Chiranjeevi unveils Kaaka title on 71st birthday

Indian megastar Chiranjeevi celebrated his 71st birthday with the title reveal of his upcoming film Kaaka, which was previously being referred to as #Mega158.

The makers released the first glimpse of the film on Saturday, offering fans an intriguing introduction to Chiranjeevi’s character and revealing that the veteran actor will appear in two distinctly different avatars.

Directed by Bobby Kolli, Kaaka is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on January 13, 2027, coinciding with the Sankranthi festival.

The title announcement was shared by KVN Productions, which teased fans with a glimpse of what it described as a new side of the megastar. The production house also promised an intense big-screen experience with the upcoming project.

The glimpse begins with Chiranjeevi playing K Satyam, a middle-class supervisor working in the aqua industry. The character initially appears simple, responsible and grounded.

Satyam is shown dealing with his team in Chennai and ensuring that an important delivery is completed on time. He also refuses a colleague’s request for leave because of a festival-related deadline.

The sequence then takes an unexpected and humorous turn. When a colleague accidentally drops scooter keys into the water, a dog appears carrying a remote. Satyam uses the remote and a magnet in an attempt to retrieve the keys.

However, the seemingly ordinary situation quickly changes when guns emerge from the water along with the missing keys.

The surprising moment leads into the film’s title reveal and hints that Satyam may have a much more complicated background than initially suggested.

The glimpse then shifts to another version of Chiranjeevi. In the flashback-style sequence, the actor appears younger and considerably more stylish. He is seen handling firearms with confidence, presenting a sharp contrast to the modest and unassuming Satyam introduced earlier.

The teaser deliberately leaves the relationship between the two versions of Chiranjeevi unexplained. It also keeps the larger storyline under wraps, leaving viewers to speculate about the connection between the characters and the circumstances that bring their worlds together.

The film features Anaswara Rajan alongside Chiranjeevi. The writing team includes Kona Venkat, K Chakravarthy Reddy, Hari Mohana Krishna and Vineeth Potluri.

With its combination of humour, mystery and action, Kaaka is already generating interest among Chiranjeevi’s fans. The contrasting looks presented in the title glimpse have particularly raised curiosity about the actor’s role and the film’s narrative.

Chiranjeevi has another major project lined up as well. His film Vishwambhara is scheduled for release on October 16, adding to an already busy period for the veteran star.

Ariana Grande’s Petal visuals ignite concern over her health

The release of Ariana Grande’s latest music video for the title track of her new album, Petal, has sparked an emotional conversation online, with fans praising its powerful message while also expressing deep concern over the singer’s appearance. The music video, which explores themes of identity, self-acceptance and breaking free from constant public judgment, portrays Grande as someone living under relentless scrutiny. Throughout the visuals, she reflects on the pressure of meeting expectations from critics, the media and even her own fans. While many viewers connected with the emotional storytelling and vulnerable lyrics, one particular scene quickly became the focus of widespread discussion. Several fans pointed to close-up shots in which Grande appeared noticeably thinner than before, saying the visuals were difficult to watch. Instead of discussing the song’s message, social media users began debating the singer’s physical health and wellbeing. The reaction quickly spread across platforms, with thousands of fans posting messages urging the pop star to prioritize her health and take care of herself. Many expressed sadness rather than criticism, saying they hoped Grande was surrounded by people who genuinely supported her. The conversation soon extended beyond fans, with celebrities also sharing their concerns. Actress and activist Jameela Jamil publicly reacted to the music video, saying she was worried about Grande’s wellbeing and questioned whether the imagery should have been presented in that way. Model and body positivity advocate Charli Howard also commented on the visuals, posting a clip from the video on social media alongside a lengthy message discussing body image, public pressure and the responsibility of the entertainment industry. The intense online discussion surrounding Grande’s appearance eventually coincided with another major announcement. The singer confirmed that she plans to step away from the public spotlight after completing her ongoing Eternal Sunshine Tour. According to a statement released by her representative, Grande will take a break from public appearances once the tour concludes. The statement explained that she wants to finish the tour on a positive note before enjoying a well-earned period away from constant public attention. Her representative also noted that the singer has cherished every moment of performing for fans during the tour but has endured years of continuous public scrutiny. The upcoming hiatus is intended to allow her time to rest and focus on herself after completing her professional commitments. The announcement received mixed reactions online. Many fans applauded Grande’s decision, calling it a necessary step after years of intense media attention and demanding work schedules. Others continued speculating about her health, asking whether there was an underlying reason behind her noticeably slimmer appearance. Grande has long been recognized for her petite frame and youthful appearance. However, many fans believe her weight has changed significantly over the past few years. Public discussion around her appearance became especially prominent during the filming and promotional campaign for Wicked: For Good, with social media users frequently commenting on her body. Those conversations often fueled online speculation, with some people attempting to link her appearance to different aspects of her personal or professional life. However, none of those claims have been confirmed, and Grande herself has not publicly explained the reason for any changes in her weight. As a result, numerous theories have circulated online, including speculation about the pressures faced by performers in the entertainment industry. Still, there is no verified evidence supporting these claims, and any assumptions about Grande’s health remain unconfirmed. Despite the concern surrounding her recent appearance and temporary break from public life, Grande’s career continues to move forward. Fans can next see the Grammy-winning singer on the big screen in Focker-in-Law, where she stars alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller. The highly anticipated comedy is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 25, 2026. For now, many of Grande’s supporters hope her planned hiatus will provide the privacy and rest she has requested, while allowing attention to eventually return to the music and message behind Petal rather than ongoing speculation about her personal health.

