Aggressive Homeless Jomtien Man Hospitalized After Violent Outburst at Massage Shop Staff, Friend Says He Has Psychiatric Illness

A homeless man known locally as “Hap Jomtien” or the “tough guy of Jomtien” was taken into custody by police by force after he resisted arrest and admitted to a hospital for psychiatric care after a violent outburst at a traditional Thai massage parlor in the Jomtien area on the evening of July 22nd, 2026.
According to reports, the man, identified as Narit (also known as Nung), 42, began shouting and cursing at staff before repeatedly striking himself on the head with an umbrella, which he was also using to threaten the staff. The incident caused panic among employees. The event took place at a traditional massage parlor near Jomtien Beach and the Hanuman intersection.
On July 24th, a friend of the man, who asked to be identified only as Jack, 41, provided further details. Jack said Narit had once been an ordinary person but later developed a psychiatric condition and became involved with drugs, which led to repeated episodes of losing control and becoming homeless. He often stays in the Jomtien area. When he goes without medication for his mental health issues, he becomes aggressive, regularly threatening and attacking people in the neighborhood.
Jack added that about three months earlier, Narit was attacked by a group of youths who slashed him with a knife in Jomtien. Friends arranged medical treatment and he recovered. They had also previously taken him to a shelter for homeless people, but he ran away. Despite ongoing efforts by friends to help him, Narit has continued to cause disturbances. His friends stressed that Narit is a good person but just struggling with mental health issues.
“This time we hope the relevant agencies can find a proper way to help him receive treatment and place him in a suitable mental health facility,” Jack said.
Police from Pattaya City Police Station detained Narit near Jomtien Beach Soi 7 on the evening of the incident and took him to Pattaya Patamakun Hospital for treatment. As of the latest update, he remains in a local hospital.
