Curtis Jones becomes third Englishman to join Inter Milan

MILAN: Inter Milan have added another English name to their squad, with Curtis Jones completing a move from Liverpool to the Italian champions and becoming the third Englishman to join the club this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a contract running until 2031, bringing an end to a 16-year association with Liverpool, where he progressed through the academy before establishing himself in the first team.

Inter confirmed the transfer on Friday, describing Jones’ arrival as the start of a “new, incredible adventure” and noting that he becomes the sixth Englishman in the club’s history.

According to Italian media reports, Inter will pay around €35 million ($40.8 million) for the Liverpool academy graduate.

Jones leaves Anfield with an emotional farewell message to the club that shaped his career.

“After 16 years, it’s time to say goodbye,” Jones wrote on Instagram.

The midfielder said he had joined Liverpool as a child with the dream of playing for the club and felt fortunate to have lived that dream.

“Liverpool will be a massive part of me,” he added.

Jones now begins a completely different chapter in Serie A, joining an Inter squad that has already welcomed two other English players this summer.

Right-back Djed Spence and centre-back John Stones have also completed moves to San Siro, both signing contracts through 2031. Stones joined Inter after his Manchester City contract expired, while Spence has also made the switch to Italy.

Jones’ transfer underlines Inter’s growing interest in English talent as the club prepares for another demanding domestic and European campaign.

For the midfielder, the move represents an opportunity to experience football outside England for the first time and compete in one of Europe’s most tactical leagues.

Inter will begin their Serie A campaign against Monza on Saturday, giving Jones the chance to make an immediate impression with his new club.

After spending virtually his entire professional life at Liverpool, the midfielder now faces the challenge of adapting to a new country, language and style of football.

But with a long-term contract and the backing of the Italian champions, Jones will hope his move to Milan becomes the next defining chapter of his career.

Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor spark divorce rumours

Ayeza Khan, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated television actresses, has once again found herself at the centre of public attention following a social media post that has sparked speculation about her marriage to actor Danish Taimoor. Ayeza is widely admired for her performances in popular dramas including Pyarey Afzal, Mere Paas Tum Ho, Chupke Chupke, and Mein. She is married to Danish Taimoor, one of Pakistan’s most popular male television stars. Danish has recently been enjoying a successful run on television, with several of his projects receiving strong audience responses and achieving impressive viewership figures. While Danish continues to appear in major projects, Ayeza has currently taken a break from acting. Recently, Danish celebrated the finale of his hit drama Humrahi with a special screening at Nueplex Cinema in Karachi. However, fans quickly noticed that Ayeza was not present at the event. Her absence attracted further attention because the couple also did not publicly celebrate their Nikah anniversary on August 8. Neither Ayeza nor Danish appeared to share a post publicly wishing each other on the occasion, prompting some social media users to question whether everything was well between the two. The speculation grew after Ayeza shared a new black-and-white photograph on social media. In the picture, the actress appeared in a nightgown with a serious and expressionless look. She covered both of her ears with her hands while posing in a dramatic and seemingly detached manner. Although Ayeza did not directly mention her marriage or Danish in the post, its timing and intense imagery led some followers to interpret it as a possible message about her personal life. Several fans began discussing the possibility of problems between the couple, while others urged people not to draw conclusions based solely on social media activity. Some users also pointed out that the couple did not appear to share family photographs around August 14, another date associated with their wedding celebrations. A few followers connected this absence with Ayeza’s decision not to attend the Humrahi finale screening. Amid the growing discussion, some social media users went as far as suggesting that Ayeza and Danish could be considering separation. Others speculated that Danish might be distancing himself from his wife, while some interpreted Ayeza’s recent post as a sign that she was choosing to focus on herself. However, neither Ayeza Khan nor Danish Taimoor has confirmed any issues in their marriage. The divorce rumours currently remain unverified speculation based largely on their social media activity, public appearances, and fans’ interpretations. For now, the couple has not made any official statement addressing the rumours, leaving fans waiting for clarification about the situation.

