Mother-and-Child Room and Emergency Ward at Pattaya Special Prison Opened under “Warm Love from the Heart” Project to Improve Prison Conditions and Services
PATTAYA, Chonburi – On August 5th, 2026, Chada Thaiseth, Member of Parliament for Uthai Thani and former Deputy Minister of the Interior, led a handover ceremony and the official opening of a new mother-and-child room and emergency room at the medical facility of Pattaya Special Prison in the Nong Plalai Subdistrict of Bang Lamung District.
The event formed part of the “Warm Love from the Heart for Children Born in Prison” project, which also promotes inmate health and vocational training. The initiative is to raise the quality of life for prisoners, with particular focus on mothers and children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.
Chonburi Governor Narit Niramaiwong welcomed participants and said the activity offered opportunity and encouragement to inmates, especially those convicted of non-violent offenses who remain capable of rehabilitation, as well as mothers with children, elderly prisoners, and other vulnerable individuals. Support covered health, well-being, and skills development so that inmates can reintegrate into society more effectively.
Pattaya Special Prison Commander Phatphong Jaiklongklaew noted that the prison’s core duties include custody, care, and behavioral development to return reformed individuals to the community. Achieving these goals, he said, requires cooperation from all sectors. The project received backing from the Pattaya Provincial Prosecutor’s Office along with other government agencies and private-sector partners.
Donated items included breast pumps, disposable diapers, and other supplies for mothers and infants; equipment for elderly and vulnerable inmates; boxing gear and materials for a boxing ring; and materials to improve the walkway leading to the family visitation area. The prison clinic was also upgraded with a dedicated emergency room, a properly organized nurses’ workstation, and an improved mother-and-child room to meet higher standards of care for inmates and children accompanying their mothers.
Among those attending were Nakhon Sawan MP Chanon Thaiseth, Pattaya Provincial Prosecutor Chulaphong Rattanatraiwong, Chonburi Provincial Prosecutor Ittiphon Purasake, Bang Lamung District Chief Anusak Phiriya-amorn, Pattaya Deputy Mayor Damrongkiat Phinitkan, Pattaya City Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Anek Srathongyu, former Education Minister’s secretary Chanyut Hengtrakul, former Tourism and Sports Minister’s adviser Ratthakit Hengtrakul, SP Village Group chairman Saksit Theerapornsathorn, Alcazar Cabaret executive Somphan Phettrakul, and other senior officials and private-sector supporters.
Officials stated that the improvements go beyond physical infrastructure. They also send a message of continued opportunity, reminding inmates that society remains willing to support those who choose to change and rebuild their lives.
