ceasefire that would require an extension. In an interview with ISNA, Araghchi said the memorandum declared an end to hostilities and blamed Washington for the subsequent resumption of fighting. He clarified that the 60-day period mentioned in the agreement referred to negotiations aimed at reaching a final settlement, not a temporary ceasefire. Araghchi said Qatar and Pakistan, which acted as mediators, continue to exchange messages with Tehran and remain in contact with Iranian officials. However, he stressed that Iran has not yet decided to resume negotiations with Washington. On the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi said Iran and Oman were continuing discussions on its management. He described the issue as separate from the Islamabad MoU and said Iran was working on a temporary route that could eventually become permanent. Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi rejected US President Donald Trump’s claims about the Strait of Hormuz. Writing on X, Gharibabadi said Iran would not surrender control of the strategic waterway because of threats, military displays or political statements. He stressed that Iran does not fear US pressure and retains authority over the Strait.
