Harrison Ford refuses to slow down as he announces…

Harrison Ford is proving that age is no reason to stop exploring new adventures. At 84, the legendary actor has surprised Indiana Jones fans with major news about his iconic character.

Ford announced that he will be part of a new Indiana Jones attraction coming to Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. The attraction, titled Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, will take guests on a dangerous journey inspired by Maya culture and legends. (Disney Parks Blog⁠)

The announcement came during Disney’s D23 event in Anaheim on August 15. Ford appeared in a prerecorded video message and revealed that, for the first time, he will serve as the actual model for an Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronics figure. (People.com⁠)

For fans, the news is especially exciting because Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was widely expected to be Ford’s final appearance as the legendary archaeologist. The 2023 movie was presented as the fifth and final film in the franchise. (Wikipedia⁠)

This new project does not mean Ford is returning for another Indiana Jones movie. Instead, his likeness will help bring the character to life inside the upcoming Disney attraction.

The ride will be located in the new Tropical Americas area of Animal Kingdom. According to Disney, the story follows Indiana Jones as he explores an ancient temple near an underground cave known as a cenote. Ford’s involvement adds an extra layer of nostalgia to the project. He has played Indiana Jones for more than four decades, beginning with Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. His performance helped turn the character into one of cinema’s most recognizable action heroes.

    The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that the widow of a deceased retired employee is the lawful recipient of the employee’s pension and post-retirement benefits, clarifying that siblings cannot claim such benefits solely on the basis of being legal heirs. The ruling was issued in a detailed four-page written judgment authored by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The decision provides important legal clarification on the distribution of pension and retirement benefits after the death of a retired government employee. According to the judgment, pension is not treated as inherited property that can automatically be divided among all legal heirs. Instead, the court held that pension payments are governed by the relevant laws, service rules and institutional regulations. The Supreme Court stated that the widow of a deceased retired employee has the primary legal right to receive the pension and related benefits. It further observed that if a person has been legally nominated under the applicable rules, that nominee would also be entitled to receive the benefits. The court made it clear that brothers and sisters cannot claim a deceased employee’s pension merely because they are legal heirs under inheritance laws. It explained that pension rights arise from specific statutory provisions and are separate from the general rules governing inheritance. The judgment emphasised that all pension payments must be made strictly in accordance with the applicable laws and the regulations of the concerned institution. Authorities responsible for disbursing pensions must follow these legal provisions while determining the rightful beneficiary. The case reached the Supreme Court after the siblings of a deceased employee of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) challenged an earlier court ruling and sought a succession certificate to claim pension-related benefits. After reviewing the case, the apex court dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of the Peshawar High Court, which had ruled that the siblings were not entitled to receive the deceased employee’s pension. The Supreme Court observed that pension is a statutory benefit and cannot be distributed under ordinary inheritance principles unless specifically permitted by the relevant legal framework.

    GB Chief Minister forms 12-member cabinet

    Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain has formed his provincial cabinet, appointing 12 members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly as ministers. The newly formed cabinet includes eight members from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and four members from the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). The appointments were made through an official notification issued by the relevant provincial departments. The notification stated that the members were appointed as ministers on the recommendation of the chief minister and approval of the governor. The four IPP members joining the cabinet are Aman Ali, Asad Shafiq, Anwar Ali and Muhammad Dilpazeer. The government has not yet announced the portfolios of the newly appointed ministers. Their departments are expected to be allocated in the coming days. The IPP members selected for the cabinet had participated in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections as independent candidates before joining the party. The new cabinet formation comes after political developments following the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. The PPP emerged as the leading party and formed the government with support from other political groups. The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly currently consists of representatives from multiple political parties, including the PPP, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), IPP, Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen and a PTI-backed independent member. Meanwhile, a by-election for the GBA-9 Skardu-III seat is scheduled after the disqualification of PPP candidate Fida Muhammad Nashad by the Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court over issues related to his nomination papers. Following the elections, the PML-N and IPP supported the PPP candidate for the positions of chief minister, speaker and deputy speaker. However, the PML-N later decided to sit on the opposition benches.
