Fake govt representative arrested in Lahore, NCCIA…

LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested a man accused of impersonating government institutions and senior officials to influence officers and collect money through fraudulent promises. The suspect, identified as Faiz Ali Syed, was arrested on the special directions of NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Wasim. Investigators said the suspect allegedly used fake identities and documents to approach officials and private individuals, claiming he could arrange government-related work and facilitate appointments in public departments in exchange for money. According to FIR No. 171/2026, Syed allegedly contacted officers through multiple WhatsApp numbers while presenting himself as a representative of prominent government institutions. Investigators also found that he used a fake green registration plate on a private vehicle to create an impression of official authority. A man dressed in a police uniform was also allegedly kept with him to reinforce the appearance of influence and official status. Three mobile phones were recovered from the suspect. Their preliminary examination reportedly uncovered WhatsApp conversations, official-looking correspondence and evidence of financial transactions linked to the alleged fraud. One of the WhatsApp accounts was reportedly labelled “Apex Court,” while conversations showed the suspect allegedly portraying himself as a member of an important state institution. Investigators also recovered several letters issued in the suspect’s name that contained claims regarding appointments to senior government positions. Further analysis of the mobile devices revealed communications suggesting that money was allegedly collected from individuals on the promise of getting their work done or securing favours through government departments. The NCCIA is investigating the case from several angles, including electronic fraud, forgery, impersonation of government institutions and financial deception. A detailed forensic examination of the recovered phones and other evidence is continuing, with investigators expecting further revelations as the probe progresses.

Kelly Clarkson reveals why she regrets her post-Am…

Kelly Clarkson has never been shy about sharing her true feelings about From Justin to Kelly, the 2003 musical comedy she made shortly after winning the first season of American Idol. Now, the singer has once again made it clear that the movie is not a chapter of her career she wants her children to revisit. During her final Las Vegas concert, Clarkson joked about the movie while speaking to the audience. She sarcastically called it an “Oscar-worthy” production before revealing the real reason she agreed to star in it: she was contractually obligated. Clarkson also joked that she wished she had read the fine print more carefully before signing her American Idol contract. (Page Six) The movie paired Clarkson with Justin Guarini, the runner-up from the first season of American Idol. Their characters meet during spring break and become romantically involved in the musical comedy. Released in 2003, the film arrived when American Idol was becoming a huge television phenomenon. However, Clarkson has previously explained that she did not want to make the movie in the first place. In a 2019 interview, she recalled being extremely unhappy about the project and said she had even spoken to lawyers in an attempt to escape her contractual obligation. She described the experience as one of the most miserable periods of her life. (Vanity Fair) Her concerns were not completely unfounded. From Justin to Kelly received harsh reviews and performed poorly at the box office. The movie reportedly earned around $4.9 million domestically against a budget of about $12 million. Its reputation has remained largely negative over the years. (Wikipedia) Despite her criticism, Clarkson does not believe the entire experience was a waste. During her recent concert, she pointed out that the music was actually fun to make. Her ability to laugh about the experience now shows how much distance she has gained from that early chapter of her career. Clarkson was only beginning her professional journey when she made the movie. Winning American Idol had suddenly placed her in the spotlight, and she was quickly expected to take on opportunities that came with her new fame. More than 20 years later, Clarkson can look back with a much stronger voice and greater control over her career. While From Justin to Kelly may remain a movie she would rather her children skip, she has managed to turn an uncomfortable experience into one of her most amusing career stories.

Harrison Ford refuses to slow down as he announces…

Harrison Ford is proving that age is no reason to stop exploring new adventures. At 84, the legendary actor has surprised Indiana Jones fans with major news about his iconic character. Ford announced that he will be part of a new Indiana Jones attraction coming to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. The attraction, titled Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, will take guests on a dangerous journey inspired by Maya culture and legends. (Disney Parks Blog) The announcement came during Disney’s D23 event in Anaheim on August 15. Ford appeared in a prerecorded video message and revealed that, for the first time, he will serve as the actual model for an Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure. (People.com) For fans, the news is especially exciting because Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was widely expected to be Ford’s final appearance as the legendary archaeologist. The 2023 movie was presented as the fifth and final film in the franchise. (Wikipedia) This new project does not mean Ford is returning for another Indiana Jones movie. Instead, his likeness will help bring the character to life inside the upcoming Disney attraction. The ride will be located in the new Tropical Americas area of Animal Kingdom. According to Disney, the story follows Indiana Jones as he explores an ancient temple near an underground cave known as a cenote. Riders will eventually be pulled into a mysterious underworld filled with dangerous creatures, fire, snakes and other obstacles. (Disney Parks Blog) The attraction will also feature a giant serpent known as the Tsukán. Disney says the story has been developed with archaeologists, anthropologists and Maya experts to create a setting inspired by the region’s culture and history. (Disney Parks Blog) Ford’s involvement adds an extra layer of nostalgia to the project. He has played Indiana Jones for more than four decades, beginning with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. His performance helped turn the character into one of cinema’s most recognizable action heroes. Although Ford has previously suggested that Dial of Destiny marked his final journey as Indy on the big screen, his latest announcement shows that he is not quite finished with the character. (Wikipedia) The new attraction is expected to open in 2027 as part of Disney World’s expanding Tropical Americas land. (WDW Magic) For longtime fans, seeing Ford’s likeness return as Indiana Jones will be a nostalgic moment. And while this may not be another movie adventure, it proves that the legendary archaeologist still has plenty of life left in him.

