Pattaya Announces Temporary Traffic Closures for Second Road Surface Upgrade

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City has announced temporary traffic restrictions along a key stretch of Pattaya Second Road to facilitate major road improvement works.

The affected section runs from the Chai Mongkol Temple Intersection in South Pattaya to Central Pattaya. Closures and restrictions begin on August 14th, 2026, as part of the ongoing Pattaya Second Road rehabilitation project.

Phase 2 of the works will start on August 17th, 2026. Construction teams will remove the existing road surface and repave it with asphaltic concrete. Operations will take place daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with completion targeted for September 17th, 2026.

Officials warned that the project may generate dust, cause traffic congestion, and create temporary inconvenience for motorists. Residents and tourists are advised to avoid the route where possible, plan journeys in advance, and strictly follow traffic signs and instructions from on-site officers.

“Pattaya City apologizes for any inconvenience caused and thanks the public for their cooperation,” the city administration said in a statement. Anyone experiencing problems or needing assistance can contact the 24-hour hotline at 1337 or the “Direct Line to Phi Beer Pattaya” Facebook page.

The announcement was issued by the Pattaya City Engineering Office.
