Fire Engulfs Chinese-Owned Mattress Factory in Chonburi; Workers Flee to Safety

BO THONG, Chonburi – A major fire broke out at a large mattress factory owned by a Chinese investor in Bo Thong District, Chonburi Province, on the evening of August 3rd, 2026, forcing workers to flee for their lives.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from Bo Thong Police Station and more than 10 fire trucks from That Thong Municipality and nearby areas responded to the blaze at a mattress production facility in Ban Khlong Mue Sai, That Thong Subdistrict. The factory occupies more than 11 rai of land.

The fire started intensely in a rear warehouse, accompanied by intermittent explosions. The flames were close to the workers’ living quarters, causing employees to run out of the premises to escape. The blaze spread rapidly and reached the office building at the front of the site.

Firefighters continuously sprayed water on the flames and brought the fire under control by the late evening. The warehouse structure collapsed quickly under the intense heat.

Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or fatalities in the incident. The cause of the fire is still being investigated as of Wednesday, August 5th.
