Former Sindh MPA seeks case against ex-wife over a…

Former Sindh Assembly member Ghulam Rasool Anr has approached a court seeking registration of a case against his former wife over alleged fraud, blackmail and death threats.

In his petition, Anr said he first became acquainted with the woman through social media. He claimed that whenever he asked her to show her face, she would send him images allegedly generated using artificial intelligence.

According to the petitioner, the two got married through a video call on February 23 this year. He said the woman was wearing a veil even on the day of the marriage.

Anr claimed that after the marriage, he saw the woman in person and found her appearance completely different from the pictures she had previously sent him.

He said that after seeing her face, he distanced himself from her and subsequently divorced her on August 9.

The former lawmaker further alleged that following the divorce, the woman began blackmailing him and allegedly threatening to kill him.

He has asked the court to direct police to register a case against his former wife and take legal action over the allegations.

The court has issued a notice to the police and sought a report by August 17.

The allegations contained in the petition have yet to be established in court.

She warned that further arms deliveries could also have broader consequences for Russia’s relations with both the United States and Türkiye. Moscow also questioned Türkiye’s position because Turkish authorities have previously made assurances about limiting the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine. Zakharova said that adopting peace-oriented rhetoric while simultaneously facilitating military support for Kyiv could damage mutual trust between the countries involved. The Russian Foreign Ministry has reportedly sought explanations from both Washington and Ankara following the information contained in the US congressional documents. Zakharova urged the parties involved to reconsider the situation before any reported transfer moves forward. She said there was still an opportunity for the countries concerned to assess the potential consequences of the proposed arms shipment. Speaking about local government arrangements, Ghani said protests had previously been held against the dual local government system in Sindh. He maintained that Karachi had been given a separate system under an agreement reached with the MQM. Commenting on Jamaat-e-Islami’s protests, Ghani said the party claims to be protesting over public issues, but shutting down Karachi at multiple locations would not resolve people’s problems. He advised JI leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to hold protests at locations where people would respond sympathetically. Ghani also criticized demands for abolishing the levy, questioning whether making life difficult for Karachi’s residents would force Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to accept the protesters’ demands. He said all provinces contribute their share of revenue to the federation, adding that Sindh had also fulfilled its financial responsibilities.