Casemiro joins Inter Miami as MLS launches transfer probe

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has completed his move to Major League Soccer club Inter Miami after leaving Manchester United as a free agent. The experienced midfielder has signed with the American club, where he will play alongside Argentina captain Lionel Messi and several other international stars. The 34-year-old midfielder brings a wealth of experience to Inter Miami. During his career, he won five UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid and established himself as one of the world’s top defensive midfielders. He also represented Manchester United for four seasons after joining the English club from Real Madrid. Manchester United decided not to extend Casemiro’s contract at the end of the season, allowing him to leave as a free agent. Inter Miami quickly secured his signature as part of its strategy to strengthen the squad with experienced international players. Club officials welcomed Casemiro’s arrival and described the signing as another important step in their long-term project. They said the Brazilian’s leadership, experience, and winning mentality would help the team compete for more trophies in the coming seasons. After completing the move, Casemiro said the club’s ambition and future plans convinced him to join Inter Miami. He said he remains determined to win titles and contribute to the club’s continued growth. Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham also welcomed the midfielder. He praised Casemiro’s successful career and said the Brazilian’s achievements at both club and international level would add valuable experience to the team. However, shortly after the transfer was announced, Major League Soccer confirmed it had opened an investigation into Inter Miami over allegations related to the signing. According to league officials, the investigation concerns the MLS “discovery rights” system. Under league rules, clubs must secure discovery rights before negotiating with certain high-profile players. Reports indicate that LA Galaxy previously held Casemiro’s discovery rights before Inter Miami completed the transfer. League officials said they are collecting all relevant information before deciding whether any rules were violated. They added that no further comments would be made until the investigation is complete. Reports also suggest that Inter Miami and LA Galaxy reached an agreement regarding Casemiro’s discovery rights. However, the financial details of that arrangement will only be made public after the investigation concludes. The latest inquiry is not the first involving Inter Miami’s transfer activities. In previous years, the club faced league sanctions following investigations into player registration and salary cap compliance. Casemiro’s arrival further strengthens an already star-studded Inter Miami squad featuring Lionel Messi and several internationally recognised players. Football analysts believe his experience, leadership, and defensive abilities could play a key role as the club aims to compete for more domestic and international honours.

A once-wary Hollywood slowly warms to AI

Once fiercely resistant to artificial intelligence, Hollywood is increasingly embracing the technology through major studio deals, strategic investments, and streamlined production workflows—all while insisting that core human storytelling remains at the heart of filmmaking. The shift marks a noticeable departure from early industry hostility, which peaked during the 2023 labor strikes when actors and writers rallied against algorithmic displacement, copyright infringement, and digital likeness exploitation. Early generative AI tools also suffered from obvious visual glitches, such as distorted hands and unnatural lip movements, reinforcing widespread skepticism among creative professionals. However, recent technological leaps and major corporate investments have rapidly normalized AI integration. A major catalyst occurred in March when Netflix acquired Ben Affleck’s AI startup, InterPositive, for $587 million to enhance production workflows. Soon after, Lionsgate acquired a stake in AI video generator Runway, and Google invested in independent powerhouse A24. Executives note that AI has now been utilized across approximately 300 Netflix titles—primarily during post-production and for complex visual effects sequences—allowing creative teams to work faster and more efficiently. Rather than replacing human performers, filmmakers are pivoting toward “hybrid” and non-linear production techniques. Director Jon Erwin’s production company, The Wonder Project, partnered with AI platform Luma to create hyper-realistic, real-time background environments without traditional green screens or motion-capture suits, leaving actors free to perform naturally. Their recent release Young Washington, starring Oscar winner Ben Kingsley, successfully demonstrated the commercial viability of this approach by grossing over $40 million against a $20 million budget. While major legacy studios remain cautious, industry experts suggest that broader adoption is inevitable. Visual effects creators and directors emphasize that while AI serves as an amplifying tool for scope, scale, and pre-visualization, the essential emotional connection between actor, director, and camera remains irreplaceable.
