Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid spark wedding buzz a…

Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have become the center of intense wedding speculation after the couple was photographed in Paris wearing matching gold bands on their ring fingers. The new photos quickly sent social media into a frenzy, with many fans wondering whether the Hollywood actor and the supermodel had secretly tied the knot during a private ceremony in Europe. However, despite the growing rumors, neither Cooper nor Hadid has publicly confirmed that they are married.

The couple was spotted enjoying a relaxed outing in Paris, where photographers captured them wearing coordinating gold rings while spending time together. Their matching jewelry immediately caught the attention of fans, who interpreted the bands as possible wedding rings. The appearance has fueled widespread speculation, although representatives for the couple have remained silent on the rumors.

According to People, the rings have been identified as wedding bands from the French luxury jewelry house Boucheron. Hadid was seen wearing the Quatre Radiant Edition Wedding Band, while Cooper wore the Godron Pink Gold Wedding Band. Although the designs are traditionally marketed as wedding rings, wearing them does not necessarily confirm that the pair have exchanged vows.

Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid first sparked romance rumors in October 2023. Since then, the two have gradually become more comfortable sharing glimpses of their relationship in public. Over the past three years, they have attended major events together, traveled across Europe, and supported each other’s careers while largely keeping their romance out of the spotlight.

The latest Paris appearance has only intensified interest in the couple’s relationship. Fashion observers also noted how coordinated their outfits looked throughout the trip, further highlighting how their personal styles have evolved together. While the matching rings became the biggest talking point, many fans also praised the pair’s effortless chemistry during their outings around the French capital.

Despite the excitement, there is currently no official confirmation that Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid have secretly married. Most reports describe the situation as speculation based on the rings and the couple’s recent appearance. Until either star addresses the rumors publicly, the reports of a private European wedding remain unverified.

Whether the rings symbolize marriage, an engagement, or simply a meaningful commitment, one thing is clear: Cooper and Hadid continue to attract attention wherever they go. Their relationship has steadily grown stronger while remaining relatively private, a rarity in Hollywood.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official statement. Until then, the mystery surrounding the matching gold bands is likely to keep wedding rumors alive, making Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid one of the entertainment world’s most talked-about couples.

Govt strengthens monsoon response, fresh rainfall …

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Tuesday unveiled an enhanced  preparedness strategy, with senior ministers stressing that effective water regulation, stronger disaster management and coordinated planning are essential to reducing the impact of climate-related emergencies. The announcement came as authorities warned of another intense spell of monsoon rains expected to begin on July 29. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 107 people have lost their lives and 297 others have been injured since the current monsoon season started on June 26. Addressing a joint media briefing at the NDMA headquarters, Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik said Pakistan must move beyond the traditional approach of simply storing water and instead adopt a comprehensive system that regulates water supplies throughout the year. He noted that the government is implementing region-specific disaster management plans, recognising that the challenges faced by urban centres, agricultural areas and northern regions require different responses. Malik emphasised that efficient water management is vital for ensuring food security and sustaining agricultural production. He said dams should be used not only for storage but also for regulating water availability during critical farming seasons. He also called for improvements in water monitoring systems, infrastructure and building regulations, adding that close coordination with provincial governments would help minimise losses during natural disasters. National Food Security Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the country’s growing need for additional water storage to address both floods and future shortages. He said major infrastructure projects, including the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, Mohmand Dam, Dasu project and Karachi’s K-IV water supply scheme, would significantly strengthen Pakistan’s water resources once completed. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb described climate change and rapid population growth as two of the country’s most pressing long-term challenges. He said Pakistan is now in a stronger financial position to respond to emergencies than it was during the devastating floods of 2022 and credited the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) for improving forecasting and disaster preparedness through advanced monitoring systems. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said preparations for the monsoon season had begun months in advance under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He praised the NEOC’s early warning capabilities for helping reduce casualties and property damage by providing timely alerts through the media and the NDMA mobile application. Tarar also urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow official advisories as heavy rainfall continues across the country. Meanwhile, the flood situation remains concerning in several regions. Although water levels in the Chenab River have shown signs of improvement, low-level flooding continues along parts of the Indus River. Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have recorded the highest number of casualties, with many deaths resulting from collapsing houses, electrocution and lightning strikes. Gilgit-Baltistan remains one of the hardest-hit areas, where flash floods, landslides and mudflows have caused widespread destruction. Disaster management authorities reported damage to 184 houses, the destruction of nine bridges and nearly eight kilometres of roads, while dozens of disaster incidents have been recorded across the region. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that the approaching weather system could trigger widespread heavy rainfall, urban flooding, flash floods and rising river levels in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities say emergency response teams have been placed on alert as efforts continue to protect lives, infrastructure and communities during the ongoing monsoon season.