    Pakistan unveils four-year Hajj policy

The government has introduced a four-year Hajj policy covering arrangements from 2027 to 2030. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf presented the policy on Wednesday. He described it as a major step toward improving and modernising Hajj arrangements in Pakistan. Speaking at a briefing, the minister said this was the first time the government had introduced a four-year Hajj policy. He said the initiative would provide a long-term framework for organising the pilgrimage. Yousaf said the policy had been prepared under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It focuses on technology, transparency and improved services for pilgrims. According to the minister, the new framework aims to bring Pakistan’s Hajj arrangements closer to international standards. It will also introduce several new facilities for pilgrims. For the first time, applicants will have access to a registration and waiting-list system. The government expects the system to make the process more organised and transparent. The minister said the government and private Hajj schemes would retain their existing quota division. Sixty per cent of the quota will remain with the government scheme, while private operators will receive 40 per cent. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will continue to oversee and regulate Hajj arrangements. It will also monitor the performance of private Hajj companies. Under the new policy, applicants will be able to enter the pilgrims’ list after paying 10 per cent of the required amount. The government has also planned greater transparency in procurement. Purchases made in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will be carried out through transparent procedures. Yousaf said any money remaining after meeting the required expenses would be returned to the pilgrims. The measure is aimed at improving financial transparency and protecting the interests of Hajj applicants. The government also plans to change the way private Hajj companies are monitored. Their registration and oversight will not depend only on the quota allocated to them. Instead, their performance will be an important factor in determining their registration and continued participation in the Hajj programme. A digital complaint-resolution system is also being introduced. Pilgrims will be able to submit complaints and seek quick action through the new system. An appeal mechanism will also be established. This will provide pilgrims with another channel to challenge decisions or seek resolution of their complaints. The minister said the government would also improve training programmes for Hajj pilgrims. The aim is to prepare pilgrims more effectively before their departure for Saudi Arabia. The Hajj Muhafiz Scheme will continue under the new policy. The government considers the scheme an important part of its arrangements for pilgrims. Yousaf said the new policy had been developed in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The framework is intended to improve coordination and service delivery during the pilgrimage. The minister said the government’s objective was not limited to managing logistical arrangements. It also wanted to ensure that Pakistani pilgrims received a dignified and comfortable Hajj experience. The estimated cost of the government Hajj package is expected to remain between Rs1.2 million and Rs1.3 million. However, the final cost may depend on various arrangements and expenses associated with the pilgrimage. Yousaf also clarified that any increase or decrease in Pakistan’s Hajj quota would require a decision from the federal cabinet. He said Pakistan had received recognition and awards for its Hajj arrangements in the past. The government now wants to further improve the system through long-term planning and greater use of technology. The four-year policy is expected to provide greater continuity in Hajj preparations. Officials believe the long-term framework will also make planning easier for both the government and pilgrims.

Oil prices fall as Hormuz shipments resume

Global oil prices fell sharply on Friday, extending weekly losses as crude exports through the Strait of Hormuz gradually resumed, easing fears of prolonged supply disruptions despite a fresh maritime security incident near Oman. Brent crude dropped nearly 2% to $73.76 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude also declined around 2% to $70.43 per barrel during trading. The decline reflected growing market confidence that oil supplies from the Gulf were beginning to recover after months of disruption. Saudi Arabia’s state-owned energy company resumed crude loading operations at the Ras Tanura export terminal after a suspension of almost four months. Shipping data indicated that two very large crude carriers were loading oil at the terminal, with another tanker waiting offshore, signalling a gradual restoration of export activity. Market analysts said traders were reacting positively to the increase in tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors. However, they noted that crude demand from China remains weaker than expected, adding downward pressure on prices. The market had briefly rallied a day earlier after a commercial cargo vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile near Oman, prompting the United Nations’ shipping agency to suspend its voluntary evacuation programme in the area. US officials later alleged that Iranian forces had fired on the vessel as it attempted to transit the strait, while Iranian authorities maintained that security could not be guaranteed for ships operating outside designated navigation routes. Although oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have reached their highest level since the outbreak of the US-Israel-Iran conflict in February, overall maritime traffic remains well below normal levels recorded before the crisis. Analysts observed that much of the recent increase in tanker traffic reflects vessels that had been stranded during the conflict finally leaving the Persian Gulf. They cautioned that inbound shipping remains limited, suggesting export flows could slow again once the backlog of delayed vessels has cleared. Adding another layer of uncertainty, earthquakes in Venezuela raised fresh concerns about global oil supplies. Initial assessments indicated that the country’s major oilfields, refineries and export facilities escaped significant damage because they were located away from the hardest-hit regions. Nevertheless, widespread power outages have created uncertainty over whether Venezuela can maintain crude production near its recent level of approximately 1.2 million barrels per day. Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply risks, the resumption of Gulf oil exports outweighed immediate concerns, leaving both Brent and WTI crude on course for weekly losses of around eight percent.
