Chonburi Officials Award 1.5 Million Baht in Compensation to Families of Murdered Russian Siblings and Thai Relatives
CHONBURI, Thailand — On August 12th, 2026, the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection from the Ministry of Justice, together with Chonburi Province authorities, presented compensation totaling 1.5 million baht to the heirs of five victims in a high-profile murder case involving two Russian siblings and three members of a Thai family.
The formal ceremony took place in the meeting room of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Building at Huai Yai Subdistrict Municipality in Bang Lamung District. Deputy Director-General Theerayut Kaewsing of the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection and Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong jointly led the event, held under the initiative “Protecting People, Protecting Rights: Building a Path of Justice.”
Attendees included Chonburi Deputy Governor Isra Charoenchasri, Banglamung District Chief Anusak Phiriyamon, Police Colonel Warawut Nittayawan of Huai Yai Police Station, Huai Yai Mayor Pairat Traisupachok, and Prasit Thongthitcharoen, chairman of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation in Pattaya, along with representatives from government agencies and the private sector.
The compensation was provided under the Compensation for Injured Persons and Restitution and Expenses for the Accused in Criminal Cases Act B.E. 2544 (2001) and its amendments. Eligible victims or their heirs are entitled to state assistance in such cases.
The heirs of Ms. Diana Nazimova and Mr. Roman Nazimov, the two Russian siblings, as well as the heirs of Ms. Chantana Chatin, Ms. Nichapa Nawongsa, and Mr. Wichian Nawongsa of the Thai family, each received 300,000 baht. The total amount distributed reached 1.5 million baht.
In addition to the government compensation, various public agencies and private organizations contributed further financial assistance to the bereaved families to help alleviate their hardship and offer support following the tragedy.