Russia questions reported US-Türkiye arms transfer to Ukraine

Russia has raised concerns over reports that the United States and Türkiye may facilitate the transfer of a large stockpile of American-made weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said recently released documents from the US Congress indicate that the proposed shipment could include a substantial quantity of offensive weapons. According to her, the documents refer to 12 multiple rocket launch systems, more than 2,500 unguided cluster munitions for those systems, around 47,000 203mm cluster artillery shells and 70 ATACMS short-range missiles. Zakharova said Moscow was particularly concerned about what she described as unanswered questions surrounding the reported re-export arrangement. She questioned who initiated the proposal, how the weapons would be transported and when the reported shipment could reach Ukraine. The Russian spokeswoman also criticised Washington and Ankara for their alleged involvement, arguing that both countries have previously presented themselves as potential contributors to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict. According to Zakharova, supplying additional weapons to Ukraine would not fundamentally alter the military situation but could increase the scale of destruction and casualties. She warned that further arms deliveries could also have broader consequences for Russia’s relations with both the United States and Türkiye. Moscow also questioned Türkiye’s position because Turkish authorities have previously made assurances about limiting the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine. Zakharova said that adopting peace-oriented rhetoric while simultaneously facilitating military support for Kyiv could damage mutual trust between the countries involved. The Russian Foreign Ministry has reportedly sought explanations from both Washington and Ankara following the information contained in the US congressional documents. Zakharova urged the parties involved to reconsider the situation before any reported transfer moves forward. She said there was still an opportunity for the countries concerned to assess the potential consequences of the proposed arms shipment. The allegations come as international efforts to address the Ukraine conflict continue alongside ongoing military operations

Rain fails to dampen Khalistan referendum turnout …

INDIANAPOLIS: A large number of members of the Sikh community participated in a Khalistan referendum held in Indianapolis, Indiana, despite rainy weather, as organizers called for the creation of an independent Sikh state. The event was organized by Sikhs for Justice, with participants travelling from different cities and states across the United States. Organizers said voting continued despite the rain, with women and children also among those attending. Polling was scheduled to remain open until 6pm, after which organizers were expected to announce the final turnout. Pro-Khalistan slogans were raised during the event, while some participants also expressed support for Kashmir’s independence. Ghazala Habib, chairperson of Friends of Kashmir, addressed the gathering and said she was the only non-Sikh speaker to speak from the stage. Vikramjit Singh, a representative associated with the Khalistan Referendum Campaign, said the initiative was launched in 2020 but faced disruptions because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the first voting event under the campaign was held in London on October 31, 2021, attracting thousands of Sikh participants. According to Singh, subsequent voting events were organized in countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, Italy and Canada. He said Canada hosted three events in Toronto, two in Vancouver and another in Calgary, while the United States has held voting in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and now Indianapolis. Singh claimed that nearly two million Sikhs worldwide had participated in the campaign so far. However, the figure could not be independently verified. He accused the Indian government of committing historical injustices against Sikhs, citing the 1984 attack that damaged the Akal Takht and subsequent violence against the Sikh community, as well as what he described as the exploitation of Punjab’s economic resources. Singh said supporters of the movement wanted to pursue their demand through peaceful and democratic means. He called for a formal referendum in Punjab whose outcome, according to him, would have legal and political effect for all parties. Organizers said details of the Indianapolis vote and the next stage of the campaign would be announced after polling concludes. The campaign is expected to hold another referendum in Canada on October 18, although the specific city has not yet been confirmed.

