Fisherman Wearing Only Underwear Reports Motorcycle and Clothing Theft After Emerging from Pattaya Area Reservoir

CHONBURI, Thailand

A 61-year-old construction worker walked into a police station wearing only black underwear and carrying a blue helmet after thieves allegedly stole his motorcycle and clothes while he was fishing.

At approximately 9:39 a.m. on July 27th, 2026, The Pattaya News reporters outside Nong Prue Police Station observed Anon Kaewphaisan, also known as Uncle Wat, approaching the station in a state of alarm. The man, clad solely in black underwear and holding a blue motorcycle helmet, had come to file a theft report.

According to Anon, he had ridden his white-and-blue Honda Wave 125 motorcycle (license plate 4 KM 9215 Chonburi) to the Mapprachan Reservoir in Village 5 to set fishing nets. He parked the bike beside the reservoir, removed his clothes and left them in a pile with the motorcycle key in a pants pocket, then waded into the water.

When he returned to shore, both the motorcycle and his clothes were gone. Only the helmet and a pair of flip-flops remained. Anon said he had noticed a man and woman sitting near his motorcycle before entering the water but thought nothing of it at the time. Upon his return, the couple had vanished along with his belongings.

Left with only his underwear, Anon walked to the Pong Subdistrict Municipality office seeking help. Municipal officers then escorted him to the police station to file a report.

“I want the police to track down the thieves and ask them to return the motorcycle,” Anon said. “I only recently started making installment payments on it. Today I lost the bike and didn’t even catch a single fish.”

Municipal officers initially responded to a call from a resident reporting a man in underwear walking along the roadside who appeared to be mentally disturbed. Upon investigation, they learned the man was a theft victim who had been left nearly naked after his belongings were stolen while he fished. Officers said they felt sympathy for him and promptly took him to report the incident to police.
