Hina Khan reveals cancer battle tested her marriage deeply

Indian television actress Hina Khan has opened up about the difficult impact her cancer diagnosis had on her relationship with longtime partner Rocky Jaiswal, revealing that her health battle made her reconsider their future together.

Hina and Rocky had known each other for nearly 13 years before taking their relationship to the next level. The couple eventually married in an intimate ceremony in June 2025, during a particularly challenging period in Hina’s life as she was undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer.

Speaking about their relationship, Hina admitted that her diagnosis brought an enormous amount of uncertainty into their lives. Rather than questioning Rocky’s commitment, she found herself worrying about whether she could still give him the life and happiness he deserved.

The actress revealed that she even encouraged Rocky to move on and consider marrying someone else. According to Hina, she made the suggestion several times because she feared that her illness could permanently change different aspects of their lives.

“We are not in that space where we fight; we have been in real-life crises,” Hina explained while discussing their relationship. She recalled telling Rocky that he should marry someone else, believing that he should not feel obligated to stay with her because of her health struggles.

For Hina, the decision was not an attempt to test Rocky’s love or loyalty. Instead, she said it came from a genuine desire to ensure that he could have the future he wanted, even if that future did not include her.

Her cancer journey brought emotional and physical challenges, but Rocky remained a constant source of support. Hina acknowledged that his presence played a major role in helping her cope with one of the most difficult periods of her life.

“Anyone who was around me then knew that I was able to get through that time only because of him,” she shared, adding that Rocky made the difficult circumstances appear much easier than they actually were.

Despite Hina’s repeated attempts to convince him to move forward without her, Rocky chose to remain by her side. He supported her throughout her cancer treatment and stood with her through the uncertainty surrounding her health.

The couple ultimately married while Hina was still battling cancer, turning their relationship into a story of commitment and resilience during an exceptionally challenging chapter.

Hina’s revelations offer a deeply personal look at how serious illness can affect not only an individual but also the relationships surrounding them. While she feared that her condition might prevent Rocky from experiencing the life he deserved, his decision to stay demonstrated his willingness to face the difficult circumstances alongside her.

Israeli Army Radio, citing a security source, reported that investigators were still trying to determine whether the explosive device had been planted before or after the ceasefire agreement. Soon after the incident, the Israeli military described the explosion as a “blatant ceasefire violation” and launched a series of retaliatory strikes targeting areas in southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials said one civilian was killed and at least 12 others were injured after Israeli strikes hit the town of Tibnin, around 25 kilometres from Mansouri. Before the attack, the Israeli military issued an evacuation warning for residents in the area—the first such online warning directed at Lebanon in more than a month. However, Israel’s tone appeared to soften a day later. In a statement mourning the soldiers, Defence Minister Israel Katz did not directly accuse Hezbollah or refer to a ceasefire violation, signalling that Israeli authorities may be seeking to avoid a wider military escalation. Israel continues to maintain a buffer zone inside southern Lebanon, saying its forces are operating there to eliminate threats posed by the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement and to enhance border security. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts remain underway in Rome, where Israeli and Lebanese officials are participating in talks that began on Tuesday and are scheduled to continue through Thursday. The negotiations are focused on strengthening the June security arrangement and preventing further violence along the volatile frontier. The renewed bloodshed underscores the fragile nature of the ceasefire and highlights the challenges facing mediators seeking lasting stability in the region. While both sides have expressed interest in preventing a broader conflict, sporadic violence continues to threaten the progress made through recent diplomatic initiatives.     WASHINGTON: Pakistan needs to strengthen parliamentary oversight of its public finances by improving the timely disclosure of budget proposals, government debt and other fiscal information, according to a new US State Department assessment. The findings were published in the department’s 2026 Fiscal Transparency Report, an annual review examining how governments make financial information available to citizens and whether public institutions have adequate oversight mechanisms. The report acknowledged several positive aspects of Pakistan’s fiscal system but highlighted important gaps that could make it harder for Parliament and the public to fully assess government spending plans and financial risks. One of the key concerns was the delayed publication of the executive budget proposal. The report said Pakistan did not release the proposal within a reasonable period, limiting the opportunity for lawmakers and citizens to examine spending and revenue priorities before the budget was formally approved. The State Department recommended that the government publish its proposed budget in a timely manner to allow greater public scrutiny and parliamentary debate. The report also raised concerns over the limited disclosure of government debt obligations, particularly liabilities linked to major state-owned enterprises. More comprehensive information, it said, would provide a clearer picture of Pakistan’s overall financial position and help identify potential fiscal risks. Despite these shortcomings, the assessment offered credit for several areas of Pakistan’s financial transparency. It said enacted budgets and year-end reports were widely and easily accessible, including online. Publicly available budget documents were also found to provide a substantially complete picture of most planned government expenditures and revenues, including income from natural resources. Pakistan’s auditing arrangements received a broadly favourable assessment. The report said budget information was generally reliable and subject to scrutiny by the country’s supreme audit institution. It further noted that the institution met international standards of independence and made its findings public within a reasonable period. The assessment also examined natural resource contracts and public procurement. It found that Pakistan had established legal procedures for awarding natural resource extraction licences and appeared to follow them in practice. Information on public procurement contracts was also considered accessible. However, the report identified a particularly sensitive area requiring greater oversight: military and intelligence spending. According to the assessment, the budgets of military and intelligence agencies were not subject to adequate parliamentary or civilian public oversight. The State Department included stronger scrutiny of these expenditures among its principal recommendations. Overall, the report presented a mixed picture rather than describing Pakistan’s fiscal system as broadly opaque. It recognised progress in publishing budgets, audit findings and procurement information while urging authorities to close key transparency gaps. The recommendations underline the importance of timely financial disclosure and stronger parliamentary scrutiny in improving accountability, public confidence and the management of Pakistan’s fiscal risks.

Maryam added that the Makkah defence agreement had reinforced the message of unity among Muslim countries. The agreement was signed in Makkah by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the agreement stipulates that an attack on any one of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three. The pact aims to strengthen their joint defence capabilities against any aggression and expand defence cooperation between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

    Pakistani singer Zeeshan Rokhri has claimed that he turned down an acting offer for the upcoming film Makho because of what he described as an unacceptably low payment. According to Rokhri, he was approached to appear in Makho and was asked to work on the film for approximately eight days. He said he quoted a fee of PKR 10 million for the role, believing it reflected the value of his time and contribution. The singer claimed that during discussions, Sangeeta’s team informed him that Moammar Rana, one of Pakistan’s most recognizable film actors, had been signed for the project for PKR 500,000. Rokhri said he was surprised by the figure and decided not to join the film. Expressing his disappointment, Rokhri argued that paying a senior actor such a modest amount does little to support the country’s entertainment industry. He said artists deserve compensation that reflects their experience and contribution, adding that better financial investment is necessary if Pakistan’s film industry hopes to compete with larger regional markets. “If we want our film industry to grow and compete with Bollywood, then the budgets also need to match that ambition,” Rokhri said during the interview.