Zara Larsson unfollows BTS members after Chris Bro…

Zara Larsson has become the center of an online debate after social media users claimed the Swedish pop star unfollowed members of BTS following their alleged attendance at a Chris Brown concert in Toronto earlier this month. The claim originated from a parody account that linked BTS members J-Hope and RM to the controversy, suggesting Larsson had unfollowed them because of their reported appearance at Brown’s concert. The post quickly gained attention because Larsson previously collaborated with BTS on the 2019 song “A Brand New Day,” recorded with J-Hope for the BTS World soundtrack. However, fans soon challenged the claim, pointing out that Larsson had not been following the members’ individual Instagram accounts in the first place. Others also noted that she continues to follow BTS’s official account, casting further doubt on the suggestion that she deliberately unfollowed the members as a response to the concert. The discussion has nevertheless gained momentum because of Larsson’s previously public stance toward Brown. In a February 2026 interview with Cosmopolitan, the singer spoke about distancing herself from the artist and said she had blocked his music on Spotify. Her comments have continued to fuel conversations about how artists navigate professional associations with controversial figures. The latest social media speculation has therefore reopened broader discussions about celebrity relationships, artistic collaborations and accountability. While fans have largely debunked the specific unfollowing claim, the episode demonstrates how quickly unverified posts can spread when they involve major artists and long-standing collaborations. Neither Larsson nor the BTS members have publicly addressed the viral claim. For now, there is no confirmed evidence that Larsson changed her social-media relationship with BTS because of the Toronto concert. The incident also highlights the challenges celebrities face in an era where social-media activity can become the basis for widespread speculation, even when the original claims are based on incomplete or misleading information.

Johnny Depp may return as Captain Jack Sparrow

Johnny Depp fans may finally have a reason to hope for the return of one of cinema’s most recognizable characters. The actor could potentially reprise his beloved role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the sixth installment of the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The possibility of Depp’s comeback has gained attention after producer Jerry Bruckheimer discussed the future of the long-running series. During an appearance at D23, the official fan club event for The Walt Disney Company, Bruckheimer revealed that discussions with Depp are taking place while work continues on a screenplay for the upcoming film. “We’re talking with Johnny, we’re working on a screenplay, and hopefully we can get this done,” Bruckheimer said, fueling speculation that Depp could once again step into the role that made Captain Jack Sparrow a global pop culture icon. Although no official casting announcement has been made, reports indicate that the sixth movie could take a different approach from its predecessors. The project is reportedly being developed with Margot Robbie’s character at the center of the story, while Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow could appear in a supporting capacity. Such a direction would allow the franchise to introduce a fresh storyline while maintaining a connection to the original movies. Depp’s potential appearance could also provide a link between the new chapter and the earlier films that helped turn Pirates of the Caribbean into one of Hollywood’s most successful adventure franchises. The decision to refresh the series may have been influenced by the performance of the most recent installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which was released in 2017. The movie earned approximately $795.9 million worldwide, making it the lowest-grossing film in the franchise despite its strong global box office performance. For now, however, fans will have to wait for confirmation regarding Depp’s involvement. The sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie remains in development, and there is currently no confirmed release date. Meanwhile, Depp has several other projects on the horizon. He is set to star in the dark fantasy film Ebenezer, portraying the classic character Ebenezer Scrooge. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026. The actor is also expected to appear in the action thriller Day Drinker, alongside Madelyn Cline and Penélope Cruz. The film is currently scheduled for release on March 26, 2027. If Depp ultimately returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, his appearance could become one of the most anticipated moments in the franchise’s history. While negotiations and development are still underway, the possibility of seeing the iconic pirate back on screen has already generated excitement among longtime fans.

Four Antonello da Messina masterpieces stolen from…

Four prized works by renowned 15th-century Italian painter Antonello da Messina have been stolen from a museum in Messina, Sicily, in what officials have described as a devastating cultural loss. The theft reportedly took place on Saturday evening at the Regional Museum of Messina, with the criminals exploiting the large crowds and security challenges surrounding Italy’s Ferragosto national holiday and the city’s La Vara religious celebrations. According to reports, the thieves managed to bypass the museum’s security system before breaking into a protected display case and removing four wooden panels painted by Antonello da Messina, one of the most influential artists of the Italian Renaissance. Among the stolen pieces are three of the five surviving panels from the celebrated Polyptych of St Gregory, regarded as one of Antonello’s most significant works. The paintings are considered exceptionally valuable because of their rarity and historical importance. Museum director Marisa Mercuri described the incident as a “very serious and significant loss”, stressing that the works hold immeasurable cultural, artistic and symbolic value not only for Messina but for Sicily as a whole. Authorities are investigating the theft and efforts are underway to locate the missing masterpieces and recover them as quickly as possible. The disappearance has raised fresh concerns over the protection of priceless cultural heritage and security at museums housing historic works of art.