Heavy monsoon rains paralyse Lahore, trigger flood…

Heavy monsoon rains lashed Lahore on Thursday, causing widespread flooding, traffic disruptions and severe inconvenience for residents. Torrential downpours submerged roads, streets and underpasses, bringing routine life in many parts of the provincial capital to a standstill. According to official data, Lahore received 343 millimetres of rainfall over the past 48 hours. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned that the second spell of monsoon rains could increase the risk of urban flooding in different parts of the city. Rainwater accumulated at more than 130 locations, affecting both residential and commercial areas. Several major roads, intersections and low-lying neighbourhoods remained submerged for hours, making it difficult for motorists and pedestrians to move around the city. The worst-hit areas included DHA Phases 1 to 5, where standing water disrupted traffic on several important roads. Water also collected on routes connecting Defence Mor, LUMS Road, Main Boulevard DHA, Watain Chowk and Ghazi Chowk, resulting in long traffic jams and slow vehicle movement. Authorities temporarily closed the Ghazi Underpass and Masjid Chowk Underpass after they were flooded. Traffic police diverted vehicles to alternative routes to prevent accidents and reduce congestion. Waterlogging was also reported in Harbanspura, Mall Road, Cooper Road, Lakshmi Chowk and Chouburji Chowk, where drainage teams continued water removal operations. The heavy rainfall exposed weaknesses in the city’s drainage system as rainwater entered houses in several low-lying areas. Residents complained that they were forced to remove water from their homes themselves because drainage operations were unable to reach many affected neighbourhoods quickly. The rain also damaged road infrastructure. Large sinkholes appeared on Canal Road, Johar Town Main Boulevard, Bhekay Wala Mor and Khayaban-e-Firdousi. Traffic police immediately cordoned off the affected sections, diverted vehicles and called in repair teams to secure the damaged roads. PDMA said rain-related incidents across Punjab have so far claimed 21 lives during the ongoing monsoon season, while 154 people have been injured. Most fatalities resulted from building collapses, while others were caused by lightning strikes, electrocution and drowning. Authorities also reported damage to dozens of houses across the province. Following the latest spell of rain, district administrations were directed to remain on high alert and prepare for possible urban flooding and emergency situations. Officials advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, stay away from electricity poles, exposed wires and weak buildings, and follow official safety instructions. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) activated emergency drainage operations across Lahore. Disposal stations continued operating at full capacity, while dewatering pumps, heavy machinery and additional staff were deployed to remove rainwater from flooded roads and underpasses. Emergency control rooms also monitored conditions around the clock to coordinate the response.

