Huai Yai Police and Banglamung Officials Set Up Checkpoints, Arrest Transgender Woman with Crystal Meth and Drug Paraphernalia

HUAI YAI, CHONBURI

At 2:40 a.m. on August 4th, 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Somphop Machan, Superintendent of Prevention and Suppression at Huai Yai Police Station, led officers from the station’s patrol unit together with administrative officials from Banglamung District in a joint operation.

The team assembled in front of Huai Yai Police Station before deploying to establish checkpoints and conduct patrols in high-risk areas.

After receiving their briefing, officers set up a checkpoint in front of the sports field on Soi Chaiyaphruek. They conducted thorough inspections of motorcycles and cars passing through the site. Officers noticed a 35-year-old transgender woman riding as a passenger on a motorcycle taxi who behaved suspiciously and had the vehicle stop short of the checkpoint. Officers identified themselves and requested a search.

A search of her shoulder bag uncovered equipment used for smoking crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as “ice”). A further body search revealed approximately one gram of the drug sealed in a clear plastic bag, hidden inside her bra. Officers seized the items as evidence and took the suspect into custody for questioning by investigators at Huai Yai Police Station, where legal proceedings will follow.

In addition to the checkpoint, police and administrative officers divided into teams and conducted mobile patrols by car and motorcycle through communities and alleys in their area of responsibility. The patrols focused on monitoring for criminal activity, deterring at-risk groups, and safeguarding residents’ lives and property.

Authorities described the operation as part of ongoing proactive measures to maintain public order and build confidence on safety among people living in Huai Yai Subdistrict and nearby areas.
