Dusky leaf monkey rescued after electric shock in Prachuap
Officials have rescued a dusky leaf monkey after it was injured by an electric shock in Prachuap Khiri Khan, following a report made via the 1362 wildlife hotline.
The incident occurred on 12 April 2026, when officials from Khao Tamonglai Forest Park were alerted to an injured wild animal within the Air Force Engineering Battalion at Wing 5 in Ko Lak subdistrict, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan district.
Upon arrival, officers found a dusky leaf monkey suffering from burn injuries to its body, face and head. The injuries were believed to have been caused by electrocution. Officials provided initial assistance at the scene before arranging for the animal to receive further treatment.

The dusky leaf monkey was transferred to the Huai Sai Wildlife Breeding Station in Cha-am, Phetchaburi province, where it is currently under the care of veterinary staff. Officials said the animal is receiving first aid and remains under close observation.
Veterinarians will continue to monitor its condition as part of a rehabilitation process. If the monkey recovers fully and is able to survive independently, it will be released back into its natural habitat.
Authorities said cases of wild animals leaving protected forest areas and entering nearby communities are being reported more frequently, sometimes resulting in injury. Officials emphasised that the Forest Protection Hotline 1362 remains an important channel for reporting injured wildlife so that assistance can be provided quickly.