Pakistan fiscal deficit falls to 22-year low

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s fiscal position improved significantly during the fiscal year 2025-26, with the federal Ministry of Finance reporting that the country’s fiscal deficit fell to its lowest level in 22 years. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, the fiscal deficit stood at 2.6% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during FY2025-26. The government also recorded a primary surplus of 2.9% of GDP, marking its highest level in 26 years. Pakistan has now maintained a primary surplus for three consecutive years, reflecting an improvement in the government’s ability to cover its non-interest expenditures through its revenues. The ministry reported that total government revenues reached Rs19.8 trillion during the fiscal year. Tax revenues accounted for Rs14.8 trillion, highlighting the central role of improved revenue collection in strengthening the country’s fiscal position. Meanwhile, the government significantly reduced its interest-related expenditure. Interest payments declined to Rs6.95 trillion in FY2025-26 from Rs8.9 trillion in the previous fiscal year. The reduction helped ease pressure on the overall budget and contributed to the improvement in the fiscal balance. On the expenditure side, defence spending increased by 18% to Rs2.588 trillion during the year. The government, however, reduced spending on subsidies by 22%, bringing the amount down from around Rs1.3 trillion to Rs1.001 trillion. Development spending also declined during the fiscal year. According to the ministry, development expenditure fell from Rs786 billion to Rs727 billion. The latest figures indicate a notable improvement in Pakistan’s fiscal management, particularly through stronger revenue collection, a reduction in interest payments and tighter control over certain categories of expenditure. The government’s continued primary surplus also represents an important indicator of progress in efforts to stabilise public finances.

Two Chinese oil tankers safely cross Bab el-Mandeb…

RIYADH: Two Chinese supertankers carrying Saudi crude oil have safely passed through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, despite growing security concerns following the Houthi movement’s recently announced naval blockade targeting Saudi-linked shipping. According to international media reports and shipping data, the vessels successfully navigated one of the world’s busiest maritime chokepoints, even as commercial shipping across the region faces mounting disruption due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The two tankers departed earlier this week from Saudi Arabia’s Yanbu Port, transporting crude oil to China. Maritime tracking data indicated that both ships identified themselves as carrying Chinese crews, a detail analysts believe may have helped reduce the risk of interception while transiting the strategically important waterway. The successful voyage comes at a time when regional shipping routes are under increasing pressure. While the Bab el-Mandeb passage remained open for these vessels, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has slowed significantly amid heightened geopolitical tensions and security threats. Industry monitoring organizations reported that only one oil tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, marking the lowest daily traffic recorded since May 7. The sharp decline reflects growing concerns among shipping companies over the safety of vessels operating in the Gulf region. The latest developments follow the Houthis’ announcement of a naval blockade against Saudi shipping, raising fears of further disruptions to global energy supplies. The Red Sea and nearby waterways serve as vital corridors for international trade, with millions of barrels of crude oil passing through them every day. Maritime security experts say shipping companies are increasingly reassessing routes, insurance coverage, and operational risks as tensions continue to rise. Some firms have warned that insurance policies for vessels operating in high-risk conflict zones could become more expensive or even be withdrawn if security conditions deteriorate further. Although the two Chinese tankers completed their journey through Bab el-Mandeb without incident, analysts caution that the broader security situation remains highly volatile. Any escalation involving key maritime routes could have significant consequences for global oil markets, freight costs, and international supply chains. The safe passage of the vessels offers temporary reassurance for energy markets, but observers note that commercial shipping in the region remains vulnerable as geopolitical tensions persist. Governments, shipping operators, and energy traders are closely monitoring developments, with particular attention focused on the strategic waterways that connect the Gulf to global markets.

NADRA officials arrested in Afghan document scam

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four individuals in Karachi for their alleged involvement in preparing fake documents for Afghan citizens. According to FIA officials, the arrested suspects include employees of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and other individuals allegedly linked to the illegal activity. The FIA said the suspects were involved in creating unauthorized and forged documents for Afghan nationals. Officials believe the network was operating by misusing official systems and resources. The arrested individuals include a NADRA Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Director. A NADRA security guard and another person were also taken into custody during the operation. FIA officials said the arrests were made after an investigation into the illegal preparation of identity documents. The agency is now conducting further inquiries to determine the scope of the network and identify other people involved. The investigation will also examine how official procedures were allegedly bypassed and whether more officials were connected to the document fraud. The FIA has intensified action against individuals involved in making fake identity documents, saying such activities pose serious security risks and undermine the national registration system. Further legal action will be taken after the completion of the investigation, officials added.
