Princess Leonor, Sofia dazzle in elegant Mallorca outing

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia captured attention with their elegant appearances during a family outing in Mallorca.

The Spanish royal sisters joined King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia for a family dinner in Palma on Friday evening, August 7.

The family gathered at Mia restaurant as part of their annual summer stay in Mallorca. The outing gave the young royals another opportunity to showcase their distinctive styles.

Princess Leonor, the heir to the Spanish throne, made a particularly striking appearance. The 20-year-old royal wore a sleeveless, ankle-length dress with a colourful floral pattern.

Her dress featured shades of blue, teal and pink. It also had a fitted waist and a flowing skirt that gave the outfit a sophisticated look.

Leonor completed her appearance with navy blue and beige wedge sandals. She also carried a bright pink clutch that added a bold touch to her ensemble.

The princess wore her long dark hair in loose waves. Her understated styling complemented the colourful dress.

Infanta Sofia also opted for a summery outfit. She wore a white off-the-shoulder maxi dress decorated with blue floral and abstract patterns.

The dress featured short sleeves, a defined waist and a flowing floor-length skirt. Sofia paired it with white flat shoes.

She left her glossy brown hair loose over her shoulders. Her simple styling added to the relaxed summer look.

The sisters were joined by their parents for the dinner. Queen Sofia, the mother of King Felipe VI, also attended the family gathering.

Princess Leonor has increasingly attracted public attention as she prepares for her future role as Spain’s monarch. Born on October 31, 2005, she is the elder daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.

She holds the title Princess of Asturias and is first in line to the Spanish throne.

Leonor recently completed three years of military training. During her training, she served across Spain’s Army, Navy and Air and Space Force.

Following her military education, she is enjoying an extended summer break. She is then expected to begin a new academic chapter.

The young royal is set to study Political Science at Carlos III University in Madrid.

    MOSCOW: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has charged Telegram founder Pavel Durov with allegedly facilitating terrorist activities and issued an international arrest warrant for him. The FSB announced the charges on Wednesday. It accused Telegram of failing to remove content that was allegedly used by Ukrainian intelligence-linked groups and terrorist and extremist organisations. According to the Russian security agency, the material was allegedly used to prepare and coordinate acts of sabotage, terrorism, mass killings and cyber-fraud operations inside Russia. The allegations have not been independently established, and Durov has not publicly responded to the charges. Soon after the announcement, Telegram’s official account on X posted an image of Durov making an obscene gesture. The post did not include an explanation or detailed response to the Russian allegations. Telegram is an encrypted messaging platform founded by Durov in 2013. The service has grown into one of the world’s largest messaging applications, with more than one billion users. The platform is widely used in both Russia and Ukraine and has played a significant role in communication during the Russia-Ukraine war. Russian authorities have repeatedly sought to restrict Telegram’s operations. The government has also promoted its own state-backed messaging service, MAX. Despite previous attempts to limit Telegram, Russian state institutions continue to use the platform. The Kremlin and the Russian Defence Ministry remain active on Telegram and regularly publish official updates. Durov was born in Russia but now holds French and Emirati citizenship. Before creating Telegram, he founded VKontakte, a major Russian social networking platform often described as the country’s equivalent of Facebook. He sold his remaining stake in VKontakte in 2014 after facing increasing pressure from Russian authorities. The latest Russian case comes as Durov is also facing legal scrutiny in France. French authorities are investigating allegations that Telegram failed to adequately tackle criminal activity on its platform and did not sufficiently cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Durov has denied wrongdoing in the French case. Russia’s latest move was preceded by reports earlier this year that Durov was already being investigated in connection with a terrorism-related case. In April, Durov said on Telegram that a summons addressed to “Suspect P.V. Durov” had been delivered to an apartment in Russia where he had lived about two decades ago. He responded sarcastically at the time, suggesting that the authorities could be targeting him for defending constitutional protections related to freedom of speech and private correspondence. Durov’s current location was not immediately confirmed. A post on his Telegram channel in May indicated that he was in Dubai. On July 23, he said he had been impressed by Georgia and hoped to return there soon.

    Goods transporters begin indefinite strike across …

    The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance has announced an indefinite strike across Pakistan from Saturday, August 8, in protest against rising fuel prices and additional financial burdens on the transport sector. According to Awan, earlier negotiations between the transport alliance and government officials at the commissioner’s office had failed to resolve the dispute. Following the unsuccessful talks, the transporters decided to proceed with their planned indefinite strike. The alliance is protesting against higher petrol and diesel prices. It is also opposing the government’s decision to determine petroleum product prices on a daily basis. Another major demand concerns the seven percent withholding tax imposed on the transport sector. Transporters say rising fuel costs and additional taxes have increased their operating expenses and created serious financial difficulties for the industry. They have urged the government to review the current policies and provide relief to the transport sector. The transporters have warned that the strike could affect the movement of goods across the country if the dispute continues. Goods transporters play a major role in supplying food, industrial products, raw materials and other essential items to markets and businesses. A prolonged strike could therefore put pressure on supply chains and affect the availability and transportation of essential goods in different areas. The government’s scheduled meeting with the transport alliance on Monday is expected to determine the next course of action. Transport representatives will present their demands during the talks and seek a solution to the ongoing dispute.

    Lahore police decide polygraph test for ASI in all…

Police said the alleged victim has already undergone a psychiatric assessment. According to the police, ASI Imran has denied the allegations. He reportedly told investigators that he had brought the woman to the police station because she was allegedly involved in begging. He claimed that he did not assault her and instead provided her with food and counselled her before sending her away. Investigators said the initial medical report contains some ambiguity regarding the allegations of sexual assault. Police officials said a detailed report from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) is expected to provide further findings that could help investigators establish what happened. The case is being closely monitored by DIG Investigation Lahore Zeeshan Raza, who said he is personally supervising the investigation. He assured that anyone found responsible would be punished according to the law. Police sources said further tests of the alleged victim have also been conducted, but their results are still awaited. Investigators are expected to consider the medical evidence, forensic findings, statements and other available material before reaching conclusions about the case. The investigation is being conducted under the direction of DIG Investigation Lahore. A team comprising Ghaziabad Investigation Incharge Inspector Nasir Hameed, Gender Cell Incharge Inspector Fatima and Investigation Officer Faryal is working on the case. The decision to conduct a polygraph test on the detained ASI comes as investigators attempt to establish the facts surrounding the allegations. However, the reported initial medical ambiguity means that the final medical and forensic findings will be important in determining the direction of the investigation. Authorities have said that the investigation remains ongoing and that legal action will be taken on the basis of the evidence collected.
